Abstract

This study aims to determine Arabic and Indonesian grammar in the form of imperative sentences by describing the similarities and differences between them. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a comparative research methodology which consists of three research steps, namely describing imperative sentences in Arabic and Indonesian grammar, collecting sides of similarities and differences in imperative sentences in Arabic and Indonesian grammar, and predicting students' difficulties in learning Arabic because of the grammatical differences that exist between them. The results of the study show that the two languages have similarities in: 1) commands and times, where the imperative sentences in both languages are addressed to the interlocutor and for the present or future time; 2) there is no change in the form of imperative sentences in Arabic grammar, especially in ism fi'il amr and maṣdar na'ib ‘an fi'il amr, which also occurs in Indonesian grammar; 3) the order of command sentences in both languages consists of fi'il (verb) and fa'il (subject). The grammatical differences between the two languages lie in the breadth of Arabic in the variety of uslub, suitability in type (male or female), number, and personal (speaker, interlocutor and spoken to) where this is a difficulty for Indonesian students in learning Arabic.

Abstract

This research aims to study demonstrative pronouns in Arabic and Indonesian, and to highlight the similarities and differences between them, in order to reveal the reasons for the difficulties faced by Indonesian learners in acquiring this aspect of the Arabic language. The research adopted a descriptive comparative approach through three steps: linguistic description, comparison between the two languages, and prediction of possible difficulties. The results showed that the two languages are similar in the concept of reference and the distinction between near and far, but differ in number, gender, distance, and order. Arabic distinguishes between singular, dual, and plural, and masculine and feminine, while Indonesian does not. Furthermore, the demonstrative pronoun precedes the noun it refers to in Arabic, but follows it in Indonesian, which is one of the most significant learning difficulties for Indonesian students learning Arabic

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of mafʿūl bih (direct object) in Arabic and Indonesian, focusing on similarities and differences between the two languages and describing their respective usage methods. It also seeks to contribute to addressing the difficulties and errors faced by Indonesian-speaking learners of Arabic, especially in understanding and applying the concept of mafʿūl bih. The study is limited to comparing formal Arabic (fuṣḥā) and standard Indonesian in terms of the mafʿūl bih, using a descriptive-analytical-comparative method. The analysis involves three main steps: first, a linguistic description of mafʿūl bih in both languages; second, identification of similarities and differences; and third, prediction of potential learning difficulties arising from those differences. Key findings include: both languages share common features, such as mafʿūl bih being an additional element in the sentence and its ability to occur more than once and typically at the end. However, differences include Arabic allowing up to three direct objects for some verbs, while Indonesian generally limits this to two. Furthermore, mafʿūl bih in Arabic is identified by grammatical case markings (ʿirāb), whereas in Indonesian, it is identified by sentence position. Arabic also allows three structural variations of mafʿūl bih, while Indonesian generally maintains a fixed structure. These differences represent major obstacles for Indonesian-speaking learners of Arabic.

Abstract

This study discusses the validity of the guardian of ijbār in the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence, with a particular focus on the opinion of Imam Shafi'i. A guardian of ijbār is one who has the authority to marry off a woman under his guardianship without her explicit consent, especially if she is a virgin. The objective of this study is to examine the legal foundations and legitimacy of ijbār, as well as the conditions under which it is applicable according to the Shafi'i school of thought. This research is qualitative in nature and employs a library research method, using a normative juridical and philosophical approach. The findings reveal that the concept of ijbār is strongly rooted in the Qur'an and Hadith, and is supported by classical Islamic scholars, particularly Imam Shafi'i through works such as al-Umm. In his view, the right of ijbār is limited only to the father and paternal grandfather, and must meet certain conditions, including the absence of hostility, compatibility of the prospective husband, and a reasonable dowry. This right aims to protect women from poor marriage decisions that may endanger their well-being. However, it must be implemented with consideration of mutual consultation to prevent injustice.
