Learning mathematics in elementary school is expected to adjust to the cognitive development of students. Abstract mathematical concepts make students need help to understand them. This study aims to develop mathematics learning media geometry for 4th grade elementary school students. This development research uses the Borg & Gall research model which was carried out to the seventh stage, namely research and information collecting, planning, developing preliminary form a product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, and operational product revision. Product trials were conducted at Ngablak Public Elementary School. Data collection instruments were using a questionnaire. The questionnaire used to assess the appropriateness of the media was an expert validation assessment sheet, while the teachers? assessment sheet and students? response questionnaire were used to determine the practicality of the product. The validation results from the experts obtained that the Magic Geometry media was declared very appropriate to be used in learning mathematics with an average score of 4.45. The results of the teacher practicality assessment were stated to be very practical with a score of 4.9 and the student?s response questionnaire received an average score of 4.2 with a practical category. The results of the student response questionnaire also showed that Magic Geometry made learning becomes more interesting and materials easier to understand.

The goal of this study was to help fourth-grade children improve their critical thinking skills. This is a Classroom Action Research project. The study was divided into two cycles, each of which included planning, action, observation, and reflection. Muhammadiyah Notoprajan Elementary School fourth grade pupils were used as research subjects. The ability to think critically in mathematics is the focus of this study. The test was utilized as a means of gathering information. The descriptive analysis was employed in the data analysis. The findings of the study show that after learning with PBL, students' mathematics learning outcomes improve. From the first to the second cycle, the percentage of students who received the KKM grew from 42.85% to 78.57%. The findings also demonstrate that using the PBL paradigm in the classroom can help fourth-graders enhance their critical thinking skills. This can be observed in the percentage of pupils in the high group with weak critical thinking skills, which was 62.40% in the first cycle and increased to 77.40%in the second cycle. Because the student sheet given to students in this study was in accordance with the PBL syntax and provided ill-structured issues as a starting point at the beginning of learning, there was an increase. Students can use the PBL syntax in student sheet to address problems that aren't well-structured.

This study aims to improve mathematics communication skills and problem solving through the application of realistic mathematics education. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research. The research subjects were 18 students of class V SD Muhammadiyah Notoprajan, while the object of this research was the mathematics communication skills and problem solving abilities. The data collection techniques used were tests and observations. The data collection instruments used were mathematical communication test questions and problem solving, and observation sheets. Mathematical communication data and problem solving abilities were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study indicate that there is an increase in mathematics communication skills and problem solving through the application of realistic mathematics education. This is indicated by the percentage of students with high and very high mathematics communication skills in the first cycle of 72.22% and an increase in the second cycle to 94%. The percentage of students with the ability to solve math problems in the high and very high category in the first cycle was 66.67%, an increase in the second cycle to 100%.Keywords:mathematics communication; problem solving; realistic mathematicsDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/mtk/v9i2.pp197-210

The low ability of students in the field of mathematics based on the results of the Trend In International Mathematics And Science Study (TIMSS) research has become an evaluation for governments and teachers in the process of learning mathematics. Abstract mathematical learning concepts are one of the causes of students' difficulty in understanding mathematics. Therefore, in teaching mathematics, teachers must provide a bridge so that mathematics looks more concrete for elementary school students. Real Mathematics Education (RME) is one approach that teachers can use in learning mathematics. RME is an approach to learning mathematics that uses the context of everyday life to introduce mathematics. The context of everyday life is a concrete bridge to introduce abstract mathematical concepts. The purpose of this study is to apply RME in mathematics learning to improve problem-solving abilities and mathematics learning outcomes of 5th-grade students at Muhammadiyah Argosari Elementary School. This type of research is classroom action research. The implementation of this research consisted of two cycles. The results of this study indicate that RME can be used as alternative learning to improve problem-solving abilities and student learning outcomes.
