Abstract

The halal mandatory forces business actors in Papua to carry out halal certification. So far, business actors in Papua do not know the essence of mandatory halal and its implications. This study aims to examine the mandatory halal phenomenon that applies to business actors in Papua. Imam Abu Zahrah's sharia maqasid approach serves to interpret this phenomenon. A qualitative descriptive research method with a phenomenological study approach was used in this study. Data collection by means of passive participatory observation and exploration of normative juridical literature. The results of the study show that mandatory halal is able to have a positive impact on economic growth and development in Papua. With mandatory halal, business actors in Papua can increase the existence of their products, especially for local products in terms of market expansion. From the perspective of Imam Abu Zahrah's maqashid sharia, the mandatory granting of halal certification fulfills maslahah on three elements. First, tahdzib al fard in the form of providing education to business people in Papua about the importance of halal products for consumers. Second, Iqamah Al'Adalah (upholding justice) in the form of the generalization that all products produced by Muslim or non-Muslim business actors have the right to obtain halal certification. Third, Jalb Al Maslahah (public interest) in the form of rights for consumers throughout Indonesia that the products consumed from Papua are clearly halal for the benefit.

Abstract

Waqf is one of the financial instruments that can improve the socioeconomic status of Ummah. However, the number of waqf assets exceeds expectations due to a lack of proper management. The socioeconomic well-being of the Ummah is among the core principles of waqf management in the form of accountability and transparency. This study aims to unveil the implementation of the Socioeconomic well-being of Waqf Board Management, taking the case of the Muhammadiyah Waqf Council in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This research employs descriptive analysis through structured interviews, passive participation observation, and documentation. The study found that the principles of socio-economics well-being have been implemented by the Waqf Board Management of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in the form of accountability, including compliance and Integrity, Administration, Programs, Practice, and Finance. The principle of transparency includes the level of openness in the delivery of public services, ease of understanding of the rules and procedures for providing services, and the availability of information on various fields of public administration. This paper implies the massive policy direction of Waqf Board Management among the Muhammadiyah Organization in Indonesia, which is the second largest Muslim organization in the country, to ameliorate the way of implementing the socio-economics of waqf management.

Abstract

Food is one of many global challenges that require significant attention. Indonesia, with the majority Muslim population and the largest number of pesantren in the world, has become the second biggest food contributor in the world. It is inconsistent with the principles of Islam. This research is concerned with the implementation of an integrative approach to food management in pesantren through the integration of agriculture and entrepreneurship education. Pesantren, as a self-sustaining community, provides an ideal medium to explore sustainable practices. This research is a qualitative case using the triangulation method with both observation and documentation techniques. This research involves the implementation of a structured education program within the Pesantren that combines agricultural practices and entrepreneurial skills. The results highlighted that by integrating agriculture and entrepreneurship education, pesantren communities significantly contributed to reducing the number of food. The results of this research demonstrate the effectiveness of integrating agriculture and entrepreneurship education in reduction, honing skills, and fostering a sense of responsibility and sustainable practices among residents. The findings emphasize the importance of integrating education and entrepreneurship for holistic food management in Pesantren. The discussion delved into the social, economic, and environmental implications, highlighting the potential for scalability and adaptation in other similar settings. This integrative approach does more than solve the food problem; instead, it also contributes to developing people skills and sustaining the community in Pesantren.

Abstract

Environmental ethics from deep ecology theory by Arne Naess is seen as giving a lot of attention to environmental issues and the sustainability of life. This theory is used as an alternative to view the world to improve the relationship between humans and their environment, namely the cultivation of environmental ethics. The environmental ethical principles offered by Naess are considered to be the basis for finding appropriate solutions to various environmental problems. It is very interesting to draw coherence between the deep ecology environmental ethical theory from an Islamic perspective, considering that in a complex manner, the principles of environmental conservation are contained in Islamic teachings. The purpose of this study is to explore the principles of environmental ethics in Arne Naess' deep ecology theory and to draw their coherence from an Islamic perspective. The philosophical hermeneutical method is used as an approach to interpreting the theory in an Islamic view. The results of the study show that Arne Naess' deep ecology principles can be mapped into three parts, namely: ecosophy, ecopolitics, and lifestyle. Arne Naess' deep ecology approach consists of ecocentrism and biocentrism theory approaches that emphasize the human view of respecting nature as a whole. However, from an Islamic perspective, not all humans have to be addressed to nature, as is the case with Arne Naess' deep ecology theory
