Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui unjuk kerja alat uji tarik komposit, bentuk benda uji yang akan diuji adalah komposit fragmentasi. Bahan yang digunakan sebagai bahan uji adalah komposit yang menggunakan matriks resin yukalac 157 dan sabut kelapa, sebelum membuat benda uji, metode perlakuan serat dengan asap cair terlebih dahulu dilakukan dalam 2 tahap (1) perendaman serat dengan asap cair dengan variasi 1, 2, dan 3 jam (2) kemudian serat dipanaskan dalam oven pada suhu 40 derajat selama 30 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pahat mampu menarik spesimen komposit fragmentasi telah mencapai 284 N, sedangkan perlakuan asap cair pada serat sabut kelapa berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kekuatan komposit fragmentasi, kuat tarik maksimum terjadi pada serat perlakuan P2J sebesar 39,313 MPa. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut dapat direkomendasikan sebagai alat uji fragmentasi spesimen komposit.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of SSK treatment with liquid smoke on the morphology and acoustic properties of SSK reinforced composites. The research method is an experimental method with variations in fiber treatment by soaking in liquid smoke for 1, 2 and 3 hours. Next, after soaking the fiber, it is heated in an oven at 40ºC for 30 minutes, then the resulting fiber morphology is observed using a JEOL JCM 6000 SEM tool then SSK reinforced composites are made for acoustic testing, specimen making is done by preparing resin and long fibers. 1 cm fiber, 60% resin composition and 40% SBP, after drying a composite acoustic test specimen was made. The results show that SSK treatment with liquid smoke increases the fiber morphology to become rough and porous, so that the SSK reinforced composite has a sound absorption coefficient value for the SSK TP composite of 0.1175 db, while the SSK P1J, P2J, and P3J composites have a sound absorption coefficient value of 0.1304, 0.1199, and 0.1181 db. , this shows that the SSK P1J composite is better in sound absorption by 10.92% when compared with SSK TP, so it can be recommended as an environmentally friendly acoustic material.

Abstract

This article is a literature review of several studies oriented toward the treatment of natural fiber to improve the surface morphology and tensile strength of the fiber. The method used is to review several studies that describe the physical and mechanical properties of natural fiber with different treatments such as immersion of sago fiber in liquid smoke, coconut fiber in NaOH, palm fiber in seawater, and smoking of king pineapple fiber, and banana stem fiber with liquid smoke. The results of the review showed that the treatment was able to increase the tensile strength of sago fiber by 26.77%, coconut fiber by 81.25%, palm fiber by 67.40%, waru bark fiber by 59,97%, coconut fiber with limestone water 34,96 %, king pineapple fiber by 74.45%, and banana stem fiber by 43.78%. The effect of some of these treatments can also change the morphology of the fiber. So, it was concluded that treatment was needed to change the physical properties of the fiber in the form of morphology and mechanical properties in the form of better fiber tensile strength so that the fiber used as a composite reinforcement could improve the mechanical properties of the composite.

Abstract

The study aims to identify the effect of liquid smoke treatment on the surface morphology of sago fibers and its influence on epoxy matrix bonds. The proposed study is divided into two steps: fiber treatments and property tests. In the first treatment, sago fiber is immersed in the liquid smoke solution for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours, then dried inside an oven at 43 oC for 1 hour. Next, surface morphology and fiber compatibility to the epoxy matrix is observed by Vega3 Tescan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Findings indicate the hat surface morphology of sago fiber with no treatment is relatively smooth, while those with immersion treatments became rough and grooved along with crystallization on the fiber surfaces. The crystallization index is increased throughout increasing immersion durations; leaving more grooves on fiber surfaces which are enhanced the binding quality of sago fiber to the epoxy matrix.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan kekuatan serat sabut kelapa tanpa perlakuan, perlakuan NaOH, dan perlakuan asap cair terhadap kekuatan tarik dan kekuatan impak komposit berpenguat serat sabuk kelapa. Metode yang digunakan adalah preparasi serat, tanpa perlakuan (WT), serat dengan perlakuan asap cair (TLS), dan perlakuan NaOH (TNaOH). Setelah itu dilakukan uji tarik dan uji impak komposit dengan bahan pengisi sabut kelapa untuk tiga variasi (WT), TLS, dan TNaOH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari ketiga variasi diperoleh kekuatan rata-rata serat WT sebesar 31.700 MPa, serat TNaOH sebesar 48.125 MPa, dan serat dengan TLS sebesar 33.700 MPa. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata uji impak komposit serat WT 0,204 KJ/m², TNaOH 0,236 KJ/m², dan TLS meningkat 0,432 KJ/m². Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa uji tarik komposit TNaOH memiliki kekuatan rata-rata yang lebih baik daripada WT dan TLS, sedangkan uji impak menunjukkan bahwa TLS memiliki kekuatan impak rata-rata yang lebih baik dari perlakuan TNaOH dan WT.
