Abstract

This article examines the shift in the meaning of religious texts that transform from exclusive to inclusive in the book Abyan al-Hawāij by K.H. Ahmad Rifa’i. This reinterpretation of the text is given that the conflicts that occurred between the Rifa’iyah group and non-Rifa’iyah residents were mostly caused by the Rifa’iyah group’s textual reading of religious texts that were exclusive. This article reviews exclusive religious texts by showing their historicity (historical function), meaning development (meaning function), and implicative function (implicative function) in order to show a more proportional new meaning. The approach used in this study is hermeneutics of Gracia, critical discourse analysis of Fairclough, and intertextual of Kristeva. The analysis is focused on looking back at the structure of the text (textual analysis), the discourse built by the author (discursive analysis), and the socio-cultural practices surrounding the text. Hermeneutically, the text is then seen in terms of its historical function, the function of developing its meaning, and the function of its implications within the framework of the cultural function of the text. The results of the research show that the exclusive religious text in Abyan al-Hawāij is an oppositional and confrontational text built by the author as a response to the Dutch colonial socio-cultural and political realities in the archipelago at that time. Therefore, reading these texts must also see the discourse of the text. These texts actually have many meanings (multi-vocality). In principle, these meanings are equally acceptable in line with their respective discourses. Reading the exclusive text in Abyan al-Hawāij in the current era of religious tolerance and harmony requires understanding the historicity of the text so as not to get stuck in an exclusive understanding of religion.

Abstract

The sun's shadow and the Qibla azimuth are two techniques for figuring out the Qibla direction. To obtain Qibla direction accuracy while applied to traditional instruments with low accuracy, such istiwa'ayn, the user's accuracy is required. Slamet Hambali's theory of a process angle was inspired by this issue. The effective angle disparity formula, which is based on Slamet Hambali's concept, is discussed in this article along with how it can be used to get effective azimuth variance. This article is based on numerically-based quantitative research using library data. The aim is to comprehend the concept of various effective azimuths and how they are used to identify the direction of the Qibla. This article comes to the conclusion that Slamet Hambali's formula for the effective azimuth difference tends to make use of the idea of processing angle by calculating the azimuth difference value with particular aiming hours, azimuth difference value, and processing angle to produce a shooting clock with a different azimuth valuation.Kata kunci : azimut, efektif, jam bidik

Abstract

This research will trace the process of transmission of falak science in Java from its inception to its current development: the geneology and the process of transmitting astronomy and developed pattern in Java. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with a historical approach. The steps taken are collecting data from the object under study (heuristic), verifying or criticizing the source, and making conclusions and interpreting existing authentic data. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis. The results showed that at the beginning of its development, the science of astronomy was studied and developed by Syekh Abdurrahman bin Ahmad al-Mishri al-Batawi who was then taught to Habib Usman al-Batawi, Sheikh Abdul Hamid al-Dumairi al-Batawi, and KH. Ahmad Dahlan as-Samarani. From here the science of astronomy developed and gave birth to a number of works including Tadzkirah al-Ikhwan, and Bulugh al-Wathar. The development of astronomy is then carried out through educational institutions both formal and informal. For formal education through tertiary institutions and informal through Islamic boarding schools.
