Abstract

Air memiliki peran penting dalam memenuhi kebutuhan manusia sebagai sumber air minum. Salah satu penyebab pencemaran air adalah logam berat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kandungan timbal (Pb) pada air sumur di sekitar TPA Kalipancur Kabupaten Purbalingga. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara observasional deskriptif pada bulan Agustus 2020 di Laboratorium Kimia Analisis dan Biologi Farmasi Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Sebanyak 10 sampel air sumur diambil dengan radius 100-500 m dari TPA Kalipancur. Kadar timbal (Pb) diukur menggunakan metode Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) dan dianalisis secara deskriptif numerik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kandungan timbal (Pb) pada seluruh sampel air sumur di sekitar TPA Kalipancur Kabupaten Purbalingga sebesar <0,01 mg/L.

Abstract

Beras merupakan komponen penting dalam makanan sehari-hari untuk menunjang kebutuhan pokok. Masalah manipulasi mutu beras sudah sering  dilakukan oleh pedagang atau penggilingan beras. Penggunaan bahan pemutih pada dasarnya dilarang dalam bahan pangan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi dan menentukan kadar klorin yang ada pada beras  yang dijual di Pasar Sokaraja Kabupaten Banyumas. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara observasional deskriptif. Data senyawa klorin dianalisis dengan uji univariat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2020. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 24 sampel beras. Hasil analisis kualitatif menunjukkan sampel positif adanya reaksi presipitasi berupa endapan putih dan analisis kuantitatif secara Argentometri Mohr dengan titik akhir titrasi merah kecoklatan. Hasil analisis kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa 5 sampel (20,8%) beras positif mengandung klorin. Kadar klorin terendah yaitu 71,04 mg/L dan kadar klorin tertinggi sebesar 189,44 mg/L

Abstract

Anemia is when the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells. This condition occurs due to reduced hemoglobin (an iron-rich protein) which affects the production of red cells. Anemia is a health problem throughout the world and currently, the prevalence of anemia in adolescents is still high. The impact of anemia on teenagers is a decrease in: productivity, fitness, concentration, and decreased immunity as well as disrupting growth. Lack of information delivery, parental, community, and government concern for adolescent health as well as inadequate adolescent health services are also the reasons why this problem cannot be resolved. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbalingga regarding anemia and to screen for anemia by checking hemoglobin levels for early detection of anemia. The method used is interactive lectures and questions and answers, to check hemoglobin levels using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between before and after providing anemia screening education to students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbalingga (p<0.05) with an average of 45 before the education was provided to 80 after the education. The conclusion is that health education regarding anemia screening has increased the knowledge of young women at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbalingga.

Abstract

The bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, a normal component of human flora, is easily mutated and antibiotic-resistant, leading to the creation of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This bacterium is a difficult-to-control nosocomial infection in healthcare settings, so it must be stored using specialized preservation agents, like DMSO, to investigate the nature and characteristics of these bacteria for prevention, control, and therapy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the survival of MRSA bacteria that had been kept in a DMSO solution at various temperatures and periods. This study was carried out between July and October2022 using a one-shot study case research design, data analysis, and quantitative descriptive analysis. According to the findings, MRSA bacteria held in 15% DMSO solution lost viability over time and at various storage temperatures. Among various bacterial species held at various storage temperatures, MRSA bacteria had the lowest colony loss rate (-20 °C). Based on the findings of this study, it can be said that the preservation of MRSA bacteria at freezing temperature (-20 °C) and storage length of one month resulted in the greatest survivability of the bacteria when stored in 15% DMSO solution.

Abstract

Abstrak   Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) merupakan bakteri S.aureus yang resisten terhadap antibiotik β-laktam dan berperan penting dalam infeksi nosokomial di rumah sakit. Gen mecA berfungsi sebagai penanda molekuler untuk strain MRSA yang dapat dideteksi menggunakan metode Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), di mana efisiensi amplifikasi dipengaruhi oleh konsentrasi primer dan suhu annealing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh konsentrasi primer dan suhu annealing yang optimal dalam mendeteksi gen mecA pada bakteri MRSA udara di ruangan rumah sakit. Metode pada penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimental. Suhu annealing divariasikan menjadi 53°C, 55°C, 57°C, dan 59°C, serta konsentrasi primer divariasikan menjadi 5 µM dan 10 µM. Analisis pita DNA dilakukan secara visual menggunakan UV transluminator dan luas area pita DNA menggunakan aplikasi imageJ. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa suhu annealing 53°C menghasilkan amplifikasi gen mecA yang lebih optimal dibandingkan suhu annealing 55°C, 57°C, dan 59°C. Selain itu, penggunaan konsentrasi primer 10 µM memberikan hasil amplifikasi yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi primer 5 µM. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah suhu annealing 53°C dan konsentrasi primer 10 µM merupakan kombinasi yang optimal dalam mendeteksi gen mecA pada bakteri MRSA, baik secara visual maupun kuantitatif.

Abstract

Hypertension and diabetes mellitus are non-communicable diseases with a steadily increasing prevalence, including among adolescents. Lack of knowledge and unhealthy lifestyles are the main risk factors. Based on this, this community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbalingga regarding both diseases and to conduct health screening as an early detection effort. The method included health education using PowerPoint media, preceded by a pre-test and followed by a post-test to assess knowledge improvement. In addition, random blood glucose tests and blood pressure measurements were carried out as part of the health screening. The results showed a significant increase in students' knowledge after the educational session (p < 0.05), and several students were found to have abnormal blood glucose and blood pressure levels. This activity demonstrated that health education and screening are effective in raising students' awareness of the importance of preventing non-communicable diseases. These findings highlight the need for continuous education and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle from an early age to prevent future complications.
