Abstract

ABSTRACTRed  chilli  is  commercial  crop  and  has  high  economic  values.  Experiments were  conducted  to improve  red  chilli’s  cultivation  technique,  by  applying organic  mulches  to  increase  plant  growth  and yield.   The  experiment  was set  up  in  a  completely  randomized  block  design  with  three  replications to evaluate the effects of organic mulches on microclimate, soil chemical properties, red chilli growth and yield. Mulch treatment consisted of silver-black polyethylene plastic, rice straw, rice husk, corn litter and without mulch as a control. The application of organic mulches at the rate of 6 ton  ha-1in the dry season increased soil temperature, soil moisture, cation exchange capacity, pH, C organic, soil organic matter, N total, K availability and C/N ratio. The application of organic mulches in dry season increased plant growth in terms of number of dichotome branches, leaf area, and dry weight of plant, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, fruit length and better fruit yields. The highest production was achieved by rice straw, i.e, 1.29 kg fruit fresh weight per plant. Plant treated with organic mulches produced fruit per plot 18% greater than those treated with plastic polyethylene.Keywords: cation exchange capacity, leaf area, growth, yieldABSTRAKCabai  merah  merupakan tanaman  komersial dan  memiliki  nilai ekonomi yang tinggi. Percobaan dilakukan untuk memperbaiki teknik budidaya cabai merah dengan  pengaplikasian mulsa organik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman. Percobaan disusun dalam rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan 3 ulangan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh mulsa organik terhadap iklim mikro, sifat kimia tanah, pertumbuhan dan hasil cabai merah. Mulsa yang digunakan adalah plastik polietilen hitam perak, jerami padi, sekam padi, serasah jagung dan tanpa gulma sebagai kontrol. Aplikasi mulsa organik adalah sebesar 6 ton/ha pada musim kering meningkatkan suhu tanah, kelembaban tanah, kapasitas tukar kation, pH, C organik, bahan organik tanah, N total, ketersediaan K dan C/N rasio. Aplikasi mulsa organik pada musim kering meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman dilihat dari jumlah cabang dikotomus, luas area daun, bobot kering tanaman laju  asimilasi bersih, laju pertumbuhan relatif, panjang buah dan hasil buah yang lebih  baik.  Produksi tertinggi  diperoleh  pada  perlakuan  mulsa  organik  jerami  padi  dengan bobot  buah segar,  sekitar  1.29  kg  per  tanaman.  Tanaman  dengan perlakuan  mulsa  organik  meng hasilkan  buah  per plot 18% lebih besar dibandingkan tanaman dengan perlakuan mulsa plastik polietilen hitam perak.Kata kunci : kapasitas tukar kation, area daun, pertumbuhan, hasil

Abstract

The study, entitledTestUsingcowexcretaon Growthand ResultsSeveralvarieties ofsorghum(Sorghum bicolorL.Moench) to determine the effecton thegrowth and yield ofsorghumcowexcretafertilizer application. This researchhas beenconductedinHamletNgrombot, PlesanVillage, District Nguter, Sukoharjo, Central JavaByDateMarch 8, 2014untilJune 22, 2014. This study used a factorialmethodwitharchetypalcompleterandomized block design(CRBD) consisting oftwotreatments,a widevarietyconsists of 2levels in varietiesWray(V1) andKeller(V2) and thekinds offertilizercombinationconsisting of4 levelsie an organic fertilizer (E0), solid cattle manure excreta + ½ the recommended dose of an organic fertilizer (E1), liquid cow manure excreta 25% + ½ the recommended dose of an organic fertilizer and half the recommended dose of excreta solid beef (E2), liquid cow manure excreta 10% + ½ the recommended dose of an organic fertilizer and solid excreta half the recommended dose (E3) so that the resulting 8 treatments and their combinations - each repeated 3 times. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance of 5% and 1%, and followed by Duncan test  with a significance level of 5% if there is an interaction between the two treatments. The results of this study indicate that the varieties (V) highly significant in percentage growth parameters, of leaf number and weight of seeds per plot, and no significant difference in the parameters of plant height, stem diameter 30 days after planting and 60 days after planting, panicle length, panicle weight and seed weight per plant.Fertilizercombination treatment(E) differ significantlyintrunk diameterof 30daysafterplanting, significant differencesinplant heightandweight ofseedsper plot, no significant difference inthe percentage ofgrowth, number of leaves, stem diameter 60daysafterplanting, panicle length, panicleweightof plot, plantingseed weight.while the interactionbetweena widevariety andcombination offertilizer(VxE) differ significantlyintrunk diameterandseed weightof plot, no significant difference inthe percentage ofgrowth10daysafterplantingand15daysafterplanting, plant height, leaf number, panicle length, panicleweightof plant, panicleweightof plotandseed weightofplant. The highest yieldis shownbya combination of treatments(V2E2) with900.00gand the lowestvalueindicatedby(V1E2) with avalue of476.67g.

Abstract

Sorghum is include on grains but more widely used for livestock fodder. Sweet sorghum are often referred to as a raw materials for clean industry because almost all of the components of its biomass can be used for various industrial purposes. The aims of the research are to determine the effect of different types of manure on the growth and field of two varieties of sweet sorghum in dry land. The research method is a factorial experiment using Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD), consists of two factors, which is sweet sorghum varieties and manure types. The varieties which was used are Numbu and Kawali. The second treatment which was used are without manure, chicken manure, goat manure, cow manure, and kascing. Total treatment combination is ten units and each combination repeated three times. The research variables are plant height, stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, root length, root volume, fresh weight stover, dry weight stover, number of seeds, seed weight, essence content, and sugar content. Data were analyzed using F test with 95% of confidence level, if there is significantly a difference, and then followed by DMRT method in level of 5%. The result of this research shows that the highest sugar content is Kawali variety treatmented by chicken manure equals to 12.13 obrix. On the other hand, for lowest sugar level is Numbu variety treatmented by cow manure equals to 10.33 obrix. Interaction between types of manure and sweet sorghum varieties occurs in number of seeds per plant. Keywords: dry land, organic manure, sweet sorghum, Sorghum bicolor L.
