Abstract

This study explores the use of traditional medicinal plants by the community of Kurulu Village, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua. It aims to identify plant species, utilized plant parts, their phytochemical contents based on literature, and related medicinal uses. A descriptive-analytical method was applied through interviews, direct observation, and literature review. This study identified 38 medicinal plant species from 28 families utilized by the community in Kurulu Village, Papua. Various plant parts are used, with leaves being the most commonly utilized. These plants contain a range of phytochemical compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and others that are effective in treating various diseases, from diarrhea to cancer. The methods of preparation include boiling, burning, pounding, steeping, squeezing, and in some cases, the plants are used directly without processing. These findings highlight the rich ethnobotanical knowledge preserved by the Kurulu community and underscore the potential of traditional medicinal plants for further pharmacological research and development.

Abstract

Abstract

Life uncertainty, particularly mortality risk, creates the need for financial protection through life insurance. Endowment life insurance is a product that provides both death benefits and survival benefits at the end of the coverage period; therefore, insurance companies must establish adequate premium reserves. This study aims to calculate premium reserves for endowment life insurance using the Canadian method and to compare the effects of different mortality models based on the 2019 Indonesian Mortality Table (TMI) and Gompertz’s law. The results show that premium reserves calculated using Gompertz’s law are higher than those calculated using the 2019 Indonesian Mortality Table (TMI). This difference indicates that the choice of mortality model affects the magnitude of the resulting premium reserves.

Abstract

In this paper, we observe the special orthogonal matrix Lie group containing of all 2x2 real matrices, denoted by SO(2), which can be geometrically visualized as the one-dimensional torus S1 which is nothing but the unit circle. A Brownian motion on SO(2) can be constructed and represented by a stochastic differential equation defined over a dynamic state space. The research aims to derive a short-term interest rate model on SO(2) through Brownian motion analysis which is a geometric approach. We employ a qualitative methodology, including a literature review of Brownian motion, stochastic differential equations, and dynamical state-space techniques on SO(2). Firstly, we prove the isomorphism SO(2) is isomorphic to S1, secondly, we determine Brownian motion on SO(2) and its equivalent, and thirdly, we formulate the corresponding stochastic differential equation, and the last, determine the short-term interest rate equation on SO(2). In this study, it is confirmed Lim and Privault’s work that the interest rate equation on SO(2) is given by rt = beta + 2 gamma cos(Wt) with beta, gamma is constant and Wt is standard Brownian motion. To clarify the obtained results, this study also gave a quantitative approach that is Python simulation of interest rate calculation using the matrix Lie group interest rate and other equations. The interest rate equation uses the matrix Lie group SO(n) with n greater than or equal to three still open to further research that can be applied to long-term interest rates.

Abstract

BI Rate is a policy interest rate that reflects the direction of Bank Indonesia’s monetary policy and has a significant impact on financial sector stability and overall economic conditions. The fluctuating movement of BI Rate necessitates the use of forecasting methods capable of accurately capturing data patterns. This study aims to forecast BI Rate using the Fuzzy Time Series method with percentage change as the universe of discourse. BI Rate data from January 2009 to September 2025 are used as historical data in the forecasting process. The research stages include transforming the data into percentage change form, constructing the universe of discourse, determining main intervals and sub-intervals, performing fuzzification, establishing fuzzy logic relationships, and conducting defuzzification to obtain forecasting results. The forecasting process forms 9 main intervals and 13 sub-intervals. The forecasting accuracy is evaluated using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), resulting in a value of 1.56%, indicating that the Fuzzy Time Series method with the percentage change approach performs well in forecasting BI Rate and is suitable as an alternative method for policy interest rate forecasting.
