Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine various defects in the welding joint works from the participants of Vocational High School students’ skills competition in Yogyakarta area for welding field. This study can be categorized as a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection method was using documentation. The data was analyzed using descriptive qualitative technique. The results showed that in the preparation, the students were lack of understanding and knowledge in determining the welding requirements, the welding current, the type of electrodes SMAW. In the welding process, some participants did not fulfil the welding procedure during the welding process such as mistakes in setting up the SMAW machine, setting the welding current properly, selecting an electrode based on the type and thickness of the workpiece, and mistakes in the process of fit up. In the post-welding process, there were a few mistakes such as the grinding process to clean weld spatter that damaged the ridge.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kreativitas mahasiswa dalam menghasilkan produk dan cara-cara yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kreativitas setelah mendapat perlakuan metode proyek dengan pola brainstorming dalam mata kuliah Praktik Fabrikasi. Penelitian ini termasuk quasi experiment. Teknik analisis yang digunakan, yaitu: (1) analisis dekriptif; (2) Uji-t sampel berkorelasi; dan Uji-t independent. Pelaksanaan kerja proyek (project work)  pada masing-masing kelompok dilakukan dengan empat tahap, yaitu: (1) persiapan, (2) pengembangan ide, (3) seleksi ide, dan (4) penentuan ide. Pada tahap persiapan, mahasiswa mengumpulkan berbagai informasi mengenai obyek yang akan dibuat. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa kreativitas mahasiswa sebelum perlakuan pada kelompok perlakuan sebesar 55,02% dan kelompok control sebesar 54,12%. Kreativitas mahasiswa setelah perlakuan pada kelompok perlakuan sebesar 70,32% dan kelompok kontrol sebesar 58,85%. Ada peningkatan kreativitas mahasiswa secara signifikan setelah diberi perlakuan dengan model belajar brainstorming. Terdapat perbedaan kreativitas yang signifikan antara mahasiswa kelompok perlakuan dengan kelompok kontrol setelah perlakuan dengan model belajar brainstorming.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to investigate the implementation of the curriculum (2) to examine the condition of the equipment used in Oxy-Acetylene Welding (OAW) practices 3) to identify problems experienced by the students and the lecturers (4) to determine the students’achievement of OAW practices. This study was categorised into descriptive quantitative. It was explorative with the Context, Input, Process and Product (CIPP) evaluation method. The objects of this study were the students in the course of OAW practices. The data collection techniques were documentation, observation and questionnaires administration. The data was analysed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the OAW practices curriculum was very effective with the mean scores of 93.4%. The problems experienced by the students were resulted from the materials, the equipment, the lecturers, the toolman, the workshop environment, and the jobsheets. Each of them contributed fairly to the problems. The problems consist of low motivation, low safety concerns, inadequate rooms, inadequate equipment and low quantity of practices. The students learning achievement was very good indicated by 60% of the students achieved the good score

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) prestasi belajar praktik las asitilin atau Oxy Acetylene Welding (OAW) mahasiswa yang menggunakan proses pembelajaran dengan metode Inquiry; 2) perbedaan prestasi belajar Praktik OAW antara mahasiswa yang proses pembelajarannya menggunakan metode inquiry dengan yang tidak; dan 3) peningkatan prestasi belajar Praktik OAW mahasiswa yang proses pembelajarannya menggunakan metode inquiry. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian quasi experiment dengan populasi seluruh mahasiswa yang mengkuti mata kuliah Praktik Fabrikasi. Sampel diambil sebanyak  68 orang yang dikelompokkan menjadi dua, kelompok eksperimen dan  kelompok kontrol. Prestasi belajar dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan untuk mengetahui perbedaan prestasi belajar digunakan Uji-t sampel independen, sedangkan untuk mengetahui peningkatan prestasi belajar dianalisis dengan Uji-t sampel berkorelasi. Sebelum dianalisis dilakukan uji persyaratan analisis yaitu homogenitas dan normalitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) rerata prestasi belajar kelompok eksperimen awal adalah 75,13, dan setelah perlakuan sebesar 84,67. Rerata kelompok kontrol: awal sebesar 73,91 dan akhir sebesar 77,66; 2) Ada perbedaan prestasi belajar Praktik OAW secara signifikan antara mahasiswa yang belajar dengan metode inquiry dengan yang tidak; dan 3) ada peningkatan prestasi belajar Praktik OAW setelah mahasiswa menjalani proses pembelajaran dengan metode inquiry.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of included angle dimension on the distortion of carbon steel V-groove butt joint using a single pass welding methods. Specimens being studied were AISI 1025 low carbon steel in the form of 1/2 inch-thick plates. The steels were easily weld and were assumed as homogeneous and isotropic; therefore, three specimens for each treatment are adequate. The experiment treated the v-groove shape as independent variable and the distortion as dependent variable. The results show that there is an effect of v-groove dimensions on the distortion of the carbon steels butt joint.. The distortion and their respective angle dimensions are 0.58Ëš for the 55Ëš angle, 0.78Ëš for the 60Ëš angle, and 1.02Ëš for the 65Ëš angle. The magnitude of the distortions are well below 3Ëš, which is the permissible amount for the butt joint distortion criteria.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh dimensi included angle (bentuk kampuh) terhadap distorsi pada sambungan ujung baja karbon dengan metode pengelasan SMAW single pass. Dalam penelitian ini obyek yang diteliti adalah baja karbon rendah type AISI 1025 yang berupa plat strip dengan ketebalan 1/2 inchi. Baja jenis ini merupakan bahan yang mudah dilas dan diasumsikan homogen dan isotropic, sehingga sampel yang diambil cukup tiga buah pada masing-masing perlakuan. Bentuk included angle merupakan variabel bebas dan distorsi adalah variabel terikat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh dimensi included angle terhadap distorsi pada sambungan ujung baja karbon. Besarnya distorsi pada sambungan dengan dimensi sudut 55Ëš sebesar 0,58Ëš, 60Ëš sebesar 0,78Ëš, 65Ëš sebesar 1,02Ëš. Hal ini memberikan informasi bahwa variasi sudut included angle tersebut menghasilkan distorsi di bawah 3Ëš, sehingga masih termasuk dalam batas yang diijinkan persyaratan kelolosan sambungan las.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui upaya pengendalian risiko Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja (K3) di bengkel teknik mesin SMK PIRI Sleman ditinjau dari tanggapan civitas akademik sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah civitas akademik sekolah yang berjumlah 16 responden. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, dengan jumlah 50 butir pernyataan mengenai pengendalian resiko.  Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa usaha pengendalian resiko eliminasi dan substitusi yang diberikan kepada kepala jurusan memiliki nilai 69,44 dan 58,33; pada usaha pengendalian teknik yang diberikan kepada kepala bengkel memiliki nilai 79,16; pada usaha pengendalian administratif yang diberikan kepada guru kelas memiliki rata-rata nilai 71,87; sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa kelas XI pada usaha penggunaan APD adalah 72,62. Hasil rata-rata keseluruhan nilai yaitu 70,28. Dengan demikian, usaha pengendalian resiko yang dilakukan di bengkel teknik mesin SMK PIRI Sleman belum tercapai secara keseluruhan dalam menghilangkan potensi bahaya yang dapat terjadi.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the acceptance level and visual test of weldments in a pressure vessel in the national skills competition of vocational students in 2019. The approach of this research is quantitative-descriptive. Data were collected using checklists of quality assessment of the weld results. The tests for quality were pressure test and visual test. This research was conducted at the national skill competition in 2019 at Jogja Expo Center. The sample of this study was 32 welders. The results revealed that the acceptance level was considerably low, in which only 1 out of 32 participants passed the pressure test. Results from the visual quality were also low due to lack of understanding and knowledge in determining the requirements of pressure vessel welding, especially for the welding code and assembly drawing symbols. Participants were also unable to choose the right welding current, lacks theoretical knowledge of metals characteristics and welding processes types, and low awareness of OSH equipment.  Most participants were also lacking in practical knowledge on how to avoid welding defects in the pressure vessel weldments.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat kelolosan hasil pengelasan pressure vessel  pada lomba kompetensi siswa SMK tingkat nasional tahun 2019. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan check list penilaian kualitas hasil pengelasan siswa dengan uji tingkat kelolosan kebocoran dan uji visual. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Jogja expo center (JEC) sebagai tempat LKSN. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa, analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: tingkat kelolosan uji pressure vessel masih sangat rendah dimana dari 32 peserta yang lolos uji pressure hanya 1 orang, kualitas hasil visual pengelasan pressure vessel masih rendah hal tersebut disebabkan kurangnya pemahaman dan pengetahuan tentang menentukan persyaratan pengelasan pressure vessel khususnya dalam mengetahui kode pengelasan dan simbol gambar kerja asembly, mengetahui jenis bahan logam, mengetahui jenis proses pengelasan SMAW, GMAW, GTAW dan FCAW serta mengetahui fungsi alat keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja, serta pemahaman terhadap cara untuk menghindari cacat-cacat las pada hasil pengelasan pressure vessel.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) behavior in the Vocational School workshop. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The research population was Machining Engineering students and the sample was determined using purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique uses a closed questionnaire. Data were processed using descriptive analysis techniques and regression analysis. The results of the research show that (1) there is a significant relationship between knowledge and OHS behavior of class which is significant, OHS knowledge and attitudes together towards the OHS behavior of class X students majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Vocational School. This conclusion provides factors influencing students' OHS behavior. The implications of this research are providing OHS knowledge to improve student behavior in OHS.
