Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kreativitas mahasiswa dalam menghasilkan produk dan cara-cara yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kreativitas setelah mendapat perlakuan metode proyek dengan pola brainstorming dalam mata kuliah Praktik Fabrikasi. Penelitian ini termasuk quasi experiment. Teknik analisis yang digunakan, yaitu: (1) analisis dekriptif; (2) Uji-t sampel berkorelasi; dan Uji-t independent. Pelaksanaan kerja proyek (project work)  pada masing-masing kelompok dilakukan dengan empat tahap, yaitu: (1) persiapan, (2) pengembangan ide, (3) seleksi ide, dan (4) penentuan ide. Pada tahap persiapan, mahasiswa mengumpulkan berbagai informasi mengenai obyek yang akan dibuat. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa kreativitas mahasiswa sebelum perlakuan pada kelompok perlakuan sebesar 55,02% dan kelompok control sebesar 54,12%. Kreativitas mahasiswa setelah perlakuan pada kelompok perlakuan sebesar 70,32% dan kelompok kontrol sebesar 58,85%. Ada peningkatan kreativitas mahasiswa secara signifikan setelah diberi perlakuan dengan model belajar brainstorming. Terdapat perbedaan kreativitas yang signifikan antara mahasiswa kelompok perlakuan dengan kelompok kontrol setelah perlakuan dengan model belajar brainstorming.

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the difference of creativity between the students treated with the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) strategy and the students treated with the Direct Learning strategy. It was a quasi-experimental study employing the non-equivalent control group design. It was conducted using the 2x2 factorial design. The research population were 40 students attending the course of Fabrication Construction Design. The results of the study showed that (1) The creativity of the students using the SCL strategy attained mean scores of 42.65, higher than the students using the Direct Learning strategy with mean scores of 39. (2) The students with high spatial ability using the SCL strategy attained mean scores of 49, higher than the students using the Direct Learning strategy with mean scores of 36.3. (3) The students with low spatial ability using the SCL strategy attained mean scores of 36.3, lower than the students using the Direct Learning strategy with mean scores of 41.70. (4) There was an interaction between the learning strategy and the spatial ability in terms of the effect on the creativity.

Abstract

The implementation of practice-work learning need to be evaluated periodically to determine wether the equipments and the learning methods are appropriate to the main purpose of learning, which is the establishment of learners' competency. The evaluation process in this research was carried out by adopting the CIPP evaluation methods. The research objects are lecturers and students participating in the Material Forming Practice course. Data were collected using documentation, observation and questionnaires and were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results show that the implementation of Material Forming Practice course in the half semester of academic year 2016/2017 was very successful. Barriers faced by the lecturers were the lack of students' comprehension in flat pattern drawing, mathematical analysis skills, lack of motivation in reading jobsheet, and the lack of students' adaptation to the practice environment. Barriers faced by the students came from the lecturers, workpiece materials, low category workshop conditions, the shop equipments are in moderate category, whereas jobsheets and technicians are in the very low category. The condition of the equipments in terms of quantity is sufficient, but in terms of quality, many still needs repairs and renewals. The students' learning achiements in the midterm semester was the ability to finish 4 jobs with marks as follow: 53% were graded "A", 35% were graded "B"and the remaining 12% were graded "C". Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian peralatan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan tujuan akhir pembelajaran yaitu pembentukan kompetensi mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan mengadopsi metode evaluasi CIPP. Objek penelitian adalah dosen pengampu dan mahasiswa peserta mata kuliah praktik Pembentukan Bahan tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi, observasi, dan angket. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan praktik Pembentukan Bahan selama setengah semester terlaksana dengan sangat baik. Hambatan yang dialami dosen yaitu kurangnya kemampuan mahasiswa dalam memahami gambar bentangan, analisis matematika, adaptasi dengan lingkungan praktik, dan malas membaca jobsheet. Hambatan mahasiswa dari dosen, bahan, dan kondisi bengkel termasuk kategori rendah, alat termasuk kategori sedang, jobsheet dan teknisi termasuk kategori rendah sekali. Kondisi peralatan secara kuantitas mencukupi, tetapi kualitasnya perlu perbaikan dan peremajaan. Pada pertengahan semester mahasiswa mampu menyelesaikan 4 materi pekerjaan dengan perolehan nilai A sebanyak 53%, nilai B sebanyak 35% dan nilai C sebanyak 12%.

Abstract

This research focused on the development of an animal feed mixer machine to improve mixing capacity. The research used an experimental model and involved need analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The goal was to determine the optimal rotational speed of a stirrer screw for different types of animal feeds as well as understand the stages of making the machine and its working principle. The process involved manufacturing the frame, shaft, transmission, screw fins, sheet metal process, and assembly. The results shows that the animal feed mixer machine with a stirring speed of 312.3 rotations/minute was able to produce 958.3 kg of feed in one hour. This stirring speed provides the best fuel consumption, which is 676.5 ml/hour. The mixer has a safe element on the reduction shaft, with 115.8 kg.mm of torque and 5.82 kW of power. Thus, this mixer is an efficient and productive solution for the animal feed industry.

Abstract

One of the flag ship products of Bantul area is a traditional foodproduct that is made from chips mlinjo based mlinjo. For rural areas,potential areas of Bantul strongly supports the development of traditionalfood craft industry mlinjo chips. Mlinjo plants are very easy to get inBantul. Melinjo kind of chips are made from fruit that has been melinjoold. Making chips is not difficult and can be done using simple tools.Mlinjo is one of the processing of agricultural commodity prices are high.These commodities can be exported to neighboring countries. But the factis lack of capital held, the lack of touch technology in the productionprocess, especially in the roaster mlinjo quickly, applied managementsystem is very simple, so profits and losses can not be detected properly,yet have the ability to use information technology can be used as amarketing medium.To achieve these objectives, the methods used in this activity is thecreation of training mlinjo roaster machine that can be adjusted as neededto improve the quality and quantity. Web design training to support themarketing of products crackers mlinjo, business management training. IbMSmall Industries Group activities Craftsmen Emping mlinjo in Beji,displays Bantul Yogyakarta for 3 days on 3, 4, and 5 November 2013at 07:30 to 16:30 pm. In general, all participants followed the eventswith high motivation and earnest. It is evident in their attendance on aregular basis for three days and follow each session with care andenthusiasm. The questions they launched during the opening session.Things are less clear they as to obtain understanding. The first day oftraining activities, participant follow carefully. Abstract

The purpose of this study are: (1) to determine the effect of elaboration organization strategy and textbook for students with distinct spatial cognitive style on learning outcomes of Mechanical Drawing course, (2) interaction between the learning strategy and the cognitive style in effect to the learning outcomes of Mechanical Drawing course. The methods being used was quasi experiment with 2 by 2 factorial design and Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Research population was all student enrolled in the Mechanical Drawing course. Results show that elaboration learning strategy perform better in the learning outcomes of mechanical drawing compared to using textbook, for students with high spatial cognitive. It also confirmed that there is an interaction between learning strategy and spatial cognitive which affects mechanical drawing skills of the students.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengetahui pengaruh strategi pengorganisasian elaborasi dan buku teks pada mahasiswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif spasial berbeda terhadap hasil belajar mata kuliah Gambar Mesin, (2) interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dengan gaya kognitif dalam pengaruhnya terhadap hasil belajar mata kuliah Gambar Mesin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experimen yang dilaksanakan dengan rancangan faktorial 2 x 2 dan Prestest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik UNY yang mengikuti perkuliahan Gambar Mesin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata nilai keterampilan gambar mesin mahasiswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran Elaborasi sebesar 63,13 dan rerata nilai untuk strategi pembelajaran buku teks sebesar 57,97. Strategi pembelajaran secara elaborasi memberikan hasil keterampilan gambar mesin yang lebih tinggi daripada menggunakan buku teks bagi mahasiswa yang berkemampuan spasial tinggi. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan adanya interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan kemampuan spasial yang mempengaruhi keterampilan gambar mesin mahasiswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design and to analyze the feasibility of universal cylindrical grinding attachment that can be attached to conventional lathes. The research is a quantitative research using ADDIE Reseach and Development (R&D) procedure. Data were collected using observation, by means of questionnaire and documentation. Data were analyzed using quantitative-descriptive technique. Results are: (1) the universal cylindrical grinding attachment design is a modified hand-grinding machine with added components to add internal cylindrical grinding functionality; (2) all aspects are in the category of "strongly agree", so it can be concluded that the design is feasible to use.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang mesin universal cylindrical grinding attachment yang dapat dipasang dan digunakan pada mesin bubut konvensional serta untuk mengetahui kelayakannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif dengan prosedur penelitian Pengembangan/Reseach and Development (R&D) model ADDIE. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan alat pengumpul data menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) Rancangan mesin universal cylindrical grinding attachment pada mesin bubut manual dibuat dengan memodifikasi mesin gerinda tangan dengan dengan menambahkan beberapa komponen, yaitu: tapper shaft, clamping nuts, slive, shank, nut, bottom holder, dan top holder, sehingga fungsinya bertambah yaitu mampu digunakan untuk menggerinda internal silindris.; (2) rentang penilaian rerata keseluruhan aspek  termasuk dalam kategori sangat setuju, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa mesin ini layak untuk digunakan.

Abstract

This study aimed at implementing Casting Laboratory model to build competence of teacher candidate of Vocational High School of Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The study is conducted by try out application approach. The procedure comprised of equipment preparation, layout arrangement, practice and evaluation. Data were collected by observation. The research subject was two classes of third semester bachelor students of MEED YSU who enrolled in Advanced Engineering Materials practical course. The two classes consist of 4 teams and within each team there were 4 groups. The practical work was carried out 2 times. The results show that the Casting Laboratory model has met all of the qualification of a learning facility to build student competence in unpressurized casting process. Among these competencies are ability in pattern making, sand preparation, sand-mold making, planning raw materials and smelting process, handling and pouring of molten metal, disassembling and cleaning, and evaluating the cast. The Casting Laboratory layout has qualified as work area for casting practice. The layout makes supervision and movement of workers and materials easy. Tools and equipment are fitting and adequate. The Laboratory model for aluminum casting is effective and efficient to develop competence in casting.Penelitian ini bertujuan menerapkan model Laboratorium Pengecoran untuk membentuk kompetensi calon guru Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Program Studi Teknik Mesin. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan uji aplikasi. Prosedur terdiri dari persiapan peralatan, pengaturan tata letak, praktik dan evaluasi. Data dikumpulkan dengan observasi. Subjek penelitian adalah adalah 2 kelas mahasiswa semester tiga program S1 teknik mesin MEED YSU yang mengikuti praktik bahan teknik lanjut, terdiri dari 4 tim dan masing-masing tim dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Praktikum dilaksanakan dua kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Laboratorium Pengecoran telah memenuhi syarat sebagai fasilitas pembelajaran untuk membentuk kompetensi siswa dalam proses pengecoran tanpa tekanan. Kompetensi yang dibentuk adalah kemampuan dalam membuat pola, menyiapkan pasir, membuat cetakan pasir, merencanakan bahan baku dan proses melebur, menanganani dan menuangkan logam cair, membongkar dan membersihkan, serta mengevaluasi produk pengecoran. Tata letak Laboratorium Pengecoran telah memenuhi syarat sebagai area kerja untuk praktik pengecoran. Ini memberi kemudahan dalam pengawasan dan pergerakan orang dan barang. Alat dan peralatan sudah sesuai dan memadai. Model laboratorium untuk pengecoran aluminium efektif dan efisien untuk mengembangkan kompetensi pengecoran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Menghasilkan produk media bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, (2) Mengetahui kelayakan  bahan ajar mata kuliah Perawatan dan Perbaikan Mesin Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian pengembangan Research and Development (R&D). Subjek penelitian dan pengembangan bahan ajar ini yaitu 4 dosen ahli materi, 4 dosen ahli media, dan 46 mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menghasilkan produk bahan ajar mata kuliah Perawatan dan Perbaikan Mesin Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin. Bahan Ajar mata kuliah Perawatan dan Perbaikan Mesin ini dinyatakan layak berdasarkan penilaian produk yang rerata keseluruhan mendapat nilai 3,35 dengan klasifikasi "Sangat Baik". This paper reports a study that examined the design and evaluation process of a learning object material (LOM) in Machinery Maintenance and Repair. The study's main objective is: (1) to develop a LOM that is most suitable for the Mechanical Engineering Education study program and (2) to evaluate the LOM per the Study Program's requirements. The study implements the Research and Development method. Research Subjects are material experts comprising 4 lecturers, four learning media experts, and 46 students. The research output is a LOM for Machinery Maintenance and Repair qualified for teaching and learning in the Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The study's results suggested that the LOM is suitable and classified as "Very Good," averaging a total point of 3,35.

Abstract

Welding is one of the most essential competencies in the metal fabrication industry. Therefore, effective SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) practice learning strategies are critical to ensuring quality learning outcomes. In vocational high schools (VHS), however, challenges persist, such as low student performance, joint defects, and a lack of industry-relevant learning models. These issues underscore the need for a more in-depth examination of practical learning strategies and efforts to enhance student competencies, an area that remains underexplored. This study aims to explore strategies for improving SMAW practice learning through a single-case study conducted in a vocational high school (VHS). Data were collected via in-depth interviews with six welding teachers and four certified student welders, supported by document analysis. The findings indicate that three main strategies are essential: (1) understanding and application of welding parameters by students, (2) intensive mentoring from teachers, and (3) independent evaluation by students. These strategies have the potential to enhance both understanding and performance in SMAW practical learning in vocational settings.
