Abstract

With the high total population of cattle each year, it will also cause a high amount of cow dung generation. Jogorogo village is an area that has a lot of cattle breeders. It is necessary to make compost from cow dung to reduce the generation of cow dung. In addition to meeting the nutritional needs of plants, making compost will reduce the generation of waste and livestock manure that accumulates to pollute the environment. Because the pH of cow dung is too acidic, additional materials are needed, namely sawdust and rice straw. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of nitrogen and phosphorus levels in compost from cow dung. The study design used in this research is One shot case study. During the composting process, physical parameters (texture, color, odor, temperature) were measured and also chemical parameters were examined for the nutrient content of the compost (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, organic C and C/N ratio). Analyzed using the Kruskall-Wallis test and then continued with the Mann-Whitney. There are differences in the effectiveness of N levels, P levels and C/N ratio levels between formula 1 and formula 2. The two formulas tested were four levels that almost met all of the requirements, namely in formula 2. Furthermore, from the two groups of formulas, formula 2 required an average time 29 days on average so it is more effective than formula 1 which takes 30 days.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health (OHS) is one of the company's maintenance programs. The implementation of OHS programs for employees is very important to create an OHS system that includes elements of management, employment and working conditions and an integrated work environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between workers' knowledge and attitudes towards the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with the incidence of work accidents in PT INKA (Persero) Madiun production workers. This study used a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all production workers of assembly PT INKA (Persero) Madiun. The sample was taken using simple random sampling technique, with a sample size of 68 respondents. Data collection was done through questionnaires. Data analysis using the Chi-square test. Analysis result show that there is a relationship between the independent variables, namely knowledge (p-value = 0,003) and attitude (p-value = 0,001) and the dependent variable of work accidents. The conclusion in this study is that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards the use of PPE with the incidence of work accidents. Suggestions are expected that workers have high awareness and discipline in the behavior of using PPE so as to reduce the occurrence of work accidents.

Abstract

The construction industry is a dynamic field with potential hazards that can affect project quality and performance. Proper implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) management is essential in construction projects. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is an important aspect of OHS, but compliance among construction workers is still lacking. This study aims to determine the relationship between attitude and compliance with the use of PPE on the Hermina Hospital construction project in Madiun City. This study was a cross-sectional study, and data were collected using a questionnaire. This study involved 93 construction workers. The results showed that 62% of construction workers in Ethiopia did not use PPE while working, mainly due to lack of availability (41.1%), lack of orientation on the use of PPE (21.3%), discomfort (16.3%), and lack of perceived importance (1.3%). In Indonesia, approximately 60% of workers have experienced head injuries due to not wearing a safety helmet, 90% have experienced facial injuries due to not wearing a face shield, 77% have experienced foot injuries due to not wearing safety shoes, and 66% have experienced eye injuries due to not using eye protection. The low compliance with PPE use among construction workers is a significant concern, as this increases the risk of occupational injuries and accidents. Factors such as availability, training, comfort, and perceived importance of PPE should be addressed to improve compliance. Employers and policy makers need to prioritize the implementation of effective OHS management in construction projects to protect workers' health and safety.
