Abstract

This study aims to analyse the management of the Mosque Prosperity Board (BKM) with the objective of enhancing congregational participation in religious activities at the Al Ma’sum Mosque, situated in the Medan Johor District of Medan City. Specifically, this inquiry examines the operational application of core managerial functions namely planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling whilst identifying the salient facilitating and hindering factors encountered in the field. Methodologically, the study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, positioning BKM administrators and congregants as primary informants. Data were collected comprehensively through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The empirical findings reveal that the BKM has formally and structurally instituted management functions through systematic religious program planning and an organised division of activities . Nevertheless, program execution remains suboptimal in fostering equitable congregational engagement, particularly failing to stimulate uniform participation among teenagers and the productive age demographic. Catalysts supporting BKM management include the solidarity of internal administrators, the adequacy of physical mosque facilities, the influential role of religious and community leaders, and robust social relationships amongst congregants. Conversely, institutional barriers include a scarcity of active human resources, fragile administrative and control mechanisms, a distinct lack of program innovation, and the suboptimal utilisation of digital information technology. This research provides valuable theoretical insights for Islamic da'wah management whilst offering practical stratagems to cultivate a more inclusive urban mosque ecosystem.

Abstract

The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has the potential to influence students’ critical thinking skills. This study aimed to examine the effect of artificial intelligence on the critical thinking skills of students in the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara and to compare the tendency of this effect between the 2022 and 2025 cohorts. This study employed a quantitative explanatory design. The population consisted of 114 active students from the 2022 and 2025 cohorts, all of whom were included as respondents using saturated sampling. Data were collected through a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression. The research instrument met the validity criteria and demonstrated very high reliability, with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.925. The findings revealed that artificial intelligence had a positive and significant effect on students’ critical thinking skills, with a regression coefficient of 0.526, a t-value of 7.814, and a significance value of 0.000. The coefficient of determination of 0.347 indicated that artificial intelligence explained 34.7% of the variance in students’ critical thinking skills. Cohort-based analysis showed that the effect of AI was stronger among the 2022 cohort (R^2 = 0.243) than the 2025 cohort (R^2 = 0.104). These findings indicate that AI can support critical thinking when it is used actively to explore information, evaluate responses, compare perspectives, and construct arguments. Therefore, AI integration in Islamic Guidance and Counseling learning should be implemented critically, reflectively, ethically, and in ways that preserve students’ independent learning.

Abstract

This qualitative study describes the implementation of Islamic religious counseling for juvenile inmates at LPKA Class I Medan, Tanjung Gusta, focusing on stakeholder roles, program activities, perceived changes, and constraints. Data were collected on April 21, 2026, from one Islamic religious counselor, one LPKA officer, and ten juvenile inmates aged 15–20 years through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The program included Qur’anic learning, religious lectures, discussions, individual counseling, and self-reflection, generally conducted once a week. Informants and observational data indicated participation in religious activities, improved worship routines, changes in interpersonal behavior, and increased self-reflection. However, the findings do not establish long-term behavioral change or causal program effectiveness. Reported constraints included limited time, differences in motivation and religious backgrounds, and participants’ emotional conditions. The study highlights the need for systematic documentation, adaptive counseling methods, and regular program evaluation.

Abstract

Islam always teaches how to practice appropriate business in Islamic business ethics, the behavior and character of the prophet who is always exemplified in business practice has always been the main basis for how to become a successful businessman, tough, responsible and willing to face various risks. This research is a descriptive qualitative research by revealing the nature, strategies and practices of the prophet's apprenticeship at a young age by identifying books and journals published on Google Schoolar. The results of this study reveal that the Prophet Muhammad was a successful businessman who could not be separated from his apprenticeship practice since he was 12 years old. His character and attitude have always been a role model for Muslims, especially in trading. If the business strategy carried out by the prophet and the characteristics inherent in the prophet become the basis for entrepreneurship, then there is no entrepreneur who acts unjustly towards his customers and there is great hope that all Muslim entrepreneurs will be successful in this world and the hereafter.
