Abstract

Abstract

Water is a natural resource that is absolutely necessary for life and human life, as well as in the environmental management system, water is the main element. In everyday life, water is a basic need for the quality and sustainability of human life. Therefore, water must be available in sufficient quantity and quality. Fulfillment of water needs can be done by means of individual systems or communal systems (groups). PAMSIMAS (Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision) is one of the programs implemented by the government which is implemented in rural and suburban areas which is carried out with a communal system (https://pamsimas.pu.go.id/). One of them is in Kampung Pinang Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency in the form of assistance for clean water tanks. Prior to the existence of the reservoir from the PAMSIMAS government program, villagers used Kampar River water to meet their daily needs. Physically, Kampar river water looks brownish in color, this shows that the water is not suitable for consumption and is used for household needs. The PAMSIMAS that is being built currently uses water sources from below the ground surface which are usually used for cooking needs by the residents of Kampung Pinang Village. However, the water quality physically looks colorful. If this is still used continuously, it will greatly affect the health of the people of Kampung Pinang Village. Clean water is water that meets the requirements for a drinking water supply system, where the intended requirements are requirements in terms of water quality which include physical, chemical, biological and radiological qualities, so that when consumed it does not cause side effects (Kemenkes RI, 1990). From the results of the water quality test from the UPT Health Laboratory of the Pekanbaru City Government Health Service, it was found that for water sourced from PAMSIMAS drilled water, all test parameters met the requirements. Meanwhile, for water originating from rivers, the parameters of turbidity, color, iron, manganese, and total coliforms do not meet the requirements.

Abstract

The presence of affordable housing in developing countries is a crucial issue in order to fulfill the primary need for housing in a large market segment, especially people whose income is below the average household income. In contrast to developed countries, the development of studies on affordable housing construction (AHC) in developing countries has not been well mapped. This certainly creates many gaps in determining the direction of future developments, especially related to the studies that will be carried out. This study tries to map the development of scientific publications related to AHC  in developing countries, from 1983 - 2021. Using scientometric techniques and VosViewers as a data processing tool, 116 publications that meet the given criteria have been identified. The findings of this study reveal a mapping of publications organized by country, organization, research outlet, author, document citation, and main research area. During the observation period, most research focused on developing nations, affordability, sustainable development, the construction industry, and the developing globe. In addition, the results of this study also successfully mapped opportunities for future research focuses related to building materials, affordable housing, low-income populations, decision-making, and structural design. In conclusion, this study highlights the need for further research on affordable housing development in developing countries to guide policy makers and researchers in developing affordable housing solutions that meet the housing needs of low-income households.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the skills and participation of local communities in managing plastic waste within the Sawahlunto National Geopark area, serving as a catalyst for addressing global environmental and climate change issues. This initiative was implemented through community empowerment based on inter-institutional collaboration. Although the outcomes of community empowerment in improving plastic waste management skills and participation had not yet yielded the expected benefits for holistic economic development, the increased community understanding of plastic waste management fostered new hopes and a commendable sense of environmental concern. This success was evident in the community's active role in environmental management around key geosites through mutual cooperation activities and their growing interest in educational and research activities within the Sawahlunto National Geopark area.
