Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning model that is valid and practical and suits the visual learning styles of students in biology subjects. This research is expected to improve student learning outcomes through technology that is more interactive and interesting. This research uses a development research method based on the Plomp model, which consists of four phases, namely initial investigation, design, realization, evaluation, and revision. The research subjects were grade X students at one of the schools in Mataram city.  The instruments used include expert validation questionnaires and user practicality assessments analyzed using a Likert scale of 1-4. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively. The learning model developed includes four stages, namely screening, visualization, elaboration, and reflection abbreviated as SrVER. The results showed that based on the validity test by validators, the learning model based on visual learning styles with the help of AR obtained an average percentage of 88.2% in the valid category. Based on the teacher's response, a rate of 95% was obtained with a very feasible category, and based on student responses, a percentage of 81.78% was obtained with a very feasible category. Using the SrVER model with the help of AR media in this model makes learning more interesting and helps students understand the material better.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem-based education is very relevant in supporting contextual learning, especially for students living in coastal areas. This program aims to improve students' understanding of mangrove ecosystems through direct exploration at Bale Mangrove Ecotourism, Poton Bako Village, as a natural laboratory. This research uses the Service Learning method with a focus on developing mangrove ecosystem-based teaching materials. The development process was carried out through interviews, observations, and field tests with students of SDN 4 Jerowaru. The results of the community service program conducted by the Bale Mangrove Thematic KKN team from the University of Mataram show that mangrove ecosystem-based teaching materials can increase students' understanding and awareness of the importance of mangroves. Learning conducted in a real and contextual environment allows students to better understand and apply scientific concepts in everyday life. In addition, this program succeeded in increasing students' knowledge about mangrove ecosystems.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play an important role in maintaining the balance of the coastal environment, but are still faced with challenges of waste pollution and lack of public awareness. The Biology Education Thematic KKN activity at the University of Mataram in Bale Mangrove Ecotourism aims to increase public awareness of waste management and mangrove ecosystem conservation. The methods used include practice-based education, such as training in making organic fertilizer using the Takakura method, ecobrick competitions, installation of waste nets, and the activity “Sunrise Nyampah.” The results showed an increase in community awareness and participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness and the important role of mangroves in coastal ecosystems. In conclusion, this program successfully supports the development of Bale Mangrove Ecotourism as a sustainable educational destination by combining environmental conservation and community empowerment.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play an important role in maintaining the coastal environment and are useful as ecotourism, such as in Bale Mangrove Ecotourism, East Lombok. Although integrating conservation and education through ecotourism, its implementation is still not optimal due to the limited educational facilities that support mangrove learning. This community service aims to increase the potential of Bale Mangrove Ecotourism as a sustainable education center. Activities include mangrove identification, nursery, monitoring and planting. The results of the service showed that there were six mangrove species, such as Rhizophora mucronata and Avicennia marina which became educational information packaged in the form of mangrove mading, the planting of new mangrove seedlings of Rhizophora sp. as many as 100 seedlings and the addition of 20 new types of mangrove seedlings, namely Sonneratia sp., monitoring which is carried out once a month which shows that some of the mangroves that have been planted show quite good growth marked by supporting roots that begin to grow. It is hoped that this activity will continue to be carried out and implemented to become one of the attractions of education for visitors who visit.

Abstract

Bale Mangrove ecotourism in Poton Bako Hamlet, Jerowaru Village, East Lombok, attracts domestic and international tourists, opening up opportunities for MSME players to expand their markets. However, limited English language skills among MSME actors hinder effective interaction with foreign tourists. This study aims to improve the English language skills of MSME actors through English language training that focuses on tourism communication and English-based menu creation. The program, which was implemented between July and October 2024, showed an increase in English language skills among participants, as well as success in creating English menus that facilitate interaction with foreign tourists. This program increases the competency of MSME players in serving international tourists and supports the development of Bale Mangrove Ecotourism as a sustainable destination.

Abstract

In the contemporary educational landscape, the need for effective and adaptable evaluation tools is increasingly critical. This study embarked on designing an innovative educational framework for the topic 'How We Live and Grow' using the Research and Development (R&D) method, articulated through the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The objective was to develop a multifaceted instrument that supports primary education by bridging theoretical knowledge and practical application across cognitive domains from basic knowledge (C1) to creative synthesis (C6). The methodology involved collaborative design with educators, iterative development, and rigorous expert validation. Results showed that the framework successfully produced 20 multiple-choice questions, validated with high scores ranging from 86.25% to 91.25% by material and language experts, affirming the tool's reliability and educational value. This study not only enhanced the quality of teaching through tailored, context-relevant assessments but also contributed to educational research by developing a validated instrument that effectively measures and supports diverse cognitive skills in real-world settings. The framework's potential for broad application suggests a significant impact on shaping future educational practices and assessments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the SrVER learning model assisted by Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) media in Biology Learning. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population comprised high school students in Mataram City, and samples were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a validated multiple-choice test (25 items, α = 0.82). Data analysis used Quade’s Rank Analysis of Covariance followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The findings revealed a significant difference (p < 0.001) in students’ learning outcomes between the conventional, AR-assisted SrVER, and VR-assisted SrVER classes. The AR-assisted SrVER group achieved the highest improvement (52.31%), showing that AR effectively enhances visual understanding in biological concepts. Therefore, integrating AR in visual-based learning is recommended to improve student engagement and learning outcomes in Biology Learning
