Abstract

The globalization era significantly impacts daily behavior, including the field of education. This highlights the necessity for individuals to continuously adapt to avoid being left behind by rapid advancements. However, in practice, the utilization of digital literacy remains suboptimal, as teachers often rely solely on books as learning resources, which can lead to student disengagement when faced with lengthy texts. This study aims to produce the Kiddyfun platform, designed to be effective, efficient, and engaging in stimulating digital literacy skills among children aged 4–6 years. The study subjects included two material expert validators, two media expert validators, four teacher users, 40 children aged 4–5 years, and 40 children aged 5–6 years. The research employed a development method based on the ADDIE model. Data collection techniques involved observation sheets and questionnaires, analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the media validity test scored 89% (highly feasible), the material validity test scored 94% (highly feasible), the user test scored 97% (highly feasible), the small group test scored 100% (highly feasible), and the large group test scored 96% (highly feasible). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the innovation of Kiddyfun platform is highly feasible and engaging. The implication of this media development is its potential to enrich digital learning resources to stimulate literacy skills in children aged 4–6 years.

Abstract

Critical thinking and learning motivation are essential competencies for 21st-century students; however, these skills remain relatively low in science education due to teacher-centered instruction and the limited use of engaging media. To address this issue, innovative approaches that integrate effective learning models with appealing learning resources are required. This study investigates the effect of incorporating a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) science magazine on junior high school students’ learning motivation and critical thinking skills in ecology and biodiversity. A quantitative research design was applied using a pretest–posttest control group design, involving two groups of students including an experimental class that used a PBL-based science magazine and a control class that employed a discovery learning worksheet. The results of the independent sample t-test revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups. Furthermore, the N-Gain test demonstrated high effectiveness, with an N-Gain score of 0.71 for learning motivation and 0.70 for critical thinking skills. These findings suggest that the integration of PBL-based science magazines has a substantial positive impact on students’ learning motivation and critical thinking, highlighting the potential of combining innovative models and media to strengthen science learning outcomes.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe the improvement of reading comprehension ability by using the PORPE strategy on the 4th grade students of Elementary School No.05 Bandar Buat, Padang. Research subjects were teachers and 28 students in the 4th grade of Elementary School No. 05 Bandar Buat, Padang. This study is a classroom action research that uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed that the students’ ability in reading comprehension increased from 75,1 (Enough) with 55,5% level of mastery in cycle I, to 92,7 (Very Good) with 92,9% level of mastery in cycle II. The percentage of improvement from cycle I to cycle II is 17,6 %. Based on these results, it is concluded that the PORPE strategy can improve the ability of reading comprehension of the 4th grade students of Elementary School. Keywords: Reading comprehension ability; PORPE strategy

Abstract

Dalam kurikulum merdeka, open ended play adalah salah satu bentuk aktivitas bermain yang menerapkan merdeka bermain sebagai salah satu wujud inovasi dalam pengembangan bahan ajar untuk anak usia dini di lembaga PAUD. Namun banyak guru belum memahami terkait perumusan bahan ajar sesuai kurikulum merdeka yang dapat memunculkan kemampuan tingkat tinggi peserta didik. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman terkait implementasi kurikulum merdeka, pengembangan modul ajar sesuai kurikulum merdeka di PAUD, dan strategi pengembangan bajan ajar yang inovatif berbasis digital. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengabdian plan-do review dengan teknik pengumpulan data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pengabdian ini adalah para guru memiliki kemampuan baik tentang materi pelatihan yang diberikan selama pengabdian, dengan pencapaian persentase keberhasilan yakni 92.08% yang sebelumnya hanya 71,67%. Keberlangsungan kegiatan ini mendapatkan feedback baik dari para guru maupun anak didik, karena pelatihan ini dapat menambah referensi guru dalam menyajikan materi pembelajaran kepada anak didik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil dari pelatihan ini dapat diterima oleh anak dan guru dalam proses pembelajaran.
