Abstract

Abstract

The development of a science-based society is strongly influenced by science education. The comparison of science education between Germany, China and Indonesia is an interesting topic because they have different traditions and approaches to developing their science education systems. This research aims to study the differences in science education in Germany, China and Indonesia. This research will compare science education between the three countries through several aspects, such as curriculum, teaching methods, teacher training, educational infrastructure, challenges and opportunities, and philosophical basis. The secondary data used in this research is obtained from reliable sources. The results show that the science education system in Germany is highly organised and focuses on an in-depth understanding of concepts. In contrast, science education in China is highly competitive, and academic achievement is prioritised. Science education in Indonesia tries to combine concept understanding and practical skills. However, implementation and assessment still need to be improved. Thus, a comparison of science education in Germany, China and Indonesia shows differences in curriculum, teaching methods, teacher training, educational infrastructure, opportunity challenges and philosophical basis. Each country has advantages and disadvantages. By thoroughly understanding science education in these countries, we can find many lessons that can be used to improve the science education system. Collaborative efforts and exchange of experiences between these countries will help improve science education.

Abstract

National education aims to produce dedicated, religious, moral individuals and cognitive intelligence. Applying students’ Islamic values through integrating Islam and science in science learning is one of the strategies that can be used to achieve these goals. Integrating Islam and science in science learning can direct the formation of knowledge about science concepts and improve students’ attitudes and spiritual skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of integrating Islam and science in science learning. This study explores the effect of integrating Islam and science in science learning with meta-analysis research by calculating effect size (ES). Research data were obtained from 38 studies from national and international journals. The results showed that integrating Islam and science in science learning has a significant impact, as seen from the ES of 0.658. It is explained that science learning integrating Islam and science can be an alternative learning method. Integrating Islam and science into science learning is an alternative educational method to achieve national education goals that can increase students’ intellectual and spiritual values. The results of this study can be utilized as a reference in the learning process and the development of teaching materials in science learning in the future.

Abstract

One of the activities to assess test quality is item analysis, which considers the general quality of the test and the quality of each item. The study was completed after tests were collected and run on all samples, and the results served as a guide for future quality improvement of the test. This study aims to analyze the validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discriminating power, and effectiveness of the distractors on Class IX Science questions at junior high school (SMP) Negeri 9 Batanghari. The data analysis technique used is a quantitative descriptive technique. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 9 Batanghari. Class IX students of SMP Negeri 9 Batanghari were used as research subjects. The population is all class IX students at SMP Negeri 9 Batanghari, totaling 50 students. The results of this study indicate that, in terms of (1) validity, 25 items (83%) are valid, and five items (17%) are invalid. (2) Reliability: The questions have excellent reliability, with a reliability coefficient of 0.87. (3) Difficulty level: There are seven easy questions (23%), 18 moderate questions (60%), and five difficult questions. (4) The ability to discriminate the items is considered good (moderate, good, and very good) for up to 86% of the questions. (5) The quality of the distractor is considered very good for up to 100% of the questions. Therefore, this science question can be used to assess student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 9 Batanghari because it fulfills the requirements of a learning evaluation instrument.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the quality of scientific literacy questions on biodiversity material using the ANATES application. ANATES (Test Analysis) is a computer application specifically developed to measure and evaluate the quality of exam questions. The research was conducted by collecting data from a collection of scientific literacy questions on biodiversity material and then analyzing it using ANATES. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. This research was carried out at Padang State University. The research subjects are Biology students in 2023 who are taking basic science courses. The population is all biology students in 2023 who are taking basic science courses. In this case, the sample used was only one class, namely biology education class C, totaling 35 people. The instrument used was scientific literacy questions on biodiversity material, totaling 25 questions. Next, the items are analyzed using ANATES to evaluate validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discriminating power, and distractor quality. The results of the analysis provide an in-depth picture of the quality of the scientific literacy questions on biodiversity material. It is hoped that the findings of this research can contribute to the development of better evaluation instruments for measuring students' understanding of biodiversity material. The implications of this research can be used by teachers, curriculum developers, and educational researchers to improve the quality of science learning at the secondary education level
