Abstract

Kampung chicken is a local Indonesian chicken that comes from red jungle chicken that has been successfully domesticated but has a low productivity. One of method to increase the productivity can be done by crossing a local chicken with a broiler. This research was conducted to examine the growth performance of crossing result G3 interse (pelung, sentul, kampung, broiler) age 1-12 weeks. IPB D-1 G3 chicken measured in this research were 76 DOC, 18 cocks, and 30 hens. T test was used to knowing the differences of body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion. Based on the research, body weight, growth, and feed conversion of male IPB D-1 chickens was better than female IPB D-1 chickens when 12 weeks age. Body weight of a cock IPB D-1 G4 in 12 week was 1939.9 g and for a hen was 994.9 g. Feed consumption of rooster IPB D-1 G4 3 468.97 g and 3 339.80 in females with fluctuating body weight growth. Chicken feed conversion IPB D-1 lowest G4 1.579 and 6.430 with the highest. Coefficient of variation on all variables IPB D-1 G4 was high. Performance growth of IPB D-1 G4 still diverse.

Abstract

Kampung chicken is Indonesian native chickens that has slow growth. One way to increase growth is crossing. Pelung-sentul-kampung-meat type chicken (IPB D-1) is a chicken from crossing between F1 pelung-sentul (PS) male and kampung-meat type chicken strain cobb (KM) female to produce chicken that has fastly growth and big body size. Factors that need to be examined to find out the bone growth and body structure of chicken is the body size. The aim of the research was to asses body size chicken IPB D-1 generation G4 crosing results with interse at age 2 until 12 weeks. The number of chickens used 33 males and 38 females. The Variables measured every 2 weeks were body weight, shank length, shank circumference, tibia length, femur length, back length, chest circumference, chest width, chest depth, and chest length. Research data were analyzed descriptive. IPB D-1 chicken G5 have a coefficient of diversity 5% to 15% on each variable observed. The fifth generation of IPB D-1 chicken (G5) have  a variation body size. Chest length is the best variable to predict the body weight.

Abstract

Broiler developed to produce meat in a fast manner. Generally, broiler reared by intensive system. Rearing system can be split into two kinds, intensive and free-range rearing system. The aim of this research was assessing the morphometric size of male and female broiler which are raised under intensive and free-range systems. Rearing systems was not have influence on the morphometric size of the chicken except in the length of the tibia, femur, and wing on the third week. Sex have real impact on the length of shank, tibia, wings, femur, and chest circumference, and also significantly affect the width and depth of the chest, neck, and spine lenght in fifth week. Rearing systems both intensive and free-range produced same frame size on broiler chicken.

Abstract

The egg production of local chiken can be increased by crossing of arab and merawang chicken. This study aimed to observed egg production performances of crossing between merawang x merawangarab (M-MA), merawangarab x merawang (MA-M), merawangarab x merawangarab (MA-MA), arabmerawang x arabmerawang (AM-AM), merawangarab x arab (MA-A), and arab x merawangarab (A-MA). Parameters in this study were egg weight, egg shape index, hen day production and feed conversion. The result showed that the egg weight of MA-M chicken was significantly greater (P<0.05). than M-MA, MA-MA, AM-AM, MA-A, and A-MA chicken. The MA-A egg index was significantly larger (P<0.05) than other crossing. Hen day production of M-MA chicken was significantly greater (P<0.05) and feed convertion was significantly efficient (P<0.05) than other crossing. MA hens had better production than other hens.

Abstract

IPB-D1 is a chicken cross between male F1 PS (PelungxSentul) with F1 female (Kampung x parent stock cobb). The establishment of chicken IPB-D1 aims to produce commercial meat type local chicken with semi-intensive maintenance management. The aim of this research to observe study assesses the performance of egg production and the quality of IPB D-1 chicken eggs and estimates the value of repeatability of production and haugh units of IPB D-1 chicken eggs. The chicken was observed as many as 30 hens IPB D-1 G7 aged 24-36 weeks and eggs as many as 288 eggs. The production and egg quality data were analyzed descriptively and the repeatability values were analyzed with Anova. Egg weight 40 g, Haugh unit value 87 (Very good), egg production 49.22%. The repeatability value of egg production is 0.2 (Moderate) and the repeatability value of the haugh unit is 0.31 (Medium). IPB D-1 Chicken has the potential to be a good dual-purpose chicken.

Abstract

Cattle coat color is governed by numerous genes, notably the tyrosinase gene (TYR). This study analyzed coat color anomalies like albinism and white spotting in Bali cattle. It aims to discern the TYR gene's diversity, expression patterns, and correlation with coat color abnormalities. The research encompassed 189 cattle, including those with standard coat color (n=53), white-spotted (n=11), and albino (n=17) Bali cattle, as well as Simmental (n=37), Limousin (n=14), Madura (n=21), and Peran-akan Ongole (PO) cattle (n=36). Total DNA was extracted and the TYR gene in exon 1 was amplified using forward and reverse primers with a target amplicon length of 994 bp. Direct sequencing unveiled TYR gene diversity, analyzed using BioEdit and MEGA6 software to identify SNPs. PCR-RFLP was used for SNP genotyping, while qPCR analyzed TYR gene expression. Two mutations (SNP g. 939A>G and SNP g. 887C>T) were discovered in Bali cattle TYR exon 1. SNP g. 939A>G exhibited polymorphism, with the highest GG genotype frequency in standard Bali cattle, indicating a high G allele frequency. Conversely, Madura, Simmental, Limousin, and PO cattle had the lowest allele fre-quency. Chi-square (χ² test) results showed non-significance across all cattle types. TYR gene expres-sion differed significantly between standard Bali cattle and albinos (p<0.05).
