Abstract

Dukun, wong pinter, and other terms, commonly constitutes to the term of shamanism, are often interpreted in the same way. In particular, the dukun and wong pinter are generally understood as persons who have extraordinary or even supernatural powers, are capable of communicating with spirits and understanding the unseen, can generally help resolve issues faced by members of their communities, including illnesses, spiritual disturbances, lost items, unfortunate fates, etc. They are also predicated to charge to the patient and even willing to help witchcraft to harm other people. In fact, not all shamans have negative behaviors. In Temanggung, Central Java, though this general understanding is still common, there is distinction in the specific details and characteristics of the dukun and wong pinter. Dukun are often understood negatively, meanwhile the wong pinter has more positive connotations. Because of the different principle meaning the both terms should not be generalized and used appropriately and wisely. Improper use can cause discomfort in the community, and academically the both term actually refers to a completely different subject characteristics.

Abstract

Worldviews are an important part of human life because they illustrate the ways people think and act. This article aims to review studies conducted by scholars, definitions of the term "worldview", and scientists' explorations of worldviews, and to examine how such categories may be applied to capture reality. This study concludes that worldviews have been the focus of intensive studies since the 1980s. Many scientists have defined the concept of "worldview" and attempted to explain its dynamics. Studies of worldviews can be grouped into several paradigms. Because of the extent of the study area, theoretically worldviews can be classified into several categories based on, for example, views of self and others, time, space, relationships, and causation. In reality, the worldview of a society can be seen in how members of the society live in relation to God, nature, people, and the environment. In examining the worldviews held in social reality, the specific categories mapped by scholars must be made congruent with the realities in the field, because sometimes these categories are interrelated and difficult to understand separately.

Abstract

GLOBAL-LOCAL CONCEPT AS A CULTURAL BASIS FOR ART IN SANGGAR DEWATA INDONESIAAbstract: The face of Indonesian art contains multicultural, intercultural, and diverse values in the dialectics of regional arts and global culture. The rise of local culture is often caused by global cultural friction. The attraction and tension between global culture and local culture results in the 'glocalization' of culture. This article aims to explore the values of locality and global culture as a creative foundation for art in the Balinese diaspora art community, Sanggar Dewata Indonesia (SDI) which is culturally and philosophically insightful. The Balinese diaspora gradually has a new cultural identity as a result of the acculturation of Balinese culture with the local culture. Likewise, in the aspect of the language of art, Balinese diaspora artists in Yogyakarta are accommodative, experiencing visual transformation, syncretic, and contain hybridization of cultural values. This study utilizes qualitative methods with a formal study of cultural philosophy through an interpretive approach. The cultural interpretive approach has resulted that the culture and art process of the SDI art community are symbolically the result of the legacy of the collective conception system both in communicating, perpetuating and developing knowledge to attitudes towards artistic life. The mission and vision of SDI includes the spirit of nationalism, Pancasila nationalism, multiculturalism, in order to achieve the international art world, which is more heterogeneous and competitive. Thus the local-global spirit is accompanied by a process of reinterpretation and re-contextualization of a time that presents a thinking discourse, creative vision through creative dialectics that is filled with local-global acculturation shock power towards world-class global art competition. Keywords: Globalization, Locality values, Multiculturalism, Sanggar Dewata IndonesiaKONSEPSI LOKAL-GLOBAL SEBAGAI BASIS KULTURAL BERKESENIAN SANGGAR DEWATA INDONESIAAbstrak: Wajah seni rupa Indonesia mengandung nilai multikultur, interkultural, serta berbhineka dalam dialektika kesenian daerah dan kebudayaan global.

Abstract

This article examines the creation myth in Serat Purwakandha Brantakusuman (SPB), how its characteristics are compared to myths in Indonesia and existing mythical theories, and explains philosophical themes that can be examined from these myths in order to give its theoretical contributions in existing mythical theories. It is a literature study by reviewing books texts, research reports, journals, and other sources. The analysis is done by interpretation, coherence-holistic, description, and analysis-synthesis. The theoretical framework used is the myth theory C A. Van Peursen and Clifford Geertz. The results of the study indicate that the myth of the creation of plants in SPB is based on the story of the death of Dewi Tisnawati who was banished to earth. The study of myths about the origin of plants is new because research examining myths related to agriculture and Dewi Sri, the influence of myths in life and human activities, forms of rituals and socio-cultural activities, and the relationship between myths and art, are more related to origin place. The myths in SPB and myths in Indonesia contribute to supporting myth concepts that have been described by great thinkers. The creation myth and other myths in the SPB can be subject to study from the perspective of the branches of philosophy and its conceptual substances can also be criticized philosophically
