Abstract

Danau Siombak terletak di pesisir Kota Medan, sehingga perairannya dipengaruhi oleh pasang surut. Danau ini berfungsi sebagai resapan air, pengendali banjir, area kegiatan penangkapan ikan dan biota perairan lain, serta tempat wisata. Berbagai kegiatan di danau ini menyebabkan perubahan kualitas lingkungan perairan danau. Untuk menjaga kelestarian danau tersebut, maka diperlukan upaya pengelolaan yang tepat. Pengelolaan danau seharusnya diawali dengan pemahaman yang baik tentang sifat dan ciri-ciri perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status limnologis Danau Siombak melalui analisis morfometri, aspek fisika, kimia, dan biologi perairan, serta status trofik perairan. Morfometri mencakup dimensi permukaan dan bawah permukaan. Parameter fisika meliputi suhu, Total Suspended Solid (TSS), kejernihan air, daya hantar listrik (DHL), dan salinitas. Parameter kimia meliputi pH, oksigen terlarut (DO), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), nitrat, dan fosfat. Parameter biologi mencakup struktur komunitas nekton dan bentos. Pengukuran morfometri danau dilakukan pada bulan April 2014 pada saat pasang dan surut. Pengukuran kualitas air dan pengambilan data biologi dilakukan pada bulan Mei–Juli 2014 pada saat pasang dan surut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Danau Siombak memiliki luas 41,44 ha dengan kedalaman maksimum 5 m saat pasang dan 4 m saat surut. Berdasarkan aspek fisika, kimia, dan biologi perairan, Danau Siombak tergolong perairan terbuka yang dipengaruhi oleh pasang surut, bersifat asin, dan berkadar oksigen tinggi, dengan waktu tinggal air danau (Rt) selama 15,65 jam dan debit (Q) sebesar 3,7 x 107 m3/jam saat pasang dan 3,0 x 107 m3/jam saat surut. Konsentrasi fosfat yang tinggi mengindikasikan perairan ini sudah tercemar. Namun, kualitas air Danau Siombak masih sesuai untuk kegiatan perikanan. Komunitas bentos dan nekton relatif tidak stabil. Komunitas bentos didominansi oleh Blue Mussel (Mytilus edulis) saat pasang (57%) dan Red-rimmed Melania (Melanoides tuberculata) saat surut (41,34%). Komunitas nekton didominasi oleh Blue Panchax (Aplocheilus panchax) baik pasang (74,07%) maupun surut (64,79%). Secara umum, perairan Danau Siombak tergolong eutrofik.

Abstract

Siombak lake (28 ha area) was a salty lake located in Medan coastal, Indonesia. Water fluctuation influenced by the sea tide. Therefore, it needed to do morphometry dynamical study as the first impression of lake physical characteristic. The purpose of this study was to understand the dynamical of Siombak lake morphometry. The research was done in September 2016. Lake mapping was done by making 100 line zig zag and draw with ArcMap. Bathymetry showed that the bottom of the lake was sloping at the center part of west and southeast of the lake, and steeping at north, south and east. Siombak Lake has shoreline length 2,535.78 m, with SDI value 2.70. Maximum length 756 m, with maximum width 246.15 m. Lake maximum depth was 17.7 m at MSL, 18.98 m at highest tide and 16.71 m at lowest tide, with average depth 5.33 m at MSL, 6.30 m at highest tide and 4.30 m at lowest tide. Lake volume was 783,607.16 m3 at MSL, 829,395.52 m3 at highest tide and 355,544.14 m3 at lowest tide, with water debit around 32.50 – 50.17 m3s-1. Water retention time was ± 4.33 – 6.75 hours

Abstract

River is one of the most important sources of water for human, because it can serve as a source of drinking water, tourism, animal husbandry, and fishery. Positive impact of tourism activities in economic development can also lead to negative effects of environmental degradation. Therefore, a research had been conducted at Betimus River District of Sibolangit, Region of Deli Serdang in June– July 2013 by analyzing the water quality of Betimus Riverand compare it with the water quality standards based on PP No 82 tahun 2001and perceptions of visitors and managers. The Waters quality parameters thatanalyzed, i.e, stream. temperature, brightness, dissolved oxygen,pH, BOD5, ammonis,Colifaecal, and perceptions of visitors. The results showed that water quality value for eight parameters of Betimus River was meet the standard of quality based on PP No 82 tahun 2001 and visitors felt comfortable with these attractions.Key Words :Colifaecal, Betimus River, Tourism, Water Quality.

Abstract

One of the various forms of business which produces fish optimally and do not damage fish populations and environment is a good freshwater fish farming. Currently catfish become one of the leading commodity in the fishery. Bacterial diseases arising from injury affecting the outcome of catfish farming. This research had been conducted on September – October 2013. It purpose was to determine the type of bacterias that commonly found in catfish (Pangasius djambal) wound. Sampling was done one time to collect 10 fishes. Samples were fishes which showed of clinical symptoms such as wound, skin discoloration, defect on the fins, tail and antennae, slow-moving, swim on the surface, tend to be solitary (not clustered ) and also fish without no clinical symptoms. Bacteria only found in injury catfish they are Aeromonas hydrophilla, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas pseudomallei and Morganella morganii.Keywords: Catfish (Pangasius djambal), Fish disease, Types of Bacterias, Wound.

Abstract

Plankton is aquatic organism that flying and its moves within the water current. Plankton is classified into phytoplankton (classified as plant) and zooplankton (classified as animal). The present of plankton in the water is determined by the physic and chemical condition of the water. Plankton has a limitation to tolerate the environment parameter so, its diversity is different depend on physical and chemical conditions. This research was conducted during April to May of 2013. The sample was taken from four observation stations 4 repetitions. Using Purposive Random Sampling with method. The result of research indicates thast there are 7 class of phytoplankton,they are : Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Eulenophyceae, Ulvophyceae and 12 class of zooplankton, they are : Branchiopoda, Cladocera, Clitellata, Copepoda Crustaceae, Filosia, Gastropoda, Lobosea, Monogonta, Oligotricheae Tubulinea, and Turbellaria The highest total number of plankton is found in station 4 (2043,707 ind/l) and the lowest total number of plankton isfound on station 3 (1519,707 ind/l). The highest diversity index value (H'-) for each station is found onstation 3 (1,206) and the lowest on station 4 (0,929). The Pearson correlation of analysis indicates the current, BOD5, phosphate and nitrate have positive correlation to diversity of plankton while temperature, brightness, DO and pH have negative correlation to diversity of plankton.Keywords : Plankton, Asahan River, Diversity.

Abstract

Solution of fabric softener contained cationic surfactant by type quaternary ammonium chloride compounds that harm aquatic life and the environment led to the death of fish. This reaserch intend to determine the level of attack power and influence of fabric softener toxicity to carp seed, this research was conducted on July − November 2013 in the Department of Agriculture and Marine Medan. Stages of testing include : a preliminary test, a definitive test to determine the LC50 until 96 hours and sublethal tests with various concentrations. The results showed of the preliminary test studies have upper threshold value ( N ) of 100 ppm and below the threshold value ( n ) 75 ppm. Test results obtained definitive 96 hour LC50 value of 87.10 ppm. The test results on the highest survival sublethal concentration of 2.61 ppm treatment that is equal to 80 % while the lowest survival at 7.84 ppm concentration and 46.66 %, the highest feed efficiency at treatment concentrations of 2.61 ppm is equal to 4.98 % and the lowest in the treatment of 1.55 % 7.84, and the highest growth rate in the treatment concentration of 2.61 ppm is 0.15 % while the lowest at treatment concentrations of 7.84 ppm at 0.05%. Water quality parameters were observed during the definitive test decreased DO 2.0 − 6.4 mg / l, the temperature increased 27.1 − 30.20C and pH decrease during each treatment concentration of 3 − 6.6 . Water quality parameters at sublethal test that does not decrease drastically DO range 5.2 − 7.6 mg/l, temperature range 27 − 290C and a pH range of 3.4 − 7.5 .Keywords : Fabric Softener, Cyprinus carpio L., toxicity

Abstract

The efficiency of freshwater resources utilization is need to improve in order to increase the production. The purpose of this research is to determine the stocking density of seeds that able to increase Nila growth and survive ability. This research used Nila Gesit with average length in 3,44 cm and average weight in 0,86 gram. Nila gesit was kept in aquarium sized 60 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm, fill with 32 L of water. The research design is complete random plan with 3 treatment and 3 repeatable. The treatment of stocking density are 2 seed/l, 4 seed/l, and 6 seed/l. The results during 28 days are : the highest value 2 seed/l of survival rate (78,65 %), the value of daily growth (3,12 %), and the value of absolute growth (1,07 cm). The result for highest feed conversion in found treatment 3 (6 seed/l) is 4,29. The result has shown that difference of density stock is very significantly affecting rate of daily growth and absolute growth. While degree of survival rate and feed conversion on this research hasn't affected the stocking density. Chemical factor of water quality during the research are : DO (disolved oxygen) 2,8 – 4,9 mg/l, pH 7,1 – 8,6, temperature 26,7 -28,2.Keywords : stocking density, nila gesit, survive rate, growth.

Abstract

Water quality show grade or water conditions that associated with activities or certain purposes. The changes of water quality has influence to species exixtence and amount of water biota like plankton. This research was conducted from April to May 2014 to see the Sunggal River quality in related to PP No. 82 Tahun 2001 using STORET Method and to know the plankton diversity. The samples were taken from three observation stations with 3 replications. The sampling point was determined using Purposive Random Sampling method. From the result with STORET method, Sunggal River at station I was experienced with the heavy pollution with score of -10 and at station II and III was experienced with the medium pollution with score of -18 for allocation of class I. There are ten classes of phytoplankton were found, they are Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Chrysophyceae, Cryptophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Ulvophyceae and Xanthophyceae and 3 classes of zooplankton they are Branchiopoda, Gastropoda and Maxillopoda. The highest value of plankton abudance was at station III as 54 Ind/l and the lowest value of plankton abudance found in station I as 24,8 Ind/l. The highest diversity index (H’) founded at station III is 2,65 and the lowest at station I is 2,32.Keywords : Water Quality, Plankton, Diversity, Sunggal River.

Abstract

Primary Productivity is the formation process of organic compounds through photosynthesis. This research aimed to know primary productivity based on the concentration of chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton identification and it’s abundance at the estuarine of Kecamatan Talawi Kabupaten Batu Bara. The water sampling is conducted three times in two weeks interval during April until Mei 2014. From the observation is known first station’s estuary classified as Well-mixed estuary is the estuary that completely mixed, second station’s estuary as Salt wedge estuary is the estuary that has weak mixing. The research results that there are 5 classes 17 families and 25 species of phytoplankton. The highest species abundance is 1073,889 ind/l found at third station, and the highest abundance species is Skeletonema sp. The highest chlorophyll-a value is 0,89 mg/m3 was found at third station.Keywords: productivity, chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton, Skeletonema sp., estuarine, Kecamatan Talawi.

Abstract

The river is one of the old used by man for a variety of activities in life, with the decline in the quality of human needs and river due to the presence of one of the various waste pollution accidents are heavy metals. This research aims to analyze the content of Pb and water quality standards based on raw fachir PP No 82 of 2001 by using the method tsoret and determine any metal Pb in sediment and ascertaining the quality of sediment based on raw IACD / CEDA. This research was carried out in November-Desember, 2013.The sample using methods purposive sampling by observing three stations. Parameters observed fisika-kimia waters, is the parameter pb on heavy metal concentration and sediments using atomic there water absorption spectrophotometry ( AAS). The level of heavy metals are on board in the highest station of a 0,08 mg / l based by Government Regulation no. 82 of 2001 and the quality of being inducted into a second. Calamity tackling in the metals concentration is found in sedimentary highest station of 2.7 mg / kg, based on environmnetal quality standars iacd / ceda and still classified as low, the sediment yet exceeding quality standards.Keyword : Storet Method and level of pollution Pb in water, sediment, Percut River
