Abstract

Seaweed farmers are those farmers who have seaweeds farming in rural coastal area, as their moyor income. The objective of this study was to determine the degree of relationship between individual characteristics of seaweed farmers and their entrepreneurship or business competence. Data were collected in July to October2006 from the 280 seaweed farmers. Data were analyzed by Kendal Concordance and Tau_b Path analysis and Pearson procedures. The important results of the study were as follows: (1) most of them are young, low educated, family size is sedentary, low family income, low in media utilization and sedentary in experience, motivation and capital, (2) two groups of competence were perceived (competence-importance) showed that the existence of positive correlation or high agreement, (3) Degree of all individual characteristic showed high positive correlation or high agreement for rank ten component of entrepreneur or business competence, (4) Mostly individual characteristic have significant relationship to entrepreneurship competence with existence of indirect and direct influence to some individual characteristics through entrepreneur or business competence and also direct to productions and incomes of seaweed farmers

Abstract

ABSTRAKSektor pangan merupakan sektor yang menjadi prioritas di Indonesia dalam pembangunan nasional. Salah satu sub-sektor pangan yaitu peternakan. Produksi daging, telur dan susu merupakan bagian utama produksi hasil peternakan. Sub-sektor peternakan memegang peranan penting dalam pengembangan agrobisnis di Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Komoditas peternakan yang diusahakan rakyat di Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara terdiri dari 7 jenis yaitu: sapi potong, kerbau, kuda, kambing, babi, ayam dan itik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi unggulan dan penyebaran komoditi sub-sektor peternakan dan kemungkinan budidayanya di Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis location quotien (LQ) untuk mengetahui potensi pengembangan komoditas peternakan di tiap kabupaten, dengan menggunakan indikator volume produksi daging semua komoditas peternakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan potensi pengembangan komoditas peternakan diperoleh, ayam buras merupakan komoditas peternakan terunggul di Sulawesi Tenggara karena memiliki nilai LQ>1 yang tersebar di 9 kabupaten, dan kedua adalah komoditas sapi potong dan kambing dengan sebarannya di 8 kabupaten yang berbeda. Berdasarkan potensi daerah, kabupaten yang memiliki keragaman komoditas peternakan tertinggi adalah kabupaten Kolaka Utara, karena memiliki 6 komoditas yang memiliki nilai LQ>1, diikuti kabupaten Wakatobi yang memiliki 5 komoditas dengan nilai LQ>1.Kata Kunci: komoditas peternakan, location quotient, potensi unggulanABSTRACTThe food sector is a priority sector in Indonesia in national development. One of the food sub-sectors is livestock. Meat, egg, and milk production are the main parts of livestock production. The livestock subsector plays an important role in the development of agribusiness in Southeast Sulawesi Province. Livestock commodities cultivated by the people in Southeast Sulawesi Province consist of 7 types, namely: beef cattle, buffalo, horse, goat, pig, chicken, and duck. The aim of this study is to find out the superior potential and distribution of livestock sub-sector commodities and possible cultivation in Southeast Sulawesi Province. Data were analyzed using the location quotient (LQ) analysis to determine the potential for livestock commodity development in each district, using an indicator of the volume of meat production of all livestock commodities. The results showed: 1) Based on the potential development of livestock commodities obtained, free-range chicken is the leading livestock commodity in Southeast Sulawesi because it has an LQ value>1 spread in 9 districts, and second is the Beef and Goat commodity with its distribution in 8 different districts, and 2) Based on the regional potential, the district which has the highest diversity of livestock commodities is the North Kolaka district, because it has 6 commodities that have LQ value >1. Followed by the Wakatobi district which has 5 commodities with LQ value >1.Keywords: livestock commodities, location quotient, superior potential

Abstract

The study was conducted in June 2009 around the waters of Samalona, Barranglompo, Koedingareng Keke, Badi, Langkai and Kapoposang islands, representing four zones of Spermonde Archipelago of South Sulawesi. Seven species of anemonefish from two genera were found living symbiotically with 7 species of sea anemones. Those fishes were Amphiprion clarkii, A. melanopus, A. ocellaris, A. sandaracinos, A. perideraion, A. polymnus and Premnas biaculeatus. Three of these fishes were simbiotically found with one species of anemone (specific symbiont), and one species of fish was symbiotically found with five species of anemones.Keywords: Amphiprioninae, Spermonde Archipelago, anemone symbiont

Abstract

Liquid soap has become a basic necessity, especially during the Covid pandemic. The quality of soap is influenced by the type of raw material used. Candlenut oil saponification with potassium hydroxide produces liquid soap which has the potential to be anti-bacterial. Ultrasonic waves (US) produce cavitation which speeds up the reaction. This study aims: (1) Synthesis and characterization of liquid hazelnut oil soap, (2) to determine the antibacterial activity of liquid soap. The stages in this study were: (1) isolation and characterization of hazelnut oil, (2) making liquid soap at various alkaline concentrations with US (3) characterizing liquid soap (4) testing for antibacterial activity. The results showed that liquid soap can be made by saponification with KOH hazelnut oil, obtained physical properties of viscous liquid form, yellowish white color, distinctive aroma. The chemical properties of liquid soap have a pH of 8.46, a density of 1.10 g/mL, a free fatty acid content of 0.34%, a free alkaline content of 0.05%, a viscosity of 1,460 cSt and a surface tension of 4.33 x 10-4 N/m. Candlenut liquid soap has antibacterial activity in the weak category against E. coli bacteria and in the moderate category against S. aureus bacteria

Abstract

Kuda laut merupakan salah satu jenis ikan hias air laut yang banyak diminati, selain untuk tujuan estetika sebagai ikan hias akuarium, juga dalam keadaan kering digunakan sebagai bahan baku obat tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan sintasan kuda laut, H. barbouri yang dipelihara dalam keramba jaring apung (KJA). Penelitian dilaksanakan di laksanakan di Teluk Laikang Kabupaten Takalar. Pemeliharaan kuda laut dalam karamba jaring apung menggunakan kurungan yang terbuat dari kain organdi dan berbentuk persegi panjang dengan ukuran 0,80 (p) x 0,80 (l) x 1,5 (t) m. Sebanyak 6 buah kurungan kuda laut ditempatkan dalam satu petak keramba jaring apung berukuran 3 x 3 m. Setiap kurungan ditebar benih kuda laut sebanyak 50 ekor dengan ukuran kisaran panjang 2,5 – 3 cm. Pakan yang diberikan berupa Artemia dewasa hidup dan pemberian pakan segar seperti udang misys beku. Hasil pemeliharaan kuda laut dalam KJA diperoleh pertumbuhan kuda laut mencapai ukuran kisaran panjang 5,06 hingga 5,15 cm, dengan rata-rata pertumbuhan mutlak kuda laut 2,4 cm dan rata-rata laju pertumbuhan hariannya sebesar 0,040 cm/hari serta sintasan sebesar 43,33%. Kata Kunci: pertumbuhan, sintasan, KJA, Hippocampus barbouri.

Abstract

Kailan (Brassica oleracea) is vegetable can grow on all types of soil, enjoyed by the community so it has good prospects to be developed in Indonesia. Good Cultivation technique the production of kailan. Therefore, the use of liquid organic fertilizer combination with the composition of planting media needs to be applied as both can increase the product of kailan that is organic so that the needs of healthy vegetables can be completed. The purpose of this study are determine the best concentration of liquid organic fertilizer for growth and yield of kailan vegetables, the best planting media for growth and yield of kailan vegetables, and the interaction between of liquid organic fertilizer application and media type of planting toward the growth of kailan vegetables. The results of this research that the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer has no significant effect on growth and yield of kailan, the composition of different planting media has no significant effect on growth and yield of kailan except on the large ratio of leaf (RLD) and wet weight on kailan plant. and there is no interaction between liquid organic fertilizer and plant media composition on growth and yield of kailan plants.

Abstract

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is a plant that has the potential to replace rice as a staple food. Efforts can be made to increase the yield of sweet potato production by fulfilling nutrients such as potassium fertilization, as well as turning the stems to prevent the production of tubers in each segment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of various doses of potassium fertilizer and time to turn the stems and their interactions on the growth and yield of sweet potato plants. This study used a randomized block design (RAK) with the first factor, namely the dose of potassium (KCl): 50 kg ha-1 (k1), 100 kg ha-1 (k2), and 150 kg ha-1 (k3). The second factor is the time of the stem reversal, namely: no reversal (po), 4 wap and 8 wap (p1), 8 mst and 12 wap (p2). The analysis of the observational data used ANOVA with the LSD further test with p <0.05. The results showed that various doses of potassium fertilizer had different effects on the growth of sweet potato plants. It is known that the KCl fertilizer dose of 50 kg ha-1 gives the best effect, namely giving the highest number of roots and the highest wet stubble weight. At the time of stem reversal, it was known that the reversal time of 4 WAP and 8 WAP had the best effect, namely increasing the highest dry weight, and there was no interaction between the dose of potassium fertilizer and the time of stem reversal on the growth and yield of sweet potato plants.

Abstract

Dragon fruit is one type of plant that is quite popular in Indonesia because of its sweet taste and high selling price. Dragon fruit has various types, including dragon fruit with red flesh, white flesh with yellow skin color and red skin with white flesh. Dragon fruit contains high betacharotene and antioxidants to prevent cancer and ward off free radicals. The fiber content in it can facilitate digestion, prevent colon cancer, and cope with diabetes. The objectives of this study were to determine effect of length stem cuttings on the growth of red dragon fruit cuttings, effect of different methods of giving between immersion and watering coconut water on the growth of dragon fruit cuttings, and interaction lengths cuttings and how to give coconut water to the growth of dragon fruit cuttings. The results showed that red dragon fruit stem lengths of 25 cm and 30 cm give better results than 15 cm and 20 cm. Dragon fruit stem lengths of 25 cm and 30 cm had a significant effect on bud emergence variables, number of shoots, average shoot length per cuttings and number of roots, but the root length variables, root wet weight and root shoot ratio were not significantly different. The method of giving coconut water shows that watering is better than soaking. but on the variable number of shoots per cuttings, the average length of shoots per cuttings, root wet weight and root crown ratio had no significant effect. There is no interaction between rod length and means giving coconut water to the growth of red dragon fruit cuttings on all observed variables.

Abstract

Increasing the number of ships that operate at a certain track is one way to support overall company’s performance. With the result business management should consider the balance of transportation service demand. Since the ship procurement was delayed and the long-distance ferry services adding up for Lombok, the feasibility profile need to be reconsidered. The case that one ship will be rejuvenated while the other ship already reaches the operational life. Besides, the increased demand on Lembar-Padangbai track is an opportunity to develop the company. Using 7 years of production historical data, technical data of 77.72 m of overall length roro vessel, the consumption cost, operational parameters, and also investment parameters, and 65.51 on load factors (LF), the study shows optimistic financial feasibility results. IRR value 15.97% and this value is higher than the Weighted average cost of capital (WACC) 9.83% and payback-period is 12 years for 20 years of operational life. Sensitivity analysis shows that the higher self-financing percentage gives a better financial feasibility value.
