Abstract

As the amount of online information increases, systems that can automatically summarize text in a document become increasingly desirable. The main goal of a text summarization is to present the main ideas in a document in less space. In the create text summarization, there are two procedures which are extraction and abstraction procedure. One of extraction procedure is using keyword extraction algorithm which is easier and common but has problems in the lack of cohesion or correlation between sentences. The cohesion between sentences can be applied by using a cosine similarity method. In this study, a hybrid keyword extraction algorithm and cosine similarity for improving sentences cohesion in text summarization has been proposed. The proposed method using compression various compression ratios is used to create candidate of the summary. The result show that proposed method could affect significant increasing cohesion degree after evaluated in the t-Test. The result also shows that 50% compression ratio obtains the best result with Recall, Precision, and F-Measure are 0.761, 0.43 and 0.54 respectively; since summary with compression ratio 50% has higher intersection with human summary than another compression ratio. Keywords: text summarization, keyword extraction, cosine similarity, cohesion

Abstract

Park and ride parking facilities support a Transjakarta bus and made for the purpose of attracting the interest of private vehicle users in order to switch to mass transit so as to reduce the use of private vehicles in the city. Satisfaction of the users is a measure of the viability and success of the park and ride which was created and is run by the Jakarta administration. The purpose of this study was to describe the customer satisfaction with park and ride facilities provided by the Jakarta administration as supporting public transportation in Jakarta. This research approach using quantitative methods with methods of data collection by spreading the questionnaire to the park and ride and a short interview. Results from the study indicate the user has been satisfied with the facilities and services provided though there are still some supporting facilities need to be improved.

Abstract

This study presents a comparative structural analysis of two renowned poems, “She Walks in Beauty" by G.G. Byron and "The More Loving One" by W.H. Auden, which are widely regarded as some of their finest works. The objective is to identify the similarities and differences between these poems, which originate from distinct poetic eras: Byron’s work represents the Romantic era of the late 18th century, while Auden’s belongs to the Modern era of the early 20th century. To facilitate the comparison, the analysis focuses on three key structural elements of poetry: theme, figures of speech, and imagery. The findings reveal both similarities and differences between the two poems. Shared elements include a focus on love as the central theme, the use of metaphor, personification, and hyperbole in figures of speech, and the incorporation of visual and organic imagery. However, the differences lie in how the theme of love is portrayed. Byron’s poem celebrates the beauty of a woman, while Auden’s reflects the fear of losing a loved one. Additional differences are evident in figures of speech and imagery; Byron employs simile and kinesthetic imagery, which are absent in Auden’s poem. This comparative analysis underscores the influence of distinct poetic eras on these two iconic works’ structural and thematic elements.

Abstract

The efficiency of facility placement in the workspace is a crucial factor in improving operational performance and service quality. This research was conducted at the Pangkalan Sub Branch Office (KCP) of PT. Pos Indonesia which faced obstacles in form of non oftimal facility layout. In the porpose of doing research using the ARC (Activity Relationship Chart) methods is to analyze and re-evaluate the layout of facilities. The methods used area qualitative in nature and include observation, documentations, interviews. The results of the analysis show that a number of facilities such as data cabinets and equipment cabinets have not been organized according to the degree of proximity, which cuases an increase in movement time and a decrease in work efficiency. Proposed improvements in the form of a new layout design are organized based on activity linkages, with the hope of increasing space efficiency and overall work productivity.

Abstract

The Real Work Lecture (KKN) is an intracurricular activity aimed at empowering communities through various service activities, such as counseling and training. In 2024, the KKN PMD program of Mataram University was conducted in Akar-Akar Village, North Lombok Regency, focusing on improving community livelihoods through dryland management. The village has significant agricultural potential but faces various challenges, including reliance on monoculture corn farming, limited understanding of sustainable land management, and restricted access to agricultural technology. The goal of this KKN program is to address these issues through counseling and the implementation of agroforestry systems. The activity methods included obtaining permits, problem identification, community counseling, and the development of agroforestry systems in demonstration plots. The results showed that the counseling successfully increased community understanding of crop diversification and the benefits of agroforestry. The implementation of agroforestry by planting high-value crops such as crystal guava and longan proved effective in enhancing land productivity and maintaining environmental sustainability. In conclusion, this KKN program successfully provided initial solutions to improve farmers' welfare and agricultural sustainability in Akar-Akar Village.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dominance of the Batak ethnic group in bachelor's degree graduation rates in Indonesia through a case study at the Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU), using a cross-cultural communication perspective and social identity theory. This phenomenon raises questions about the communication and cultural factors that support the academic success of Batak students in a multicultural campus environment. The research methodology employs a qualitative-descriptive approach, utilizing literature review and secondary data analysis from the Central Statistics Agency, as well as an examination of intercultural communication based on the theories of Liliweri, Tajfel, and Habermas. The research findings indicate that Batak cultural values such as hagabeon, hamoraon, and hasangapon contribute to strengthening academic motivation, while assertive and open communication styles enable Batak students to excel in building academic relationships and adapting to campus culture. The study also identifies the potential for social exclusion of other ethnic groups if cross-cultural communication is not managed inclusively. These findings offer theoretical contributions regarding the relationship between cross-cultural communication and academic performance, and emphasize the importance of adaptive intercultural communication strategies in creating an equitable academic environment. The recommendations include strengthening cross-cultural communication training programs and facilitating ethnic integration in the campus environment as a form of social reconciliation in higher education.
