Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of storage time at 4℃ refrigerator temperature on degrees of acidity and reductase score in pasteurized Ettawa goat milk and to determine the optimum storage time for pasteurized goat milk. This research was conducted in March--April 2020, at the Livestock Production Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The research material used was 6 liters of Ettawa Grade goat milk. This study used a completely randomized design, with 5 treatments and 4 replications, namely Pasteurized goat's milk stored for 0 days (P0), Pasteurized goat's milk was stored for 6 days (P1), Pasteurized goat's milk stored for 12 days (P2), Pasteurized goat's milk stored for 18 days (P3), and pasteurized goat milk stored for 24 days (P4). The variables observed were the degree of acidity, the amount of reductase, and the optimum storage time. The data obtained were then analyzed for variance / Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the 5% significance level and continued with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The results showed that pasteurized Ettawa goat's milk with a storage time of 24 days at 4℃ refrigerator temperature had no significant effect on the degrees of acidity, but had a significant effect on the methylene blue reductase test. The conclusion of this research is that the storage time of Pasteurized goat's milk for 12 days at 4℃ temperature is the optimum storage time to maintain the quality of milk with degrees of acidity of 7.5°SH and a reductase score for 8 hours. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the physical quality of Ettawa Grade (PE) goat milk at various lactation periods in East Metro District, Metro City, Lampung Province, and to determine whether the quality of PE goat milk was in accordance with the standards set out in SNI No 01-3141-1998. This research was conducted on September 16, 2019, at the farm owned by Mr. Setiono Heri Winarko on Jalan Sepat, Yosodadi, East Metro District, Metro City, Lampung Province. Physical quality testing of PE goat milk was carried out at the Animal Production and Reproduction Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The research was conducted using a case study method. Data collected was using primary and secondary data. The variables observed included the organoleptic tests, which were color, aroma, taste, and acceptability test of PE goat's milk; and physical tests including specific gravity, boiling test, alcohol test for the acidity (pH) of PE goat milk. The results of the research on the lactation color test 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 3.53, 3.53, 3.22, 3.12, respectively. Aroma test results were 3.56, 3.70, 3.54, and 3.40 for lactation 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. The taste tests for lactation 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 3.50, 3.78, 3.54, and 3.45, respectively. The acceptance test result were 3.50, 3.86, 3.72, and 3.63 for lactation 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. Density test of milk for lactation 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 1.028; 1.030; 1.036; 1.033. In the boiling test and lactation alcohol 1-4, there was no clod (-), and the pH test was 6.39, 6.62, 6.60, and 6.57 in lactation 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. It can be concluded that the results of the above studies have met the standards set out in SNI No 01-3141-1998. Keywords: Etawa crossbreed goat, Lactation period, Physical characteristics

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim to compare weaning weight, yearling weights, post weaning weight gain up to one year of age and average daily gain (ADG) from weaning to one year of age of Brahman Cross cattle between in Wawasan and in Purwodadi Dalam Villages, Tanjungsari District, Lampung Selatan Regency. The study was conducted in August 2020 in Wawasan Village and Purwodadi Dalam Village, Tanjungsari District, Lampung Selatan Regency, Lampung Province. The data used were secondary data taken from the records of 30 Brahman Cross cattle from each village. A Survey method was used in this research. The sampling was done by using purposive sampling. The variables observed included recording calves birth date, birth weight, weaning date, calf weaning weight, weaning age, and yearling weight. The results of this study indicated that the weaning weight in Wawasan Village (167,39±40,59 kg) and in Purwodadi Dalam Village (161,12±33,39 kg) was not different significantly (P>0.05). Yearling weight of cattle in Wawasan Village (217,41±41,68 kg) and in Purwodadi Dalam Village (202,62±33,86 kg) was not significantly different (P>0.05). Post weaning weight gain to one year of age in Wawasan Village (49,86±15,05 kg) and in Purwodadi Dalam Village (41,49±9,97 kg) was significantly different (P<0.05). Average daily gain from weaning to one year of age in Wawasan Village which reached 0.31±0.09 kg and in Purwodadi Dalam Village which reached 0.26 ± 0.06 kg was significantly different (P<0.05).
