Abstract

One of the sea potentials in Aceh is seaweed. Seaweed contains secondary metabolites and antioxidants that are very well consumed because it can act as an antidote/protector from the free radicals. This study aimed to determine the secondary metabolite content and antioxidant activity of seaweed in Aceh.The seaweed that has been macerated then screened for phytochemicals and tested for antioxidant activity by using the DPPH method. The seaweed species found were Gracillaria verrucosa, Sargassum sp., and Chaetomorpha antennina. The results of this study indicated that Gracillaria verrucosa, Sargassum sp., and Chaetomorpha antennina seaweeds were contained by alkaloids and steroids. Flavonoid and saponins were only detected in the types of seaweed Gracillaria verrucosa and Sargassum sp. It was also found that the higher the concentration of the extract, the higher the percentage of IC50 against free radicals. The Sargassum sp. has a stable percentage of inhibition at a 2-10 ppm concentration, so it is recommended in this study to be considered cultivated in Aceh.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang perbandingan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Guided Inquiry terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa pada materi laju reaksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui model pembelajaran yang paling sesuai untuk materi laju reaksi terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada dua kelas dengan jumlah sampel 23 orang pada masing-masing kelas dengan pretest-posttestnonequivalent design. Data dinalisis secara deskriptif-kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan data berdistribusi normal pada kedua kelas. Berdasarkan uji t sampel berpasangan pretest-posttest pada kedua kelas menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada awal dan akhir pembelajaran. Hasil posttest kedua kelas juga memiliki varian yang homogen. Hasil uji t sampel tidak berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan rata-rata hasil belajar mahasiwa antara model pembelajaran model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Guided Inquiry. Nilai posttest rata-rata kelas eksperimen I dan II berturut-turut adalah 78,70 dan 70,39, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model Problem Based Learning lebih baik untuk kemampuan berpikir kritis pada materi laju reaksi dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaranGuided Inquiry.Kata Kunci: Guided Inquiry, Problem Based Learning, model pembelajaran, kemampuan berpikir

Abstract

Online learning requires students to be more independent in learning. For example, chemistry learning tends to contain abstract concepts (very theoretical), so it requires a more detailed description and explanation. To help solve this problem, we need a media that can make it easier for students to learn during online learning. The purpose of this study was to determine student perceptions or responses to learning using teaching videos. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, which will produce a description of quantitative data related to student perceptions of the results of the Cronbach Alfa test. The instruments in this study were questionnaires, and learning outcomes test questions. The sample consisted of 102 students. Before being used, video-based learning media with the help of a pen tablet were validated by media and material experts, both in terms of construction and concepts contained in the learning media. The validation results obtained an average value of 0.91 which means it is very valid. Further analysis using reliability showed the Cronbach Alfa coefficients were 0.88, respectively; 0.92; 0.93 consecutively for aspects of knowledge, media and convenience. In order to be accepted by the media as learning media, it is necessary to look at student responses to aspects of knowledge (P) where the average value is 3.96 which is classified as good, media (M) 4.02 and convenience (K) 3.81 are also included in good category.

Abstract

Molasses fermentation from molasses has been studied as an alternative to renewable energy. The goal of this research was to determine molasses fermentation as an alternative to renewable energy. The goal of this research was to monitor the alcohol concentration and pH levels during the fermentation process. This study employed a completely randomized design (CRD) method with two components. Factor A is the amount of time required for aeration. Molasses dilution is factor B. Factor A was tested across four different time periods: 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours. Factor B was tested using three different ratios: 1: 1.5, 1: 2, and 1: 2.5. The calculations of alcohol content FcalcP = 74.35> Ftable (11; 36; 0.05) = 2.07 and Ftable (11; 36; 0.01) = 2.79 revealed that components A and B had a significant impact on the final alcohol content. The BNJ 1% was calculated to be 0.63. This demonstrates that A4B3 is the most effective treatment. FcalcP = 2.85> Ftable (11; 36; 0.05) = 2.07 and Ftable (11; 36; 0.01) = 2.79, indicating that factors A and B have a highly substantial effect on acidity (pH). The BNJ 5% was obtained at a value of 0.61. This also demonstrates the optimal acidity conditions in A4B3 therapy. Based on these findings, it is clear that aeration for 96 hours and dilution with a 1: 2.5 ratio produce the greatest outcomes and the maximum alcohol content. At a pH of 4.45, the average bioethanol content is 6.31%.

Abstract

Pengembangan virtual laboratorium pada konsentrasi larutan di prodi pendidikan kimia UIN Ar-Raniry dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pemanfaatan media interatif dalam pelaksanaan praktikum, apabila praktikum tidak bisa dilakukan secara langsung dilaboratorium. Seperti pada saat tejadinya pandemi, yang sangat menghambat dalam pelaksanaan praktikum secara langsung. Praktikum konsentrasi larutan merupakan salah satu mata kuliah yang memerlukan media pendukung dalam praktikum ketika praktikum tidak bisa dilaksanakan secara langsung di laboratorium. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pengembangan virtual laboratorium pada praktikum konsentrasi larutan di prodi pendidikan kimia UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Kimia sebanyak 24 orang mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan dengan menggunakan model ADDIE. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, validasi dan lembar angket respon mahasiswa. Analisis data hasil validasi media dan angket respon mahasiswa menggunakan rumus persamaan persentase. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli aspek penilaian media, materi dan bahasa terhadap media virtual laboratorium diperoleh rata-rata persentase sebanyak 96,21% termasuk kriteria “sangat valid”. Hasil respon mahasiswa diperoleh persentase sebanyak 90% dengan kriteria “sangat baik”. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan virtual laboratorium yang dikembangkan memperoleh kualitas yang sangat baik sehingga layak untuk digunakan sebagai salah satu penunjang dalam pembelajaran

Abstract

Identifying misconceptions in chemistry learning is important to improve the quality of learning. The use of appropriate learning approaches is needed to correct students' misconceptions. This research aims to identify and remediate students' misconceptions about chemical equilibrium material by using a conceptual change approach. The method used was a quantitative-pre-experimental method with a one-group-pretest-posttest-design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with number of samples was 63 student of eleventh grade. The instrument used was a four-tier diagnostic test based on CRI. Data was obtained by giving the tests to students twice, before and after the remediation of misconceptions using a conceptual change approach. Based on the results of identifying the initial level of students understanding, it was found that the category of understanding the concept about 41%, misconceptions about 41%, and did not understand the concept about 18%. Misconceptions with high criteria were identified in the equilibrium constant sub-material of about 65%. The remediation of misconceptions was carried out by using a conceptual change approach to chemical equilibrium material. The changes in students' understanding level are based on the average N-gain value, namely students' concept understanding of 0.77 in the high category, misconceptions of -0.79 in the decreasing category and not understanding the concept of -0.72 in the decreasing category. The reduction of high criteria misconceptions in the equilibrium constant sub-material with an N-gain value of -0.78 in the decreasing category. It was concluded that remediation using the conceptual change approach could reduce students' misconceptions.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk pelatihan standardisasi pengelolaan laboratorium bagi laboran/pengelola laboratorium IPA di Kota Banda Aceh. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keahlian para laboran/pengelola laboratorium IPA (Fisika, Biologi, dan Kimia) jenjang SMA/SMK di Kota Banda Aceh. Materi pelatihan terdiri dari etika profesi laboran, alat dan bahan laboratorium, penataan alat dan bahan, teknik kerja di laboratorium, karakteristik laboratorium, serta pengelolaan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja di laboratorium. Metode kegiatan pelatihan terdiri dari ceramah, presentasi kelompok, diskusi, tanya jawab, serta pretest dan posttest untuk evaluasi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama empat hari, dari 31 Mei hingga 3 Juni 2022 bertempat di Cabang Dinas Pendidikan Wilayah Kota Banda Aceh dan Kabupaten Aceh Besar, Jalan Geuchik H. Abd Jalil Nomor 1 Lamlagang Banda Aceh. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa para peserta yang berjumlah 60 orang ini sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Para peserta berpartisipasi secara aktif dalam memanfaatkan diskusi selama proses kegiatan dan pada saat penutup tiap sesi kegiatan. Instrumen penilaian yang digunakan adalah empat puluh soal pilihan ganda yang diberikan dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Hasil kegiatan pelatihan ini dianggap berhasil berdasarkan hasil evaluasi para peserta dari nilai rata-rata pretest yang diperoleh 48 meningkat saat posttest menjadi 91. Melalui kegiatan pelatihan dan peningkatan capaian nilai evaluasi diharapkan para laboran/pengelola laboratorium IPA jenjang SMA/SMK di Kota Banda Aceh lebih kompeten dalam mengelola laboratorium sesuai standar yang telah ditetapkan secara nasional.

Abstract

Abstrak: Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Kimia, Fisika, dan Biologi di Madrasah Aliyah Kota Banda Aceh, melalui ketua MGMP menyampaikan bahwa hampir seluruh guru dalam MGMP belum pernah mengembangkan e-modul praktikum. Temuan tersebut menguatkan bahwa guru belum siap dalam implementasi kurikulum merdeka, khususnya dalam memadukan teknologi digital dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk (1) meningkatkan kecakapan digital guru mengembangkan e-modul praktikum IPA; dan (2) memanfaatkan aplikasi Canva untuk pengembangan e-modul praktikum IPA yang dapat digunakan dalam implementasi kurikulum merdeka pada fase E dan F di madrasah. Metode pengabdian ini adalah Community Based Research (CBR), dimana model ini merupakan metode terkini yang melibatkan 30 guru dalam MGMP sebagai mitra. Hasil yang diperoleh yaituHasil post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman guru dalam membuat e-modul praktikum IPA menggunakan Canva , sesuai dengan N-gain rata-rata dari pelaksanaan pelatihan ini yaitu 0,72 dengan kriteria tinggi. Efektivitas N-gain sebesar 72% dengan kriteria pelaksanaan pelatihan ini cukup efektif.Abstract: The chief of MGMP of Chem-Phy-Bio at Madrasah Aliyah in Banda Aceh informed that almost all teachers under their MGMP have never developed an e-module of practicum. The findings confirmed that teachers are not ready to implement an merdeka curriculum. The aim of this community service is to (1) improve the digital competence of teachers in developing the e-module; (2) utilize the Canva application for developing the e-module; and (3) generate the e-module of science practicum that can be used in the implementation of the independent curriculum at phases E and F in Madrasah. This community service method is Community Based Research (CBR), where this model is a state-of-the-art method involving 30 teachers in MGMP as partners. The result ofBased on pottest result, this action shows an improvement in the teacher's understanding of making the e-module by using Canva, according to the average N-gain value of 0.72 with high criteria.

Abstract

The development of virtual laboratory(VL) has been widely used in secondary school teaching, notably science education. However, the development of VLspecifically for university-level education remains quite limited. In addition, in some practical disciplines, such as membrane-based separation chemistry, both lecturers and students face restrictions in equipment and resources. As a result, the goal of this study is to develop a VL for membrane synthesis practicum utilizing the phase inversion approach that can also be utilized in separation chemical practicum. In addition, the researchers assessed the amount of legitimacy and user response to VL media, specifically among students. This work follows research and development based on ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) framework. The first phase is begun with an analysis (via interviews) to investigate the lecturers issues and needs. Consequently, the analysis confirmed that the development of VL in separation chemistry is very essential. The researchers used feedback from the lecturer during the design stage, namely while gathering the material and presentation of VL to create the storyboard. Then, three experts confirmed the draft created during the development stage, declaring it highly validwith a proportion more than 85%. Face validity and construct validity took major revision to achieve 100% of highly valid. Following the revision steps of draft I (initial version) based on the validation results, draft II (revised version) was created for restricted testing with users (students), and the results revealed a very good response, with more than 90% of students providing feedback ranging from agree to highly agree. Their responses represent the impact received from VL, particularly in digital literacy, building critical and creative thinking, and learning flexibility. Some suggestions for enhancement, particularly the usage of foreign languages in VL, will be considered in the final stage. Thus, the VL can be recommended for use in membrane synthesis experiments in the separation chemistry course.
