Abstract

In Banten, traditional elites who frequently appear in every political event besides religious leaders (kiai) and jawara are pemuka adat (community leaders) in Kasepuhan Banten Kidul. In the era of decentralization and regional autonomy and along with the implementation of direct elections and regional elections, the involvement of adat leaders by political power and power has also increased. Not only as spiritual advisers, but also as actors of political communication for the sake of certain political forces and powers. In the perspective of the theory of social action, the involvement of the adat leaders as political communicators is a form of social action or is also called a rational action that has a goal to achieve. This goal refers to two things. First, the role and involvement of the adat leaders in Kasepuhan Cisungsang as political communicators is based on the awareness of making changes in the community which is motivated by the marginalization and neglection of development in their region due to the regulation and impartiality of the government. Secondly, the role and involvement of adat leaders as political communicators has a meaning as an effort to uphold the existence of adat      due to marginalization and impartiality as well as an influence to government policies that can have positive implications for the development and welfare of the community, including in terms of legal recognition by the state in the form of regional regulations (perda).

Abstract

Since 2007, the Amil Zakat Harapan Duafa Institute (LAZ Harfa) has actively initiated a healthy life movement campaign in the Pandeglang Regency, especially to people who are still practicing open defecation (BABS), due to either the lack of latrines or other factors. “Jamban” in English means latrine. Using the Community Lead Total Sanitation (CLTS) method, this healthy living campaign is focused on the latrine ownership program through the arisan system. An Arisan is a form of rotating savings in Indonesian culture. From the results of research using case studies, this healthy living movement campaign has brought significant results. Through a persuasive communication process as part of the approach to the community strategy, the results were obtained that by the end of 2019 as many as 29 assisted villages in 8 sub-districts in Pandeglang District had been free from the practice of open defecation. This fact shows that the persuasive communication carried out in this healthy living campaign is quite effective and brings the expected results. Sejak tahun 2007 silam, Lembaga Amil Zakat Harapan Duafa (LAZ Harfa) aktif melakukan inisiasi kampanye gerakan hidup sehat di wilayah Kabupaten Pandeglang, khususnya kepada masyarakat yang masih menjalankan kebiasaan membuang air besar sembarangan (BABS), baik karena ketiadaan jamban ataupun karena faktor lain. Menggunakan metode Community Lead Total Sanitation (CLTS), kampanye hidup sehat ini difokuskan pada program kepemilikan jamban melalui sistem arisan. Dari hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan studi kasus, kampanye gerakan hidup sehat ini telah membawa hasil yang disignifikan. Melalui proses komunikasi persuasif sebagai bagian dari strategi pendekatan kepada masyarakat, diperoleh hasil bahwa hingga akhir 2019 sebanyak 29 desa dampingan di 8 kecamatan di Kabupaten Pandeglang telah terbebas dari kebiasaan BABS. Fakta tersebut menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi persuasif yang dilakukan dalam kampanye hidup sehat ini berjalan cukup efektif dan membawa hasil sebagaimana diharapkan.

Abstract

The regional elections (Pilkada) of 2020 have been concluded, and could be considered a success. Yet, its implementation cannot be said to be entirely successful, considering the lack of concern of political parties in helping the Government handle the Covid-19 pandemic through their political campaigns.  This study intends to discuss political communication carried out by political parties in an effort to raise awareness of preventing the spread of Covid-19 to the public during the 2020 Pilkada in Indonesia. The approach taken is qualitative, collecting data through in-depth interviews, with the subjects comprising of representatives of political parties and political communication experts.  The study finds that the bulk of the political campaigns carried out by political parties is focused on winning the elections, rather than on efforts to help deal with Covid-19. Community involvement also tends to be low in the 2020 elections, due to a lack of understanding of digital literacy and reluctance to vote due to a lack of understanding of health protocols.Keywords: health protocols; regional elections; community involvement.

Abstract

Kasus dugaan penistaan agama yang dilakukan Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok tidak hanya menimbulkan pro dan kontra di masyarakat tetapi juga polemik di dunia maya. Media sosial seperti facebook dipenuhi berbagai wacana kebencian. Banyak netizen memproduksi dan mereproduksi meme untuk memvisualisasikan kebenciannya terhadap pihak-pihak yang terkait dengan kasus tersebut. Tulisan ini mengkaji bagaimana netizen mengekspresikan kebenciannya terhadap pihak-pihak yang terkait dengan kasus dugaan penistaan agama melalui visualisasi meme, dan bagaimana penggambaran netizen terhadap pihak-pihak yang menjadi objek visualisasi dalam bentuk meme tersebut? Hasilnya, berbagai penggambaran netizen kepada parapihak terkait kasus dugaan penistaan agama mengerucut kepada bentuk kebencian dan pembelaan. Netizen yang kontra memvisualisasikan Ahok sebagai penista agama, tidak layak menjadi pemimpin, dan berbagai visualisasi kebencian lain. Kelompok pro Ahok, Megawati Soekarnoputri, Kapolri Jenderal Polisi Tito Karnavian, dan Presiden Jokowi, juga menjadi pihak yang tak luput dari penggambaran negatif penuh kebencian. Sedangkan meme terhadap Buni Yani memberikan penggambaran positif. Ia menjadi sosok yang dibela. Sedangkan netizen pro Ahok memberikan penggambaran berisi pembelaan terhadap Ahok tetapi bertendensi kebencian terhadap kelompok kontra Ahok. Gambaran kebencian juga dilakukan oleh netizen terhadap Buni Yani, kelompok kontra Ahok, dan terutama sekali Habib Rizieq. Cases of alleged blasphemy committed Basuki Tjahaja Purnama  (Ahok) not only raises the pros and cons in the community but also polemic in cyberspace. Social media such as Facebook full of hatred discourse. Many netizens producing and reproducing meme to visualize the hatred of the parties associated with the case. This article examines how netizens expressing hatred against those associated with cases of alleged blasphemy through visualization meme, and how netizens depiction of the parties which is the object of visualization in the form of the meme? As a result, images of netizen to related parties alleged blasphemy case boiled down to the hate and defense. Netizens who cons visualize Ahok as a blasphemer, unfit to be a leader, and a variety of other hatred visualization. Pro Ahok, Megawati Sukarnoputri, police chief Tito Karnavian, and President Jokowi, those who did not escape  the negative portrayal of hatred. While the meme to Buni Yani give positive portrayals. He is a person who defended. Meanwhile, netizens meme pro Ahok provides unbiased depiction of defense against Ahok but the tendency to hate against a group of counter Ahok. Images of hatred is also done by netizens against Buni Yani, the counter Ahok, and particularly  Habib Rizieq.

Abstract

Praktik jurnalisme kuning (yellow journalism) di Indonesia telah berlangsung sejak era Demokrasi Liberal dan berlanjut di era Orde Baru seiring dengan kemunculan koran Pos Kota dengan trilogi informasi yang disajikan: kriminalitas, kekerasan dan seksualitas. Pasca diberlakukannya Undang-Undang Pers No. 40 Tahun 1999, praktik jurnalisme demikian semakin memperlihatkan peningkatan dengan munculnya berbagai media serupa dengan Pos Kota. Pemberitaan yang bombastis penuh sensasi, vulgar, bahkan cenderung sadistis menjadi trend di banyak media. Kondisi yang kemudian juga berlangsung pada media berita online di era milenial saat ini.  Kebebasan pers yang didedikasikan untuk mencapai kemerdekaan pers guna mewujudkan kedaulatan rakyat yang berasaskan demokrasi, keadilan, dan supremasi hukum, sesuai semangat Undang-Undang No. 40 Tahun 1999, pada sebagian media dan wartawan lebih bermakna kebebasan tanpa batas dan cenderung keluar dari koridor etis-profetis, sehingga menimbulkan dampak negatif yang tidak kecil bagi masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how public space can be a representation of public pride and its contribution as a medium of public communication. The selection of Serus City public space locus research which is objectively the Capital of Banten Province is expected to be a representation and role model for cities with ideal public spaces. The method used is a qualitative approach. The technique carried out by researchers is a survey of academic literature in the field of public policy and communication in order to obtain concepts that are relevant to research. The technique of collecting data is through searching various sources and literature both from government documents and reporting on print and electronic mass media, journals and books related to public administration and communication. The results of the study indicate that the management of public spaces in Serang City still does not represent pro-public policies, this is a challenge for public policy stakeholders in Serang City in formulating the management of ideal public spaces. The objective condition of Serang City's public space still cannot be a medium of public communication that is able to encourage freedom of thought and egalitarian action in the public sphere.

Abstract

Seren taun is a traditional ceremony performed by Kasepuhan Cisungsang, Banten Kidul, as a vehicle to give thanks to God Almighty for their harvest. In the perspective of intracultural communication. Seren taun is an indigenous communication medium that serves to transform the values of adat from one generation to the next for the preservation of their cultural identity. Therefore, every ceremony of ceremonial seren taun must be attended and followed by all members of indigenous communities without exception, either living in custom territory or outside customary territory. Meanwhile, in the perspective of intercultural communication, seren epidemic ceremony becomes a medium for the existence of adat, so that its existence is accepted, acknowledged, and protected by the state.This study focuses on understanding: First, how the kasepuhan community makes seren taun as a medium of communal communication in order to reinforce their cultural identity. Second, how the society kasepuhan make seren epidemic as a medium of communication for the sake of existence. Based on these two questions, it is understood that seren taun has expanded its function. As a form of respect for the earth (land) and thankfulness of the harvest, as well as the symbolic form of existence of society. The existence of expansion of function in seren taun, based on awareness affirming identity as indigenous peoples with all its distinctive style and culture, which is not owned by other society entity, as well as contestation of their cultural identity to other party for the sake of existence of adat. Keywords: Seren Taun, Kasepuhan Cisungsang, Cultural Identity, Customary Existence

Abstract

Keterlibatan sejumlah artis dan nama-nama pesohor lain di jagat industri hiburan dalam jaringanprostitusi online merupakan fenomena gunung es yang menunjukkan kepada kita bahwa duniaprostitusi di tanah air telah menjadi ladang bisnis yang menggiurkan, dikemas sedemikian rupa,melibatkan sindikasi dan jaringan yang luas dengan memanfaatkan media daring sebagai saranapemasaran. Dalam perspektif ekonomi politik, prostitusi online ini telah menjadikan tubuh perempuantidak lagi sekadar memiliki nilai guna yang bersifat privat dan mempribadi, melainkan menjadikomoditas dan oleh karenanya memiliki nilai jual dan bisa dinikmati sesiapa pun yang mampumembayar sesuai angka penawaran. Sedangkan dalam perspektif teori pertukaran sosial, para artisatau sesiapa pun yang terlibat dalam jaringan prostitusi online hingga kemudian terjalin interaksi yangberujung pada transaksi seksual itu merupakan tindakan sadar yang dilakukan untuk sama-samamemperoleh keuntungan, baik bersifat materi maupun keuntungan berupa kepuasan yang lain.Penelitian berbasis studi kepustakaan ini hendak mengkaji dua hal. Pertama, bagaimana komodifikasitubuh dilakukan oleh mereka yang terlibat dalam jaringan prostitusi online. Kedua, bagaimanatransaksi melalui media daring dilakukan, dan kepuasan apa yang diperoleh dari transaksi tersebut.

Abstract

This study was conducted to obtain an overview of the communication barriers between lecturers and students during the online class in the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is a case study and descriptive qualitative in which the result obtained from the research and the processed of the data about the communication barriers that occur in online lectures are deeply processed. The collected data consists of primary data that is obtained from online interviews and discussions with informan. Secondary data is obtained from various literature sources related to information and policies online lectures. Based on the result of research, show that at least there are three communication barriers that take place in online lectures, namely technological, environmental, and psychological barriers. Those three barriers are considered as lecture processed disruptions which implicate that there are students' difficulties in studying and understanding the lecture material well.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the negotiation of religious identities within the community of Kalipasir, Tangerang, using data obtained from in-depth interviews of a resident, head of RT and RW. Kalipasir is a religiously divided community, yet there has not been any conflict. The results showed that the negotiation of Buddhist-Confucian identity uses the local language, diverting economic activities with the potential for conflict, tolerance, contributing, and participating in celebrating Islamic rituals. Identity negotiation in the Islamic community is accomplished through ensuring minorities are protected from oppression, avoiding disrupting rituals, utilizing acculturative architecture, and refraining from performing missionary activities. Meanwhile, Christian identity is being negotiated by maintaining distance and only engaging in missionary operations among Buddhist-Confucians. This indicates the assimilationist model attained through communication can be used to build tolerance in Indonesia through multiculturalism.
