Abstract

Previously, streptozotocin and alloxan were employed to imitate hyperglycemia in mice. High doses of sucrose were also induced as an alternative. Due to body mass index has been associated with hyperglycemia, the evidence of weight body index in various induction alternate kinds, however, have not been fully reported. Here-in, we report on the weight performance stability of mice body weight induced by dextrose, streptozotocin, and alloxan. To begin, all mice were divided into six groups of five, with one reserve in each. Following seven days of acclimatization, the mice were induced for nine days of hyperglycemia modeling; alloxan (Groups A and D), streptozotocin (Group B and E), dextrose monohydrate (Groups C and F). On preclinical research animals modelling related to obesity-associated hyperglycemia in mice, dextrose monohydrate induction was most successful than streptozocotin and alloxan induction, which performed best during the induction period (31% weight growth) and after metformin intervention (36% weight growth). Overall, dextrose monohydrate is most suitable to be used for modeling type 2 diabetes mellitus test animals rather than alloxan and streptozocotin.

Abstract

Abstract

Animal models suitable for preclinical research are necessary for the discovery of hypolipidemic agents. Various publications have presented alternative dyslipidemia animal models, but identifying a feasible and stable method would serve as a solid reference for researchers. This investigation aimed to establish a sustained dyslipidemia induction that persists after several days of intervention with a hypolipidemic agent. Six groups of mice, each consisting of five primary test animals and one reserve test animal, were used. After a seven-day acclimatization period, we induced each group for 14 days using three different methods: (1) 5% body weight of quail egg yolks (5% QEY), (2) 10% body weight of used cooking oil (10% UCOs), and (3) a combination of 5% QEY and 10% UCOs. Once all mice reached their peak lipid levels, we evaluated lipid performance through a seven-day intervention with simvastatin (0.026 mg/20-gram body weight) in one of the paired groups. A 14-day combined induction of 5% QEY and 10% UCOs resulted in a 39% elevation in mouse lipids compared to baseline levels. Our findings offer an alternative to traditional dyslipidemia models. However, the development of an animal model for dyslipidemia still poses challenges. Therefore, the identification of novel biomarkers capable of targeting dyslipidemia in humans is crucial.

Abstract

The spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) peaked on July 15, 2021 due to an uncontrollable spike since the previous month. The government responded by implementing Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (ECAR). However, pharmacies can still operate normally at that time. This article presents the efforts of pharmacists in limiting interactions with pharmacy consumers during ECAR. This study involved two pharmacies in the Temanggung Regency, Central Java. Observation activities took place from June to July 2021. Researchers collected 100 samples of interactions that took place between pharmacists and patients, by recording all conversations that occurred. Researchers classify the nodes of conversation (utterances) in two communication functions; therapeutic and social functions. The research data are presented in descriptive form. In emergency ECAR situations, pharmacy staff have tried to limit interaction with pharmacy consumers, by shortening the face-to-face duration. Within the limited duration of interaction, pharmacists are more dominant in conveying information exchange, and prioritizing information on the therapeutic aspect. The results of this study confirm to all parties that efforts to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus also include effectiveness in health services. Although there are restrictions on interactions in pharmaceutical services, health service providers still prioritize the fulfillment of the quality of information exchange to patients.

Abstract

This article presents a quality of life profile for HIV patients who have undergone controlled antiretroviral therapy. Specifically, researchers reviewed the unique needs of research subjects for psychological and environmental support. The research took place at the Regional General Hospital KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo, involving 68 research subjects. All study subjects were HIV patients undergoing controlled antiretroviral therapy (outpatient) with a duration of more than six months and were aged more than 15 years. Investigation of the quality of life profile used the Indonesian version of the WHOQOL-HIV Bref questionnaire. The results showed that HIV patients who underwent controlled therapy had a higher quality of life score than general HIV patients. Antiretroviral treatment has helped them have physical qualities, independence, spiritual side, and social abilities in living life. Even so, they need psychological intervention and environmental support to have consistent quality of themselves. Health workers involved in managing HIV patients need to provide professional interventions to improve their ability to concentrate and ensure that they are always comfortable with their physical condition. Further, there is a need for cooperation by relationships (family, friends, community) and health workers to ensure that HIV patients do not experience financial difficulties, enjoy time in a relaxed manner, and feel safe as part of the environment society in general.

Abstract

The results of this literature review present a profile of measuring adherence to therapy in prolanis member. More specifically, the authors explored the adherence related to the sociodemographic variants. The literature search utilizes the Google Scholar data storage base. Researchers used two variants of keywords; (1) “prolanis” and “drug”, (2) “prolanis” and “pharmaceutical”. The literature search is limited to the results of publications during the years 2010-2020. Literature review studies only involve research results that meet the following inclusion criteria; (1) scientific articles published after going through the peer review process, (2) research involving sociodemographic variables and therapy adherence index, (3) research involving only prolanis participants, and (4) research results showing correlation values between variables. A total of 9 articles met the inclusion criteria according to the research objectives. This literature review involved 644 respondents from 12 health centers and 1 treatment center as subjects in this study. The results of our literature review confirm that prolanis participants need family support and adequate knowledge, in order to adhere to therapy. In addition, we also conclude that there is no relationship between gender differences and adherence to therapy. Based on these conclusions, we recommend community pharmacy practitioners, to optimize educational services and provide basic information about drugs, both to prolanis participants and their families. We note that researchers have not mutually agreed on the relationship between therapy adherence with age, education, type of work and home pharmacy care services in prolanis. The exploration of sociodemographic variables, which is still a matter of debate, is a priority for further research to identify adherence to prolanis therapy. We also suggest to future researchers to avoid the use of MMAS-8. The use of questionnaires without permission from the inventor is prone to licensing problems.

Abstract

This article presents data on drug-induced liver injury events' risk profile due to NAT2 and CYP2E1 polymorphisms in isoniazid metabolism in Indonesian populations among various populations of several countries. The research took place through a review of the literature obtained from google scholar. The library search uses three variants of the keyword: (1) "pharmacogenomic and tuberculosis and INH and NAT2 and CYP2E1 and polymorphism", (2) "isoniazid and hepatotoxicity and polymorphism and N-acetyltransferase," (3) "isoniazid and hepatotoxicity and polymorphism and CYP2E1". Analysis of hepatotoxic risk based on the odds ratio (confidence interval) using Stata MP 14th edition software. The study of drug-induced liver injury events' risk based on various NAT2 acetylation rates involved 2,140 populations from 8 countries, while the risk analysis based on CYP2E1 allele variety involved 1,530 populations from 5 countries. The literature review shows that the Indonesian population's isoniazid-induced liver injury events' risk with slow acetylator NAT2 enzymes and people with CYP2E1*c1/c2 is three times higher than other populations in various countries. Further, people who have the combination slow acetylator NAT2 and CYP2E1*c1/c2 have more drug-induced liver injury events' risk.

Abstract

Optimizing the implementation of the referral program is one of BPJS 'top programs. BPJS Health implements a referral program based on Medication Therapy Management. Medication therapy management interventions can reduce the frequency of drug-related problems, including non-compliance, and reduce health care costs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the readiness of pharmacists in providing medication therapy management services This research uses a descriptive method by using a questionnaire as an instrument for data retrieval. The sampling technique is convenience sampling. The population is pharmacists who practice pharmaceutical services and are willing to fill out questionnaires. The result most pharmacists feel they have enough clinical knowledge and experience to provide MTM services. There are still many pharmacist workplaces (Puskesmas, Pharmacies and hospitals) that have not yet prepared to provide MTM services. Pharmacists think they have a desire to provide MTM services and have sufficient access to information in designing appropriate MTM services and pharmacists should be involved in providing MTM services. The obstacles faced by pharmacists in providing MTM services are insufficient time, insufficient human resources, limited space, limited information regarding MTM services, and the costs needed to implement MTM. Pharmacists are willing to provide Medication Therapy Management services but many obstacles remain. Training is needed so that pharmacists become more confident in providing clinical services
