Abstract

One of the diagnostic and intervention treatment in cardiovascular disease is cardiac catheterization. Cardiac catheterization is an invasive procedure, and every medical procedure, whether invasive or not, causes kind of emotional reactions for the patient. One such reaction is anxiety which usually occurs before medical treatment. The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with cardiac pre-catheterization patient anxiety at Panti Rapih Hospital Yogyakarta. This is a quantitative descriptive correlative study with a cross-sectional approachment. The population were ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) patients who underwent cardiac catheterization from December 2020 to March 2021 at Panti Rapih Hospital. The sampling technique of this study was accidental-purposive gathered 25 respondents. Data collection methods: questionnaires and observation sheets. Results: factors associated with pre-catheterized cardiac patient anxiety were gender p-value = 0.017 and knowledge of procedures p-value = 0.000, which was not related to anxiety of pre-catheterized cardiac patients: level of education p-value = 0.522, family support p-value = 0.379, catheterization experience with p-value = 0.100 and waiting time p-value = 0.673. Suggestions for nursing are to provide education related to catheterization with attractive media and for further researchers to conduct similar research with qualitative methods.

Abstract

Background: Final-level students have various academic assignments that must be accomplished on time. This condition leads to the increasing physical activities and stress. Furthermore, it has impact on the sleep quality. Objective:The study aim stoidentify the relationship of stress levels and physical activity with the sleep quality of final-level students of the Diploma Three Nursing Study Program of STIKes Panti Rapih Yogyakarta. Methods: The research method used is a correlative analytical prescription with a cross sectional design. The population in this study is all students of the final level of The Diploma of Three Nursing Program STIKes Panti Rapih Yogyakarta. Then, sampling by a total side method as many as 95 students. In the data retrieval of stress levels using the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10) instrument, physical activity with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF), and sleep quality with the Sleep Quality Questionnaire (KKT). Results: Low stress levels were 1 (1.1%), moderate stress 63 (66.3%), and severe stress 31 (32.6%). Furthermore, moderate activity data amounted to 38 (40.0%) and high activity 57 (60.0%). The data indicated that bad sleep quality as much as 93 (97.9%) and good sleep quality 2 (2.1%). Spearman Rho's analysis showed a link between stress levels and sleep quality (r=-0.530, p= 0.000) and a relationship between physical activity and sleep quality (r= -0.347, p= 0.001). Conclusion:There is a relationship between stress levels and physical activity and sleep quality of the students at the final level of the Third Diploma of Nursing Study Program STIKes Panti Rapih Yogyakarta. It is expected that students are able to have stress management and maintain their physical activity in order to have good sleep quality. Moreover, educational institutions can also do health promotion for the students.

Abstract

Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) causes high mortality and increases every year, due to an imbalance between oxygen demand in the heart and blood flow due to the narrowing of the heart's blood vessels. The cardiac catheterization procedure can cause several responses in the patient, such as anxiety, pain, fear about the procedure, and fear of death, and this action is performed on the patient while conscious. so that patients can see directly the process of cardiac catheterization. After the procedure, the patient will be taken to the ICCU room for further post-catheterization care Objective: To find out the experiences of ACS patients undergoing cardiac catheterization at Panti Rapih Hospital, Yogyakarta. Methods: The research design used is qualitative with a descriptive phenomenology approach. The sampling technique was non-probability sampling (purposive sampling), with inclusion criteria for participants undergoing cardiac catheterization for the first time and having a stent/ring placed. The sample in this study was 5 participants according to data saturation, data collection used in-depth interviews with interview guidelines and tape recorders. The data analysis method used is from Creswell. Results: The study found six themes, namely 1) Internal and external motivation in performing cardiac catheterization 2) Surrender in undergoing cardiac catheterization, 3) The description of cardiac catheterization is not scary 4) Feelings of discomfort after cardiac catheterization 5) Positive feelings of after undergoing catheterization heart 6) Good service by health workers. The role of the nurse is very important in accompanying patients undergoing cardiac catheterization before, during, and after the procedure, because it will have an impact on the patient's psychology. For health workers, to provide services holistically, especially paying attention to psychological aspects such as providing support and explanations about cardiac catheterization procedures so as to reduce anxiety and provide patient satisfaction Keywords: Experience, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Cardiac Catheterization

Abstract

Background: Self-management is essential for controlling blood pressure and requires consistent effort. Mobile health (mHealth) applications can support patients in independently managing hypertension and maintaining better control over their blood pressure. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of MaRiTensi mobile application in improving knowledge, motivation, self-efficacy, and self-care among patients with hypertension, as well as in lowering blood pressure. Methods: A two-arm randomized controlled trial with a single-blind evaluator was conducted among 108 patients with hypertension, recruited from a private hospital and two health centers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The 12-week study was implemented from October 2023 to April 2024. Participants were randomly assigned to the intervention group, which used the MaRiTensi app, or the control group, which received usual care. Primary outcomes—knowledge, self-care, self-efficacy, and motivation—were measured using a validated questionnaire, while the secondary outcome—blood pressure—was assessed through clinical measurement. Ninety-nine participants completed the study and were included in the analysis. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to evaluate within-group changes over time. Intergroup comparisons were analyzed using the chi-square test, independent t-test, or Mann–Whitney U test. Results: No significant baseline differences were found between the two groups (p >0.05). Significant improvements were observed in knowledge, self-care, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure in both groups (p <0.01). Self-efficacy significantly improved only in the intervention group (p <0.01). No significant changes in motivation were observed over time in either group (p >0.05). Significant between-group differences were found at the first evaluation for self-care (p = 0.005; d = 0.58), self-efficacy (p = 0.011; d = 0.52), motivation (p = 0.026; d = 0.44), systolic pressure (p = 0.039; d = 0.42), and diastolic pressure (p = 0.009; d = 0.54), and at the second evaluation for self-care (p = 0.024; d = 0.46). Conclusions: MaRiTensi may effectively improve self-care, self-efficacy, and blood pressure control among patients with hypertension, although it showed limited impact on knowledge and motivation. The application shows promise as a nursing intervention, but further research is needed to assess its long-term effectiveness and sustainability.
