Abstract

Biodiversity is one of local wisdom that should be kept and maintained. Several local governments have different ways of managing and maintaining their existence, including in Krimun village-Losarang, Indramayu District, West Java Province. This study is aimed at finding the information about Suku Dayak people in Losarang (which is not same as Dayak in Borneo Island), how they manage and utilize biodiversity in their surroundings, and how it relates to the local wisdom. This is a qualitative research with instruments consists of interview sheets, field notes, and audio-visual documentation. The subject of this research is the Suku Losarang Dayak people whom are selected through incidental sampling techniques. The study of Ethnobotany includes utilization of 56 species plants as food, three species as boards, nine species for medicine, two species for aesthetics, and nine species for rituals. Ethnoecology here means the conservation of community of the Suku Dayak Losarang people toward surrounding ecosystems that are conserved for the needs of farming, shelter, and ritual. Concerning for ethnozoology, none of the species was used because they have a principle "ngaji rasa". This principle means that they would not be allowed to consume or to make use of the living creatures.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Instruction learning model on the concept of pollution to the problem solving ability of high school students. This research is a kind of quantitative research. Population in this research is student of class X SMA Negeri 1 Lohbener. Cluster random sampling technique was taken by two classes and obtained by X-MIPA 4 students as experiment class by using Problem Based Instruction and X-MIPA 2 as control class by using discussion method. The instrument used is in the form of five essay questions in accordance with the problem-solving indicator that is restricted to the C3-C5 cognitive domain that has been tested for its validity and reliability. After a different treatment, each posttest is given. Based on the result of the research, the average value of experimental class is 72.25 and the control class average 58.95. Then by using t test, obtained tcount = 4.092> ttabel = 1.680. Based on hypothesis testing can be stated that Ho is rejected. So that the problem-based instruction model influences student's problem solving abilities. Keywords: pollution, problem based instruction, and problem solving ability. Kata Kunci: pencemaran, problem based instruction, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah.

Abstract

Natural Science (IPA) is an important learning in elementary schools. IPA is knowledge related to natural phenomena, not only a collection of facts and concepts, but also about how to work, how to think, and how to solve problems. Natural science is also interpreted as knowledge about nature obtained based on human experience due to interaction with its environment. Problems that often arise in learning the content of IPA material include the lack of availability of learning media, teaching and learning activities using more lecture methods, students' attention is less focused on the provision of material by the teacher. To realize meaningful IPA learning, learning media are needed. Learning media are all tools that can be used to achieve educational goals. Learning media have a very important function in learning activities, both for teachers and students. Learning media will make learning more interesting, can provide meaningful learning experiences, activate and please children and the existence of learning media will provide motivation in the learning process. Examples of learning media that can be applied to science learning are learning media that utilize used goods. Learning media from used goods is an interesting and creative alternative to make the teaching and learning process more effective and enjoyable. by using items available in the surrounding environment, especially used goods such as cardboard, bottled drinking water, paper, straws, etc. In addition, the use of used goods can also help foster a sense of love for the environment in children. Learning media from used goods can make the teaching and learning process more interesting and enjoyable, so that it can increase children's interest in learning. Utilizing used goods to make learning media can help develop children's creativity. Playing with learning media from used goods can help train children's motor skills. Utilizing used goods to make learning media can help foster a sense of love for the environment in children. Therefore, we students who are doing KKN 2024 in Anjatan Utara Village, Anjatan District took the initiative to apply learning media from used goods to increase students' creativity and awareness of the environment.

Abstract

The scientific reasoning of students at MA Negeri 1 Indramayu is in the moderate category. Biodiversity teaching materials based on ethnobiological studies have never been applied. This study aims to determine the influence of biodiversity teaching materials based on ethnobiological studies on the scientific reasoning of students at MA Negeri 1 Indramayu. The research method used, that is, quantitative. The design of this study, namely true experimental design with the type of posttest only control design. The population of this study, namely class X MA Negeri 1 Indramayu students consisting of 3 classes with a sample of class X MIPA 1 totaling 30 students as an experimental group and class X MIPA 3 totaling 29 students as a control group. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. The instruments used are in the form of tests and questionnaires. Data analysis using normality test, homogeneity test, t-test and likert scale. The results showed that the average scientific reasoning of the experimental group students was higher compared to the control group. Based on the hypothesis test value (thitung = 3.392 > ttabel 2.2002) so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, that is to say, there is a significant influence of biodiversity teaching materials based on ethnobiological studies on the scientific reasoning of students in MA Negeri 1 Indramayu. Students' scientific reasoning is in the high category with a percentage of 66.72%.
