Abstract

ABSTRACTAnnona muricata L. is a kind of plant growing and fruiting perennially if the water  demond  is  apparently  sufficed.  A.  muricata  L.  seed  has  averagely  less germination power, however it can be improved by the induction. Coconut water is proved to induct that power because it contains some essences supporting seed growth: auxin, gibberellind and cytokinins. This research was carried out at 13rd January until25th   February in Physiology Laboratory of Biology Departement Unversity of Padang.This is a descriptive research which used six concentrates of coconut water are: 0%,20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% with every concentrate is put on four plastic scuttles. The observation was held six week to find out days when seed started growing and amount of seed germinating. The result showed that germination in 60% appeared in19th      day.  The  writer  summarizes  that  coconut  water  dad  not  be  able  to  inductgermination of A. muricata seed. The result evidenced that from 120 seeds germination, there werw only 7 seeds started growing.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT   Fusarium is the soil born pathogens fungi that cause withered disease in host plant. Fusarium can be hold in ground longtime, because it can be klamidospora. This fungi attack the water carrier network, so that it can  be disturb the transportation of host plant water. So the plant be withered, turn yellow and dwarf. The grow of fungi can be blocked by using biological agents, it is Trichoderma harzianum. The purpose of this research is follow to know T. harzianum ability in blocked the grow of F. oxysporum cause withered disease of papaya plants as In - Vitro. This research use RAL (The design of random completly) by 3 treatments. That consist of : (1) T. harzianum isolate 1, (2) T. harzianum isolate2, (3) T. harzianum isolate 3. The result of this research is analyzed by using Anova experiment (Analisis of Varians). The avarege of percentage result in the blocked treatment A = (60,63 %), treatment B = (51,36 %), treatment C = (65,27%). The average of colony diameter T. harzianum of treatment A = (7,53 mm), treatment B = (7,15 mm), treatment C = (8,17 mm). The average of colony diameter F. oxysporum of treatment A = (2,99 mm), treatment B = (3,18 mm), treatment C = (2,70 mm). It can be counlude that T. harzianum can blocked the grow of F. oxysporum cause of withered disease in pepaya plant (Carica papaya L) as In – Vitro.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPangan jajanan merupakan sarana bagi anak-anak dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan kecukupan gizi, tetapi juga berisiko menimbulkan keracunan jika tidak higienis. Menurut Undang–Undang RI nomor 18 tahun 2012 tentang pangan menyatakan bahwa keamanan pangan adalah usaha mencegah pangan dari kontaminasi biologis, kimia dan fisik. Laporan kasus kejadian luar biasa (KLB) yang dikeluarkan oleh BPOM tahun 2016 menyatakan bahwa 16,35% keracunan makanan di Indonesia berasal dari pangan jajanan di sekolah dan sebanyak 42,14%  berasal dari jajanan yang dibuat dari pangan rumah tangga. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Untuk menguji kualitas  jajanan anak sekolah dasar secara mikrobiologi di Kecamatan Koto Tangah Padang. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif untuk mengidentifikasi mikroba patogen dalam jajanan yang di jual pada 19 Kantin Sekolah Dasar pada bulan Maret hingga April 2018. Total sampel yang dapat disampling sebanyak 49 sampel. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pagi hari hingga menjelang jam istirahat siang. Sampel yang disampling dari kantin dibagi dalam tiga bentuk yaitu jajanan kering, jajanan basah dan minuman yang diberi es batu. Hasil penelitian dengan ditemukannya S.aureus pengkontaminasi pada 1 sampel (2,04%) dari jajanan kering dan E. coli sebanyak 3 sampel (6,12%) dari minuman yang diberi es batu, dan bakteri jenis lain sebanyak  91.82 %.Kata kunci:  Kualitas Mikrobiologi, Jajanan Anak Sekolah, Mikroba Patogen Pengkontaminan. ABSTRACTSchool Children Food (SCF) played an important role in providing nutrient intake of children nutritional  needs, in the other hand, it may has a risk of poisioning if unhygienic. According to the Law of Republic Indonesia number 18 of 2012 on food states that food security is an attempt to prevent food from biological, chemical and physical contamination. Report on Outbreaks issued by BPOM in 2016 states that 16.35% of food poisoning in Indonesia caused by contaminated SCF, and as much as 42.14% caused by contaminated of household SCF. The aim of this study is to test the microbiological quality of Elementay SCF in Sub-district Koto Tangah Padang. This descriptive research would like to identify pathogenic microbial in SCF which sold at 19 elementary school canteen during periode of time March to April 2018. The total samples are 49. Time of sampling conducted from morning until right before lunchtime. The samples categorized into three forms which are dried, wet and ice-cubed drinks. The result showed that one sample (2.04%) of dried SCF was contaminated by S. aureus, three samples (6.12%) of Iced-cube drinks was contaminated by E.coli and the rest (91.82%) was contaminated by other bacteria. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of fluorescent pseudomonads on some carrier with the addition of stabilizer glycerol in controlling Blood Disease Bacteria invitro. The experiment was conducted from May to July 2013, housed in the Laboratory of Plant Physiology, FMIPA UNP. Parameters measured were the amount of inhibition zone diameter fluorescent pseudomonads in controlling BDB CAS3 invitro. Observations preservation is done every 10 days until a preservation period of 60 days. This study is an experiment in completely randomized design (CRD) with 9 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were fluorescent pseudomonads carrier CAS3 on tapioca (glycerol addition of 0,03 mL, 0,04 mL and 0,05 mL); carrier CAS3 fluorescent pseudomonads in rice flour (glycerol addition of 0,03 mL, 0,04 mL and 0,05 mL); carrier CAS3 fluorescent pseudomonads on talc (glycerol addition of 0,03 mL, 0,04 mL and 0,05 mL). Inhibition zone diameter data were analyzed using ANOVA at 5% significance level and continued with DNMRT test at 5% significance level. The results showed that the large inhibitory zone formed around the Blood Disease Bacteria vary. Results of analysis of variance on the preservation period of 10 days was significantly different at DNMRT further test, with the largest inhibition zone that is in treatment F (6,41mm) and the lowest in treatment I (1.15mm), whereas the preservation period of 20 to 60 days is not significantly different. All types of fluorescent pseudomonads carrier Cas3 potential in controlling Blood Disease Bacteria invitro.Key words : pseudomonad fluoresen, Blood Disease Bacteria, Glycerol

Abstract

Pseudomonad fluorescents (Pf) is a biological agent that has been reported to enhance the growth of many plants because it can produce plant growth substance (auxin, gibberellins, and cytokinins), phosphate solvent enzyme, and siderofor. Information about the frequency of Pf in improving plant growth is limited. This study aimed to investigate the effect of  biofertilizer applied frequency on upland rice growth. The study was conducted from October to December 2011 in the screenhouse and Laboratory of Biological Department, Padang  State University. This study is experimental and the design used was randomized block design with 6 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment is the frequency of Pf applied there are without Pf (control), once, twice, three times, four times and five times. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and further test DNMRT the real level of 5%. The result showed that application of biofertilizer able to increasethe number of tillers and biomass of upland rice. However, the frequency of Pf has no effect on plant height, number of tillers, the wet weight and plant biomass.Key words : Pseudomonad flourescen, frequency, upland rice, biofertilizer

Abstract

This research had been done to know the mass production of Pf (Fluorescent Pseudomonads) in coconut liquid media. Randomized Complete Design (RCD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications was implemented in this research which consisted of 5 incubation periods: the 0, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8thweeks. The data gathered were analyzed by ANOVA and DNMRT (5% confidence level). As the result, the incubation period within 6 weeks in coconut liquid media gave good response to increase the mass production of Pf. On the other hand, the incubation period within 8 weeks gave bad response.Key words: Pseudomonad fluoresen, mass production, coconut liquid

Abstract

Long term period of using fertilizers is not beneficial for soil fertility due to decreasing soil organic matter content. Otherwise, the source of organic matter widely available as waste in the environment are not used optimally because the naturally decomposition quite long time. This problem can be overcome by utilizing various types of microbes, such as Trichoderma. This research conducted to determine the effect of organic fertilizer from the decomposition result of T. harzianum in enhancing growth of spinach plant. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were doses variation of decomposition of organic material; 0 g, 15 g, 30 g, 45 g, 60 g and 75 g. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and continued with Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results showed that the application doses  of organic fertilizer from decomposition result influences height, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight and dry weight of spinach plants. Optimal dose for all growth is 45 grams/polybag.

Abstract

The main goal of the study is the occurrence of behavioral changes into better of the students. It can be realized if teachers carry out effectively as educators, included organize the subject matters into teaching materials. One teaching material can be helpfully used to help students understand the materials is module because it can stimulates students to learn individually  at both school and home based on their own learning pace. Character education emphasis leads the students to know the importance of understanding the  character in life. Inquiry approach will help students improve their understanding of the. Based on the needs, the researcher developd a characterized module equipped with students’ worksheet by using inquiry approach for junior high school students grade IX at first semester. Type of this researh is development research. This module is developed by using model of developing IDI (Instructional Development Institute) consisting of three phases namely defining, developing, and evaluating. Data collection is done through validation and test of developed module to get the data practicality and effectivity. Modul planning of the designed module is validated by five (5) experts and practitioners and tested on limited basis at grade VIII students of SMPN 2 Tanjung Baru. The result of the research shows module in valid category. Based in the limited test, it is known that module is in practical category for both teachers and students. The result of students’ activity observation indicates that module is in very effective category. Students’ scores shows mastery of learning over minimum standard which means that module is in effective category. Researcher concludes that module equipped with students’ worksheet by using inquiry approach for junior high school students grade IX first semester is valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

Biology competence of students grade XI science in senior high school 1 Sungai Tarab is still low because the teacher has not used an apropriate learning model 2013 curriculum-based yet. It makes students felt difficult to understand the concept, less-motivated, less active in the class, shy to ask, and give opinion. The characteristics of the topic should be considered in choosing a model which suits to the concept and princip of the topic. Based on the overview on the characteristics of the topic, Guided Discovery Learning an Problem Based Learning models can be used in teaching and learning processes. Therefore, this research is conducted related to the comperative study of biology competence of XI MIA students between Guided Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning models in the topic of digestion system. The purpose of this reseach is to find differences between biology competence of the students who use Guided Discovery Learning model and the ones who use Problem Based Learning model in the topic of digestion system in senior high school 1 Sungai Tarab students grade XI science the academic year 2014/2015 Type of the research was quasi experimental research with The Static Group Comparison design. The population was three classes of the XI MIA senior high school 1 Sungai Tarab in the academic Year 2014/2015 and the sample which using Purposive Sampling technique was XI MIA2 as the first experimental class and XI MIA3 as the second experimental class. Instruments used were objective test and observation sheet. Data analysis used was t test with criteria: if tcount>ttable, hypothesis was accepted and vice versa (cognitive aspect), and u test with criteria: if Zcount>Ztable, hypothesis was accepted and vice versa (affective and psychomotor aspect). Data analysis of cognitive aspect in a significant rate (α) = 0,05 with dk 37 was tcount= 3, 0749 >ttable= 1, 6905, the hypothesis was accepted. So did affective and psychomotor aspect, Zcount= 1, 756>Ztable= 1, 6905 (affective) and Zcount= 1,8820>Ztable= 1, 6905 (psychomotor), the hypothesis was accepted. The results indicated that the students’ biology competency were significantly different between Guided Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning model. Students’ biology competency using Problem Based Learning model was better than Guided Discovery Learning model.

Abstract

One aspect in learning that is related with the quality of learning is the availability of materials for students in learning process that assist students learning material independently. One of materials which can help students lead to independence learning is module. Through module, students can learn based on their own ability in learning. Module can be used for biology lesson. To facilitate students in understanding the biology lesson which is rich in concept, it takes an approach that focuses on emphasizing the learning concepts, and can apply in daily activity namely CTL approach map concept. The result of study is description of the CTL approach biology lesson modules equipped with map concept for 11th grade of Senior High School at the human regulatory system and human reproduction system material.
