Abstract

The spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia has caused disruption in all sectors, including the economic sector. One of the economic sectors currently in the spotlight is the declining per capita income, while consumption must continue to run to meet daily life. The study aims to identify the financial behavior of Muhammadiyah people in Medan before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the aspects of consumption, cash flow management, saving, investment, and credit management. In addition, it measures whether there are differences in the financial behavior of Muhammadiyah people in Medan before and after the covid-19 pandemic, so that it can be a reference for what form of financial behavior should be. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is certainly a force majeure situation that can occur anytime and anywhere. Even though there are still many other force majeure events that can occur. It is a quantitative approach, with a statistically correlated parametric test (t test), if the data is not normal, then the Wilcoxon test is carried out. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there were significant differences between the financial behavior of Muhammadiyah people in Medan before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The COVID-19 epidemic began at the end of 2019 and continues to this day. Adaptation through the new normal lifestyle is still being promoted, and this is true in terms of both lifestyle and financial behavior. Individuals or families who are financially literate are expected to behave more responsibly. Good financial behavior is supposed to assist an individual or family in avoiding financial fragility. The findings of this study show that the level of financial fragility among the residents of Medan is pretty good with just 27% of all respondents. The findings of this study also show that while the residents have a poor degree of financial literacy, their financial behaviour is pretty decent. Even the public's financial behavior after the Covid-19 outbreak appears to be improving, demonstrating that people's behaviour is very adaptable to changing circumstances. Maintaining expenditures that are not more than income, being more careful to pay bills on time, improving behavior to save more consistently, and increasing efforts to set aside funds for emergency needs are all signs of improved financial behavior

Abstract

Corporate bankruptcy is generally preceded by a decline in financial performance that can be detected early through financial ratio analysis. Entering 2026, the business-to-consumer (B2C) retail sector in Indonesia faces new macroeconomic pressures in the form of a weakening rupiah and contracting retail sales, making early detection of bankruptcy risk crucial for investors and fund managers. This study evaluates the financial health of B2C retail companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange using the Altman Z-Score model as an early warning system instrument, based on signaling theory and agency theory. A quantitative descriptive method was used with a sample of 15 pure B2C retail companies (60 annual financial report observations) for the 2021–2024 period, purposively selected from a population of 31 companies based on the completeness of audited reports and the purity of their B2C business models. The results show that the proportion of companies in the Safe Zone increased from 60.0 percent (2021) to 80.0 percent (2022 and 2024), reflecting a sharp post-pandemic recovery. However, two issuers were found to be consistently in the Distress Zone, indicating structural issues that make them vulnerable to further macroeconomic shocks. This study confirms that the Altman Z-Score is effective as an early warning tool to help investors and fund managers mitigate investment risks in the B2C retail sector amid increasing macroeconomic uncertainty.

Abstract

This study examines the level of financial distress risk at PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk over the 2021–2024 period using the Altman Z''-Score model as an early warning system within the framework of financial risk management. The study is motivated by the persistent financial pressure faced by state-owned construction companies, characterized by high leverage, limited liquidity, and heavy reliance on long-term debt financing. Secondary data are obtained from audited consolidated financial statements and analyzed using a descriptive quantitative approach with a longitudinal case study design. The findings reveal that although the Z''-Score values demonstrate a gradual improving trend throughout the observation period, the company consistently remains within the distress zone, indicating a sustained and elevated risk of bankruptcy. These results confirm the effectiveness of the Altman Z''-Score model as an early warning tool for identifying financial risk and provide important implications for managerial decision-making and financial restructuring policies, particularly for highly leveraged construction firms operating in emerging markets.

In conditions of high competition to find a job, students need to make career preparations as early as possible. Career preparation is begun with making decisions about the career they want to get.
