Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine effect of Eucheuma cottonii seaweed substitution in elephant grass on in vitro individual VFA and methane gas production estimation. This in vitro research was conducted in Laboratory of Nutrition of Indonesia Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Ciawi, Bogor from October to November 2018. This research used Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments wereP0 = Elephant Grass 100%; P1 = Elephant Grass 96% + E. cottonii 4%; P2 = Elephant Grass 92% + E. cottonii 8%; dan P3 = Elephant Grass 88% + E. cottonii 12%.The data obtained were analyzed using covariance and continued with the Least Significance Difference (LSD) test. The results showed that Eucheuma cottonii seaweed substitution level in elephant grass has highly significant effect (P<0,01) on total VFA, acetate, propionate, butyrate acid proportion and methane gas production estimation. Moreover, there is the best level of Eucheuma cottonii seaweed in decreasing methane gas production estimation on 4% level with producing 18,49 mM of methane gas although total VFA (58,05mM) and individual VFA are also decreasing both of acetate acid 38,02 mM, propionate acid 11,33 mM, and butyrate acid 4,61 mM. Abstract

This research aims to know the influence of various media to grow toward moisture content, protein and fat maggot as feed and knowing the kind of media to grow the best influence on moisture content, protein and fat maggot as feed. This research was conducted in April 2017 until May 2017 in the Laboratory of Airy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Proksimat analysis was performed in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Food for Livestock, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of agriculture, University of Lampung. This study uses treatment of various places growing i.e. R1 (tofu waste), R2 (for cake oil palm), R3 (fish waste), and R4 (chicken blood). The experimental design was used, namely a complete Random Design (RAL) consists of four treatments and five replicates. Variables in this study i.e., moisture, protein, and fat maggot generated. Results of the study showed that treatment effect was not real (P>0.05) to moisture content, but very real effect (P<0.01) to the fat and protein content of maggot. The best media to grow maggot found in media of the chicken blood to the protein content and the media to grow of the fat content was fish waste. Keywords: maggot, media to grow, nutrition maggot

Abstract

The aim of research to know the effect of cutting age on moisture, ash, and crude fat of Indigofera zollingeriana. The study was done based on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments in this study were : 1) U40 (40 days of cutting age), 2) U50 (50 days of cutting age), and 3) U60 (60 days of cutting age). Indigofera zollingeriana being cuts for the first time at 1 m height from the ground surface and plots of land measuring 3 x 3 m2 and is harvested at a different age. The results showed that the effect of cutting age significantly (P < 0.01) affect moisture, ash, and crude fat of Indigofera zollingeriana. Moisture content of Indigofera zollingeriana with cutting age of 40, 50, and 60 days were 82,37%, 81,28 %, and 77,54% respectively. Ash content of Indigofera zollingeriana with cutting age of 40, 50, and 60 days were 9,72%, 10,51%, and 11,57% respectively. Crude fat content of Indigofera zollingeriana with cutting age of 40, 50, and 60 days were 6,85%, 7,51%, and 10,86% respectively. Abstract

Crude protein content of Indigofera zollingeriana with cutting age of 40, 50, and 60 days were 24,76%, 26,00% and 27,03% respectively and crude fiber content of Indigofera zollingeriana with cutting age of 40, 50, and 60 days were 20,72%, 23,08%, and 25,41% respectively. Abstract

The objectives of this research were to determine: 1) the effect of cassava leaves silage addition in feed based on palm oil waste to digestibility of crude fiber and crude protein; 2) the effect of cassava leave silages and micro organic mineral addition in feed based on palm oil waste to digestibility of crude fiber and crude protein. The research was conducted in Mei—July 2016 in the Cattle and Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed Livestock, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Treatment used are R0 control diet, R1 addition of 10% cassava leaves silage, R2 addition of 10% of cassava leaves silage and micro organic mineral (Zn 40 ppm, Cu 10 ppm, Se 0,10 ppm, Cr 0,30 ppm). Data were analyzed by Analysis of Varians and continued with Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) 0.05 and 0.01. The result showed that the addition of 10% cassava leaves silage in feed based on palm oil waste no giving a significant result (P<0.05) to digestibility of crude fiber, where as significant effect on crude protein. The addition of 10% cassava leaves silage and micro organic mineral in feed based on palm oil waste also giving a significant result (P<0.05) to digestibility of crude fiber and crude protein. Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of adding multi nutrient sauce to rations on the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in sheep. This research was conducted in May--July 2019 in Kebagusan Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency. Analysis of feed ingredients and feces was carried out at the Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This research was conducted experimentally using the Randomized Block Design (RBD) method. Sheep were divided into six groups based on body weight, namely group 1 (11,18--13,18 kg), group 2 (13,97--14,13 kg), group 3 (14,31--14,51 kg), group 4 (14,89--15,91 kg), group 5 (16,35--16,66 kg), and group 6 (17,15--17,77 kg). Each group consisted of 3 sheep. Treatment given were R0: basal ration formulated by farmer (forage silage + cassava byproduct), R1: R0 + 5% multi nutrient sauce, R2: R0 + 10% multi nutrient sauce. The results showed that the addition of 10% multi nutrient sauce was the best treatment that could improve the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in sheep. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of addition of Multinutrient Sauce (MNS) in the ration on digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber in sheep. This research was conducted in May—July 2019 at the People's Farm of Kebagusan Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency. The digestibility analysis of crude protein and crude fiber was carried out at the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Animal Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) based on sheep body weight with six groups and three treatments, namely R0 (ration without MNS); R1 (R0 + MNS 5%); and R2 (R0 + MNS 10%). The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level or 1% significance, and continued with further test using Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) if there is significant results. The results showed that the addition of 10% MNS in the ration had a significant effect (P<0.05) on increasing the digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber in sheep. Abstract

The research that aimed to find out the level of substitution of corn crop silage with sorghum silage as a future feed ingredient on the fiber and protein digestibility of beef cattle has been held in May -- July 2018 in the people's farm in Negla Sari village, South Lampung Regency, Lampung. This study used Completely Randomized Design with three treatments and three replications. The treatments given were R1: 30% corn crop silage + 70% concentrate; R2: 15% corn crop silage + 15% sorghum silage + 70% concentrate; and R3: 30% sorghum silage + 70% concentrate. This research used nine beef cattle which were allocated in individual cages. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of covariance using a 5% significance level. Variables in this study were fiber and protein digestibility. The results showed that substitution of the use of corn crop silage with sorghum silage did not significantly affect (P>0.05) on the fiber and protein digestibility. Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of fermentation and ammoniation treatment of cassava peels on ration on dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility (OMD) in male sheeps. This research was conducted in May--June 2019 in the cage unit and the Laboratory of Nutrition and Animal Feed, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The experimental design applied was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The experimental unit used were 9 sheeps. The treatments given were ration+15% cassava peels without treatment (R0), ration+15% fermented cassava peels (R1), and ration+15% ammoniated cassava peels (R2). The results showed that the use of cassava peel fermentation and ammoniation treatment had a significant effect (P<0.05) on dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility in male sheep. The average of total digestibility of dry matter and organic matter of ration showed an increase of digestibility. The treatment of fermentation and ammoniation gave the best effect when compared to that without processing. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of cage microclimate manipulation with misting on physiological responses and heat resistance of goats (Sapera and Ettawa Grade). This research was conducted in April - May 2020 at Telaga Rizki People's Farm, Metro City, Lampung Province. This study used an experimental method, Split Plot design with a completely randomized design (CRD). This study used two treatments, namely modification of the pen consisting of pens without misting (K0) and pens with misting (K1) and two breed of goats, namely Sapera and Ettawa Grade (PE) goats. Each treatment was carried out 3 times. Goats as subplots and microclimate modification of the pen as the main plot. In this study, twelve female goats were used, namely 6 Sapera goats and 6 Ettawa Grade (PE) goats aged 2-3 years. The parameters observed were microclimate condition, namely air temperature, relative humidity (RH), and Temperature Humidity Index (THI), and physiological responses including rectal temperature, respiration frequency, heart rate frequency, and heat tolerance (HTC). The results of the research showed that there was significant effect (P<0.05) of treatments on RH and THI. The resilts also showed that there was no significant effect (P>0.05) of treatments on rectal temperature, heart rate, respiration frequency, HTC and environment temperature.
