Abstract

The tidal lake ecosystem is formed by the flow of the Belmera River and seawater through a tidal process along a course of 12 km from Belawan (Malacca Strait). This lake has a tidal lake that has the characteristics of fresh water to brackish water and Mollusc communities from freshwater species to brackish water species. This study was performed to develop a mollusc conservation strategy based on the spatial and temporal distribution of Mollusca in the tides. The study was conducted from September 2018-August 2019. Mollusc samples were taken every month at high tide and low tide using a Petersen grab tool. Nine Mollusca species, consisting of three bivalves and six gastropods, were identified. Polymedosa expansa is a mollusc species that is considered for conservation. The population size of P. expansa is small, and its distribution is limited to the northern lake. P. expansa was found only in September at high tide and in December at low tide. Competition among Mollusca and habitat availability are obstacles to the survival of P. expansa. The habitat of P. expansa is mangrove, and therefore a conservation approach was carried out through improvement of mangrove quality.

Abstract

Pantai Bali terletak di Batu Bara dengan luas sekitar 637,22 ha dengan luas kawasan pesisir sekitar 30,6% dari total area. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk inventarisasi sarana dan prasarana pendukung di Pantai Bali dan membuat pola pengelolaan ekowisata mangrove di Pantai Bali. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Maret hingga April 2014. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling untuk wawancara. Konsep manajemen ekowisata Pantai Bali sepenuhnya bergantung kepada pemerintah daerah dan memberikan izin kepada publik sebagai pengelola.Bali Beach is a located in Batu Bara with an area of approximately 637.22 ha which is a coastal area about 30.6% of the total area. This study aims to inventory of facilities and supporting infrastructurein Bali Beach and create patterns of mangrove ecotourism management at Bali Beach. This research was conducted in March to April 2014.  Research method used was purposive sampling for interviews. The oncept of Bali Beach ecotourism management entirely to local governments and gives permission to public as the manager.

Abstract

Danau Pondok Lapan (DPL) adalah sebuah danau buatan yang terdapat di Kabupaten Langkat. Danau ini berfungsi sebagai sumber air, irigasi, resapan air tanah bagi masyarakat sekitar, pengendali banjir, dan kegiatan pemancingan ikan. Sampai saat ini data-data tentang danau tersebut sangatlah terbatas. Data-data terkait sumberdaya yang terdapat di danau sangat diperlukan untuk pengelolaan yang lebih tepat. Diantara beberapa data yang dimaksud adalah organisme penyusun danau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari kondisi biologis DPL dengan melihat keragaman jenis dan struktur komunitas nekton, benthos dan plankton di perairan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan Februari - April 2015. Hasil pencacahan plankton di DPL ditemukan 52 jenis dari 10 kelas. Ada 6 kelas dari kelompok pitoplankton dan 4 kelas dari kelompok zooplankton. Jumlah genus paling banyak ditemukan jenis fitoplankton dan zooplankton masing-masing dari kelas Chlorophyceae berjumlah 18 genus dan dari kelas Cladocera sebesar 5 genus. Nekton yang ditemukan terdapat 2 kelas yaitu Actinopterygii dan Malacostrata.Terdapat 5 Ordo nekton yang ditemukan, yaitu 4 ordo dari jenis ikan dan 1 ordo dari jenis udang. Benthos yang ditemukan hanya 3 jenis dari kelas gastropoda, yaitu Bithynia tentaculata, Pomacea canaliculata dan Campeloma decisum. Struktur komunitas plankton, nekton dan benthos relatif tidak stabil serta ada kecenderungan didominansi oleh jenis tertentu.Pondok Lapan Lake (PLL) is an artificial lake located in Langkat regency. The lake its function as source of water, irrigation, catchment area, flood control, and fishing activities. Until recently data about this lake, are limited. The data related to the resource contained in the lake is very necessary for a more appropriate management. Among some of these data are organisms that inhabit the lake. This research aims to study the biological conditions of PLL to see the diversity and community structure of nekton, benthos and plankton. Sampling was conducted in February - April 2015. PLL enumeration results in the plankton found 52 species of 10 classes. There are 6 classes of groups pitoplankton and 4 classes of zooplankton groups. Nekton found there are 7 types of two classes, namely Actinopterygii and Malacostrata. Benthos found only 3 species of gastropod class, namely Bithynia tentaculata, Pomacea canaliculata and Campeloma decisum. Community structure benthos, nekton and plankton are relatively unstable and there is a trend happening dominance by a particular type

Abstract

Pelibatan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan ekowisata mangrove dapat dilakukan dalam bentuk kelembagaan yang dibangun berbasis masyarakat. Kelembagaan dapat berupa  organisasi atau wadah (players of the game) dan aturan main (rules of the game) yang mengatur kelangsungan organisasi maupun kerjasama antara anggotanya untuk mencapai tujuan bersama. kajian ini diperlukan untuk membuat suatu model atau pola pengelolaan ekowisata mangrove berbasis masyarakat. Kajian ini dilakukan di ekowisata mangrove di Pantai Bali, Kecamatan Talawi Kabupaten Batubara. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah kondisi sosial-ekonomi  dan kelembagaan masayarakat sekitar serta karakteristik pengunjung. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif terrhadap kondisi sosial-ekonomi masyarakat. Analisis kelembagan mengacu pada konsep kelembagaan dari Taryono (2009) dan Ruddle (1998). Hasil yang diperoleh adalah karakteristik usia masyarakat yang banyak memanfaatkan Pantai Bali tertinggi pada usia 20-29 tahun yaitu sebanyak 54%. Keterlibatan masyarakat dalam kegiatan ekowisata  mangrove, diperoleh 80%. Berdasarkan wawancara yang dilakukan dilapangan diperoleh hasil karakteristik usia pengunjung yang paling banyak pada kisaran 20-29 tahun dengan latar belakangg pendidikan SLTA sebesar 65%. Saat ini terjadi dualisme pengelolaan mangrove antara masyarakat sekitar dengan PT. Obor. Perbaikan dalam struktur organisasi pengelolaan minawana menjadi langkah pertama dalam perbaikan pengelolaan. Oleh karena itu, pemerintah tentunya perlu memberikan kewewenangan terhadap Kelompok Tani Hutan sebagai organisasi resmi yang mengatur pengelolaan dilapangan. Langkah selanjutnya adalah perbaikan pengelolaan minawana adalah perbaikan dalam aturan main dalam pengelolaan. Aturan main ini terkait dengan apa yang boleh dan tidak boleh dilakukan terhadap pengelolaan minawana. Selain itu, tentunya sanksi atau imbalan apa yang diperoleh jika melanggar aturan yang ditetapkan.Community involvement in the management of mangrove ecotourism can be done in the form of community-based institutions are built. Institutions may be in an organization or container (players of the game) and rules (rules of the game), which regulates the survival of the organization as well as the cooperation between members to achieve a common goal. This study is required to make a model or pattern of mangrove community-based ecotourism management. The study was conducted in the mangrove eco-tourism in Bali Beach, District Talawi Coal County. The data collected is the socio-economic and institutional surrounding communities as well as the characteristics of the visitors. Data was analyzed using descriptive analysis terrhadap socio-economic conditions of society. Institutional analysis refers to the institutional concept of Taryono (2009) and Ruddle (1998). The results obtained are characteristic of the age of the people who are making use of the highest Bali Beach at the age of 20-29 years is 54%. Community involvement in ecotourism activities mangrove, gained 80%. Based on interviews conducted in the field result age characteristics of the visitors most in the range of 20-29 years old with a high school education background belakangg by 65%. When this happens the dualism between the surrounding community mangrove management with PT. Torch. Improvements in management organizational structure minawana be the first step in improving the management. Therefore, the government would need to give the authority to the Forest Farmers Group as an official organization governing the management field. The next step is to improve management of minawana is an improvement in the management rules. This rule is related to what can and can not do against minawana management. In addition, of course, sanctions or rewards what is gained if it violates the rules set.

Abstract

Sejak 1976 Perum Perhutani telah mengembangkan program Social Forestry. Program ini mengintegrasikan budidaya ikan dan pengelolaan hutan mangrove yang dikenal dengan istilah tambak tumpangsari atau minawana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi status ekologis tambak minawana model empang parit dan kelayakan ekonomis tambak minawana dengan memperbaiki kondisi bioteknis pengelolan tambak minawana. Untuk melihat adanya pengaruh dan hubungan kerapatan mangrove pada sistem minawana dengan produksi perikanan di rancang sebuah penelitian berupa rancangan percobaan satu faktor (rancangan acak lengkap).Adapun yang menjadi perlakuan adalah kerapatan mangrove. Kondisi kualitas air saat ini masih layak diperuntukkan bagi kegiatan budidaya. Walaupun ada indikasi terdeteksi logam berat sehingga perlu sistem tandon untuk memperbaiki kualitas air. Secara bioteknis masyarakat penggarap melakukan budidaya secara tradisional dan banyak yang tidak melakukan standar budidaya yang baik. Secara ekonomi sistem minawana saat ini masih bisa untuk dikembangkan untuk meningkat pendapatan masyarakat. Penerapan minawana yang baik dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat hingga 196,19 %. Since 1976, Perhutani companies have developed Social Forestry Program that integreated fish aquaculture and mangrove forest management that was known as “tambak tumpang sari” or silvofishery”. The objective of this research were: 1) to got information about ecological status of silvofishery fish pond “empang parit” model and economics appropriateness with improve bio technical of silvofishery fish pond management, 2) to knew relationship of mangrove density on silvofishery system with the fisheries productions that was set in a experimental design single factor. The results of this research were as ecological status, the water quality showed still appropriateness for fish pond activity, was found heavy metals indication so that need to improve reservoir system to make water quality better. As bio technical the farmers do as tradisional aquaculture and many of them did not follow a good standart aquaculture. As economic silvofishery system is still can developed to increase peoples incomes. The application a good silvofishery can increase peoples incomes until 196,19%.

Abstract

Penelitian mengenai morfometrik dan meristik Ikan Tor (Tor spp.) di DAS Wampu Kabupaten Langkat Sumatera Utara telah dilakukan pada bulan Juli – September 2017 yang terdapat pada Sungai Bahorok dan Sungai Berkail. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui karakteristik  morfometrik dan meristik Ikan Tor (Tor spp.) di DAS Wampu.  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif post facto dengan penangkapan ikan menggunakan alat backpack electrofishing units dengan teknik pengoperasian multiple-pass depletion. Hasil analisis karakteristik morfometrik metode clustering “Between Group Linkage” dengan menggunakan jarak euclidean menghasilkan 2 kelompok cluster yaitu Ikan Tor tambroides dan Tor soro. Karakteristik merisitik Ikan Tor tambroides: jumlah Linnea Lateralis sebanyak 22-24, Sisik Melingkar Badan sejumlah 14 buah, Sisik Depan Sirip Punggung sejumlah 10-11, Sisik Sekeliling Batang Ekor sejumlah 10-12 buah, Sirip Punggung sejumlah DIII9-DIV10 jari-jari sirip, Sirip Perut sejumlah 9 jari-jari sirip, Sirip Dada sejumlah 15-17 jari-jari sirip, Sirip Dubur sejumlah 2 jari-jari sirip keras dan 6 jari-jari sirip halus dan Sirip Ekor sejumlah 22-24 jari-jari sirip. Tor soro memiliki karakteristik: jumlah Linnea Lateralis sebanyak 22-24, Sisik Melingkar Badan sejumlah 16 buah, Sisik Depan Sirip Punggung sejumlah 8-9 buah, Sisik Sekeliling Batang Ekor sejumlah 10-12 buah, Sirip Punggung sejumlah DII9-DIII9 jari-jari sirip, Sirip Perut sejumlah 9 jari-jari sirip, Sirip Dada sejumlah 15-16 jari-jari sirip, Sirip Dubur sejumlah 2 jari-jari sirip keras dan 6 jari-jari sirip halus, Sirip Ekor sejumlah 22-24 jari-jari sirip.

Abstract

Lake Siombak is a tidal lake that is an estuary around the lake covered with various mangrove trees. It is interesting to study the fish's spatial and temporal distribution as a unique and distinctive tidal lake ecosystem. This research was conducted for a year (from September 2018 to August 2019). Fish sampling was performed by installing gill nets (mesh size 1 inch) and cast nets (mesh size 0.5 inch). Gill nets and cast nets were installed at high and low tides during the full moon. This research showed that there were 27 species of 20 families. Tilapia, Mudskipper, Indo-pacific tarpon, and mainly Rice Fish are always found in Lake Siombak. The fish group at Lake Siombak consists of freshwater fish (mainly: Tilapia, Catfish, and Snakehead), brackish fish (mainly: Mudskipper, Rice fish, and Indo-pacific tarpon), and marine fish (mainly: Milkfish, Kanda mullet, and John's snapper). The actual resident in Lake Siombak consists of Oryziidae, Tilapia, and mudskipper. Other fish are temporary resident fish except for Lutjanidae and Scatophagidae as visitor fish during high tide and high salinity periods (dry season) and Synbranchidae during low salinity (rainy season).

Abstract

Sembilan Island was one of the 17 islands located in the East Coast of North Sumatra. This island is surrounded by mangrove with varying thickness and density. Information on the identification and potential of mangrove in this island already reported but limited to a narrow area. Information about the value and status of mangrove ecology in this island have not been written, so it was needed to carry out for a study of mangrove ecological analysis. This information could be used later as a reference in sustainable mangrove management. The objective of the study was to determine the value and ecological status of mangroves. The research was conducted in September 2015. The data were collected at 9 sampling points namely; 4 points in the east, 2 points in the south and 3 points in the west part of the study areas. The spot check method was used in the study. The results showed that there were 28 species of mangrove belonging to 13 families. It's divided into  26 species of true mangrove and two species of associated mangroves. Mangrove’s zonation was Avicennia/Sonneratia on the front and ferns (A. Aureum and A. speciosum) in the section near the mainland. Mangrove thickness reached 134 - 1683 m. The density of mangrove was 333 - 4601 individuals/ha with the cover area of 2522 - 5810 cm2/ha. The results of the importance index value of mangrove showed that A. marina has a great influence and role in the community of mangrove vegetation, especially in the eastern part. Therefore, the mangrove in Sembilan Island was categorized into damage to good condition. The good category was recorded in the western part of the island, while the damaged category was found in the east part of the island.Pulau Sembilan merupakan satu diantara 17 pulau yang terdapat di wilayah Pantai Timur Sumatera Utara. Hampir sepanjang pantai di Pulau Sembilan di tumbuhi oleh mangrove dengan ketebalan yang bervariasi. Informasi tentang identifikasi dan potensi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan sudah ada dilaporkan, namun terbatas pada areal yang sempit. Informasi tentang nilai dan status ekologi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan belum dilaporkan, sehingga perlu adanya kajian tentang analisis ekologi mangrove. Informasi ini nantinya dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam pengelolaan mangrove yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai dan status ekologis mangrove di Pulau Sembilan. Lokasi penelitian dibagi menjadi tiga area dengan 9 titik pengamatan yaitu timur 4 titik, selatan 2 titik, dan barat 3 titik. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada September 2015. Pengambilan contoh mangrove, dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode spot check. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa jenis mangrove yang sebanyak 28 jenis dari 13 famili yang terdiri dari 26 jenis mangrove sejati dan 2 jenis mangrove ikutan. Zonasi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan yaitu, Avicennia/Sonneratia pada bagian depan dan paku-pakuan (A. Aureum dan A. speciosum) pada bagian yang dekat daratan. Ketebalan mangrove mencapai 134 - 1683 m. Kerapatan mangrove yang ditemukan mencapai 333 - 4601 ind/ha. Penutupan mangrove mencapai 2522 - 5810 cm2/ha. Hasil analisis nilai penting jenis mangrove di Pulau Sembilan menunjukkan bahwa A. marina memiliki pengaruh dan peran yang besar dalam komunitas vegetasi mangrove, terutama pada bagian timur. Mangrove di Pulau Sembilan termasuk kategori rusak - baik. Kategori baik pada bagian barat dan rusak pada bagian timur.

Hasil analisis nilai penting jenis mangrove di Pulau Sembilan menunjukkan bahwa A. marina memiliki pengaruh dan peran yang besar dalam komunitas vegetasi mangrove, terutama pada bagian timur. Mangrove di Pulau Sembilan termasuk kategori rusak - baik. Kategori baik pada bagian barat dan rusak pada bagian timur.

Abstract

Sembilan Island was one of the 17 islands located in the East Coast of North Sumatra. This island is surrounded by mangrove with varying thickness and density. Information on the identification and potential of mangrove in this island already reported but limited to a narrow area. Information about the value and status of mangrove ecology in this island have not been written, so it was needed to carry out for a study of mangrove ecological analysis. This information could be used later as a reference in sustainable mangrove management. The objective of the study was to determine the value and ecological status of mangroves. The research was conducted in September 2015. The data were collected at 9 sampling points namely; 4 points in the east, 2 points in the south and 3 points in the west part of the study areas. The spot check method was used in the study. The results showed that there were 28 species of mangrove belonging to 13 families. It's divided into  26 species of true mangrove and two species of associated mangroves. Mangrove’s zonation was Avicennia/Sonneratia on the front and ferns (A. Aureum and A. speciosum) in the section near the mainland. Mangrove thickness reached 134 - 1683 m. The density of mangrove was 333 - 4601 individuals/ha with the cover area of 2522 - 5810 cm2/ha. The results of the importance index value of mangrove showed that A. marina has a great influence and role in the community of mangrove vegetation, especially in the eastern part. Therefore, the mangrove in Sembilan Island was categorized into damage to good condition. The good category was recorded in the western part of the island, while the damaged category was found in the east part of the island.Pulau Sembilan merupakan satu diantara 17 pulau yang terdapat di wilayah Pantai Timur Sumatera Utara. Hampir sepanjang pantai di Pulau Sembilan di tumbuhi oleh mangrove dengan ketebalan yang bervariasi. Informasi tentang identifikasi dan potensi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan sudah ada dilaporkan, namun terbatas pada areal yang sempit. Informasi tentang nilai dan status ekologi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan belum dilaporkan, sehingga perlu adanya kajian tentang analisis ekologi mangrove. Informasi ini nantinya dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam pengelolaan mangrove yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai dan status ekologis mangrove di Pulau Sembilan. Lokasi penelitian dibagi menjadi tiga area dengan 9 titik pengamatan yaitu timur 4 titik, selatan 2 titik, dan barat 3 titik. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada September 2015. Pengambilan contoh mangrove, dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode spot check. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa jenis mangrove yang sebanyak 28 jenis dari 13 famili yang terdiri dari 26 jenis mangrove sejati dan 2 jenis mangrove ikutan. Zonasi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan yaitu, Avicennia/Sonneratia pada bagian depan dan paku-pakuan (A. Aureum dan A. speciosum) pada bagian yang dekat daratan. Ketebalan mangrove mencapai 134 - 1683 m. Kerapatan mangrove yang ditemukan mencapai 333 - 4601 ind/ha. Penutupan mangrove mencapai 2522 - 5810 cm2/ha.
