Abstract

The title of this research is “Teaching Writing Descriptive text  Using Picture and Picture Method through Padlet App”. The objectives of this research are to identify the  implementation of teaching writing Descriptive text  using Picture and Picture method through Padlet app and  to identify students’ and teacher’s obstacles in online learning. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was the tenth-grade students of one senior high school in Cimahi. Observation, questionnaire and  interview were used to collect the data. The result of the research indicated that the implementation of these method and media received positive response from the teacher and students in controlling students’ activities, make students confortable  take part in online learning, and meaningful. The students’ difficulties in writing using Picture and Picture method through Padlet are in applying language features and mechanics, require a lot of internet quota, difficult to focus, and a lot of plagiarism actions. The obstacles faced by the teacher in teaching online are related to technical issues such as students do not have devices and unstable student internet connection, teacher does not master technology, and difficulty in motivating students. Keywords:  Writing, Descriptive Text, Picture and Picture, Padlet

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to understand the scenario and implementation of learning to read Narrative Text. using Steller through Signal Group, to find out teacher and student responses, as well as teacher and student barriers to the implementation of teaching scenarios during online learning during the covid pandemic. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The participants in this study were students of class X in one of the Vocational Schools in Cimahi and an English teacher. The instruments in this study were questionnaires, observation sheets, teacher field notes, and tests. Based on research in the field, data obtained that the scenario and implementation of the teaching scenario went well and also received positive responses from both students and teachers. The difficulty experienced by most students is understanding the purpose of the text and looking for references. Another obstacle faced by teachers was technical problems with the Steller application, while student barriers were prerequisite skills 61.33%, time/interruption 70%, motivation 71.7%, technical 76.8% and social 83.7% which showed that all the obstacles faced by most of the students are not too annoying but the unstable internet connection and storage space of the device. Thus, the writers conclude that the use of Steller in this study can help the implementation of learning to write Narrative Text. In addition, teachers can also create appropriate learning media on the Steller teacher story page, especially for teaching reading Narrative Text. However, the teacher must estimate the obstacles that may occur during the activity, especially for technical problems that may occur. Keywords:  Reading, Narrative Text,, Steller, Signal Group

Abstract

Children interact with other children, their parents, and other adults as they acquire language. A child can readily acquire two or more languages at once as long as they are conversing with speakers of those languages on a regular basis.. The purpose of this study is to investigate the connection between the use of offline games and young students' self-esteem in speaking English. The researchers' interpretation of the children's written material served as the foundation for the majority of this study's conclusions. In terms of enhancing self-esteem, the data analysis showed numerous evident benefits for all students. The students were free to exercise their independence and display qualities about themselves. ESL students had the same opportunity to compete with their classmates for the limited time that they took part in these activities. This study used a qualitative approach and conducted a pilot test on pre-school students. This research was conducted at Learning Tots Kindergarten located on Sri pohaci Street, Bandung, Indonesia. The study was conducted on 19 students of Learning Tots Kindergarten. The students were given time to play for 30-60 minutes every day for 2 weeks. The games included matching, bingo, and charades. The study was distinctive in that the students produced written summaries of the game events. The basis of this study's data gathering is qualitative information obtained from observations and conducted interviews. This research was conducted using qualitative methods. Where data analysis is based on interviews with research subjects regarding the impression they feel after playing the game. Furthermore, the researcher also saw and analyzed the students' behavior through observation techniques

Abstract

Slang word is an informal words, phrases, and expressions that often used between people who already close to each other. Slang words often used in daily conversation in a group of people or in literary work such as book, movies, or song. In this research, the researcher attempt to analyze slang words that used in a song. Lowkey by Niki is chosen as a subject of the research. Descriptive qualitative was used in this research.The result of the research shown that there are 22 slang words found in the lyric. From 22 slang words, 4 words are considered as fresh and creative type, 7 words are categorized as flippant, 4 words are imitative type, and 7 words are classified as clipping.
