Abstract

This study analyses the slope stability of Ciliwung Riverside in the Kopassus shooting range area, where signs of landslides occurred i.e. broken fence and road pavement on top of the slope. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the slope's safety factor (SF) before and after reinforcement with soil nailing, as well as to examine the effect of variations in length, spacing, and soil nailing’s diameter on the slope's SF. The stability analysis is conducted using the limit equilibrium method through a computer program The slope's SF before reinforcement was 1.16 ≤ 1,5, indicating the need for additional reinforcement. Out of 125 soil nailing variations tested, 61 variations achieved a static SF ≥ 1,5 (ranging from 1,50 to 1,67) and an earthquake SF ≥ 1,1 (ranging from 1,17 to 1,29). The results showed that increasing the borehole diameter and nail length increases the SF, while increasing the nail spacing decreases the SF. The optimal combination was obtained at spacing of 2 meters, nail length of 11 meters, and diameter of 175 mm, resulting in a total nail length of 39 m/m and grout volume of 0,93 m³/m, with a static SF of 1,54 and an earthquake SF of 1,19.

Abstract

Expansive soils are highly susceptible to volumetric changes due to moisture fluctuations, which can significantly affect the stability and durability of structures. Therefore, their presence must be carefully considered during the planning and foundation design stages. Survey, field investigations, and lab tests show that soil up to 8 m deep has a plasticity index of 30%–65%. Swelling tests on samples from 1 m–3.5 m depths revealed swelling percentages of 0.545%–0.715% and pressures of 11.7 kPa–12.5 kPa, which are high for near-surface soil. XRD tests identified montmorillonite minerals, known for high activity and shrinkage, contributing to slope cracks and movement. Geotechnical analysis using finite element method shows that slope stability safety factors of 0.84 (static) and 0.62 (earthquake), below required thresholds of 1.5 and 1.1, respectively. The proposed reinforcement includes double-row soldier piles, connected by a capping beam. The slope surface will be graded downstream and reinforced with 1 m thick stone masonry. These measures are expected to increase safety factors to 1.72 (static) and 1.1 (earthquake), meeting safety standards.

Abstract

Kampung Keranggan located on the banks of the Cisadane River, is a pilot project of a tourism village in South Tangerang. However, both as a settlement and a place frequently visited by families, this kampung does not yet have a children playground. This space is very important, especially when an educational function is added to it. The vast landscape in this kampung is available and some area could be designed as a children playground equipped with installation to play. In this paper, the community engagement service activity is to design and to implement children's play installations, also served as educational facilities, namely tubulum and xylophone. Both are percussion instruments to train children’s audio sensory. These installations are made of PVC pipe and some household cutleries added on xylophone. This activity was begun with field observations and discussions with the management, making a digital installation design, making installation components in the workshop, and assembling and placing the installation on site. The principle of the installation design is to use materials that are easy to obtain and assemble, and are light in weight. These installations support tourist attraction activities in Keranggan Village and encourages children to play because this installation is placed in strategic place so visitors can easily play it and children are attracted because of its unique shape.
