Abstract

This research focuses on the application of the habituation method in prayer coaching at SDN 2 Kalahang. The main goal is to instill the character of discipline in students as an effort to prevent negative behavior. The habituation method was chosen to protect students from negative influences and produce a school culture based on religious values. This research is qualitative in nature with research subjects including various parties at the school and data collection techniques such as observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the policy for implementing the habituation method has been agreed upon by stakeholders in the school, and its implementation is carried out through the Dhuha prayer activity which is mandatory for all students. The application of this method is considered effective because the religious values instilled through habituation can stick with students until adulthood, forming a character based on pious deeds and noble morals. Prayer is also made into school culture with punishments for students who do not participate in prayer activities. This is done to instill character in students, with a focus on values such as 'ubudiyah', al-karimah morals, discipline and togetherness.

Abstract

Learning motivation is a crucial factor in enhancing students' understanding of a subject, including Islamic Cultural History (SKI). However, at MAN 1 Tabalong, many students are less motivated to learn SKI due to conventional and less interactive teaching methods. This study aims to analyze the implementation of educational game-based learning models in increasing students' motivation in SKI subjects. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires administered to students and SKI teachers at MAN 1 Tabalong. The data analysis technique includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study results indicate that implementing educational game-based learning models, such as role-playing, interactive quizzes, and historical simulations, significantly enhances students' interest, engagement, and willingness to learn further. Students become more enthusiastic about participating in learning activities and grasp Islamic history materials more easily. Moreover, this method also improves students' social skills and critical thinking abilities. In conclusion, educational game-based learning models effectively enhance students' learning motivation in SKI subjects at MAN 1 Tabalong. Therefore, this method can serve as an alternative for educators to create more engaging and interactive learning experiences.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of grit within the context of Islamic teachings, particularly the Qur’an, and examines its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Grit, defined as perseverance and passion for long-term goals, is essential for overcoming obstacles in both academic and personal life. The purpose of this study is to investigate how Qur’anic principles such as sabr (patience), tawakkul (trust in Allah), istiqamah (steadfastness), and optimism can foster grit in students. Using a library research methodology, the study analyses key Qur’anic verses related to perseverance and connects them with the core elements of grit. The findings reveal that the Qur’an offers significant guidance on cultivating mental resilience, encouraging students to remain steadfast and hopeful in the face of challenges. Furthermore, the study highlights the practical application of these Qur’anic values in educational settings, suggesting that incorporating them into the curriculum can enhance character development and promote a growth mindset among students. In conclusion, this research demonstrates that by integrating the concept of grit from the Qur’an, Islamic education can better equip students to face both academic and life challenges with perseverance and determination, ultimately contributing to their success and well-being.

Abstract

Islamic Cultural History (ISCH) teaching in Islamic schools plays a crucial role in instilling Islamic values and introducing students to the history of Islamic civilization. However, the challenges of delivering historical material, often perceived as monotonous, encourage teachers to employ more varied and meaningful learning strategies. This study focuses on teachers' strategies in teaching ISCH at MAN 2 Tabalong. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning strategies used by teachers and their impact on student engagement and understanding. This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of ISCH teachers and classroom learning activities. Data analysis was conducted inductively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that teachers implemented various strategies such as interactive lectures, group discussions, and project-based learning. Teachers also linked the material to the local cultural context to enhance student relevance and interest. Despite constraints such as limited media and differences in student abilities, teachers demonstrated innovation through the use of simple media and task differentiation strategies. These strategies have been shown to increase student engagement and understanding of historical and Islamic values. These findings indicate that varied and contextual learning strategies are highly effective in teaching Islamic Studies (IS) at the madrasah level.
