Abstract

One of the efforts that became the target of development in the community by the Simpang Rimba district is chicken and duck farms. This is supported by the large availability of plants that will be used as animal feed such as cassava and taro stalk. However, currently the process of making animal feed is still done manually that is chopped by using a knife or a machete so that the time taken is long and the resulting capacity is limited. The purpose of science and technology for the community of chicken and duck breeders is to increase the production capacity of animal feed up to 100% and the uniformity of the cultivated product increases 100%. The method of implementation used in this service is to make a machine of cattle feed after doing a short training on the operation and maintenance of machinery to partners. Based on the results obtained the use of cassava chopper machine and taro stalk can increase the production process 40 kg within 30 minutes and the thickness of cassava size obtained an average of 2-7 mm so that the percentage of countable can be consumed 100% increase.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh fraksi serat filter rokok terhadap kekuatan tarik dan impak pada matrik polister. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan fraksi volume matriks dan serat 60% : 40%, 55% : 45%, 50% : 50%. Bahan yang digunakan serat filter rokok (selulosa astetat). Pengujian yang dilakukan adalah uji Tarik sesuai standart ASTM D-638, uji impak sesuai standar  ASTM D 256-00 dan hasil patahan rata-rata yang paling maksimal pada komposit berpenguat serat filter rokok dengan fraksi matriks dan serat 60% : 40%. Pada uji tarik didapatilah nilai 14,10 Mpa dan pada uji impak mendapatkan hasil 0.0139 (J/ mm²). Hal ini disebabkan karena campuran yang tercampur dengan sempurna dan menutup pori-pori pada serat sehingga membuat material menjadi lebih kuat. Sedangkan pada campuran matrik dan serat 50% : 50% pada pengujian tarik atau impak pendapat nilai paling kecil, yang diakibatkan oleh campuran yang tidak merata dan menyebabkan pori-pori serat tidak tercampur dengan baik.

Abstract

This Community Service activity in the business of making peanut crackers in MSME "SURTAM" aims to improve one of the existing production stages, namely the manufacture of coconut milk. The process of making coconut milk carried out by partners is still traditional which causes the energy used to be quite large and takes a long time. This causes the production of peanut brittle has not been maximized. The method used to solve production problems is to design and manufacture a coconut milk squeezer machine. After that, partners are given training on how to use and maintain the machine in order to carry out maximum production. The benefit of this activity is the synergy between universities and local industries related to the application of appropriate technology that can be used directly by MSME actors in their production activities. There is an increase in the production capacity of partners, especially at the stage of making coconut milk, where before community service activities, the time needed by partners to squeeze the grated 6 coconuts for approximately 1 hour, and after the activity becomes approximately 15 minutes. In addition, partners already have the knowledge and skills in operating and caring for coconut milk extortion machines used in the peanut butter production process.

Abstract

Tanjung Ketapang Village is a centre for making shrimp paste in the South Bangka Regency. Shrimp paste is one of  the superior regional products with quality to be developed to compete in the global market. The stages of processing shrimp paste are drying, mixing salt and then fermentation, pounding shrimp, drying shrimp paste, pounding shrimp paste dough, and molding shrimp paste. The production stages are still carried out traditionally with manual equipment, which requires more energy and time and is less hygienic. The problems faced by the two partners are the production process which is still traditional and manual from beginning to the end of product processing, and conventional marketing systems. Based on problem,s analysis, data were obtained from the technical specifications of the machines needed by partners, namely mixing machines, grinding machines, and shrimp paste drying ovens. The implementation methods applied are identification of partner problems, machine design, machine manufacture and assembly, function testing, training on how to operate and maintain machines marketing management training, and mentoring for both partners. After the implementation of the partner's production process, namely an increase in the production capacity of shrimp paste for the two partners, it was twice as much as the previous production and online marketing media.

Abstract

Peyek is one of the typical Javanese snacks made from rice flour dough made from peanuts and other ingredients. The results of a survey that was carried out at Mr. Cahyo's residence were slicing 3 kg of peanuts per three days which was carried out with two slicing processes to obtain small slices. The obstacle faced by Mr. Cahyo is the slicing of peanuts which still uses manual tools from wood, where on the big day Mr. Cahyo requires 100 kg of peanuts to be sliced, so it takes a lot of time to finish. The purpose of the design of this peanut slicing machine is to produce thick slices with a size of 3-5 mm in one slicing process. The stages of implementing this final project consist of stages of data collection, planning, calculation analysis, manufacturing process, assembly process, and conducting trials. The result of the design of this machine is that the dimensions of the machine are 300×300×405 mm, and from the trial of this peanut slicing machine, the results are 3-5 mm thick slices, and the data obtained for slicing 500 grams of peanuts takes about 1 minute.

Abstract

The need for feed is very important for breeder, especially for chicken and catfish breeders in Indonesia with rapid development, for example breeders in Bangka Belitung to be precise in Sempan village. The high price of feed makes breeders process their own feed simply. In processing, breeders mice and mix the raw materials manually by hand and then ferment then overnight. From these problems, breeders need a machine that can refine feed raw material into one form of feed that is easily digested for livestock, such as pellets. Currently the processing of feed in the form of pellets can be used as an option. Therefore , a design and manufacture of a pellet molding machine was made for chicken and catfish feed with capacity of 10 kg/hour. The design method used in completing this final project is Verein Deutsche Ingineuer (VDI 2222) where this method is planned so that the actions taken are more directed and achieve the expected targets. Based on results of this design, a pellet molding machine design for chicken and catfish feed was obtained using electric motor with a power of 0.5 HP and rotation speed 1400 rpm with pulley and v-belt transmission and horizontal engine system using a screw as suppressor. From the trial results, the machine was able to print pellets with a diameter of 3 mm and 5 mm with capacity of 10 kg/hour.

Abstract

In the welding process, the swing of the electrode is very influential on the mechanical properties of the weld. The purpose of this study was to determine the hardness value in the HAZ area of ​​AISI 1045 steel due to differences in SMAW welding electrode swing. The method in this study uses experimental research methods, namely describing comparisons of treated specimens using the help of the Microsoft Excel application. The material used in this study was AISI 1045 medium carbon steel which was welded using SMAW welding with variations of zig-zag, circular and C swing electrodes with 1G position. The results of this study prove that the electrode swing has a significant effect on the hardness value. It can be seen that the test material with a circular swing pattern has a higher value than the zigzag and C swing patterns. This is shown by testing the hardness test in the HAZ area where the circular swing pattern gets average. -the highest average hardness value is 23.47 HRC. Meanwhile, the lowest average hardness value is in the C swing pattern of 20.46 HRC. Electrode swing has an influence on the hardness value. The circular swing pattern has a higher value than the zigzag and C swing patterns.

Abstract

The sprocket gears is one part of motorcycle that functions as a power transfer transmission. The service of gears can be influenced by several aspect, one of which is the hardness of sprocket gears. The hardness of the sprocket gear material can be increased by various mathod, one of which is heat treatment. This study used an experimental method with the aim of knowing the effect of bio diesel as the main cooling medium on increasing the hardness of non-original sprocket gears. The research process included carburizing and hardening processes on 2 non-original brands at temperature of 910°C and then cooled using bio diesel and water cooling media with a holding time of 30 minute and 60 minutes. The results showed that the heat treatment process could increase the hardness of brand A with a normal hardness of 104 HB resulting in the highest value in the parameter holding time of 60 minute and water cooling medium with a hardness value of 111,6 HB and brand B of normal hardness with a value of 110,8 HB producing the highest value is the holding time parameter of 60 minutes and water cooling medium with a hardness value of 115,9 HB. Based on the result obtained, water cooling medium is higher than bio diesel cooling medium.

Abstract

Utilization of fly ash (fly ash) as an additive in the formation of lightweight bricks has a positive impact from an environmental point of view. Fly ash is a very fine residue from burning coal. The fineness of fly ash grains can potentially cause air pollution. Handling of fly ash (fly ash) at this time is still limited to stockpiling on vacant land. The addition of fly ash to the lightweight brick mixture can be a good mineral additive for lightweight bricks because the fly ash contains silica, which is binding. In this study, we will identify the benefits of fly ash (fly ash) as a partial replacement material for the use of cement in lightweight bricks. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding fly ash as a partial replacement for cement on the density and compressive strength of lightweight bricks. Variations in the percentage of fly ash used are 15%, 25%, and 35%. This study used six beam-shaped test samples, with each sample being replicated three times with a mold size of 100 mm x 50 mm x 50 mm. From this study, it was found that the best density value was when using 25% fly ash, which was 1482.4 kg/m3 with the highest compressive strength value of 17.7 MPa. It can be concluded that the percentage of fly ash used affects the density of lightweight bricks. The use of 25% fly ash on lightweight bricks produces lightweight bricks with maximum compressive strength.

Abstract

Nipa plant is a plant that can be found in water areas such as in swamps. Quite a lot that can be utilized from this swamp plant. Utilization of the nipa plant can be sourced from its fruit, midrib, and leaf bones [1]. In addition to the uses previously described, the nipa plant in its midrib has fiber which has been extensively researched on this fiber. Nipa midribs which have fibers can be used as reinforcement for fiber composites. This study aims to determine the effect of arrangement and volume fraction of fibers that have been determined, as well as knowing whether the use of nipa midrib fiber as a composite reinforcement material can or cannot achieve the tensile strength value of the high impact ABS plastic material on the car dashboards. The research method in this study uses factorial design with manual composite printing. The results of this study were that the highest value of the tensile strength of the nipa midrib fiber composite was found in the vertical arrangement direction with a volume fraction 15%, namely 26.43 MPa, while the lowest value is found in the direction of horizontal arrangement with a volume fraction of 15%, namely 14.07 MPa. So that the value of the nipa midrib fiber composite in the vertical arrangement direction with a volume fraction of 15% achieves the tensile strength value of the high impact ABS plastic material on the car dashboards, namely 20 – 40 MPa.
