Abstract

The development of information technology affects students in searching and finding information, particularly information regarding the General Election. The explosion of information on mass media about the elections resulted impact (both positive and negative) to the potential voters. Nowadays, media plays role as a tool for political parties to lead public opinion to support their parties. Based on the data provided by General Election Commission (KPU) in 2014, 20% of voters were identified as students (teens). This is a qualitative research with case study method which aims to gain insight about interpretation, understanding, perceptions and feelings of teenage voters’ behavior in searching and finding information about general election in Indonesia year 2014. The data were collected by conducting interview and observation. Informants in this study were students, aged 17-18 years, who studying in government senior high school in Depok. The results of this study indicates that informants using social media to keep update about general election. Besides, they also gain information from their parents and close friends. Unfortunatelly, they were not able to identify which information which are correct or not, so they rely on people around them to make sure whether they did right decision. Therefore, this study also suggest that KPU needs to develop promotion strategy that suitable for teens about general election.

Abstract

Abstract. This research identifies the information seeking behavior of women who reside in the slum area of Kampung Poncol, Jakarta, Indonesia in the fulfillment of the triple role; those are reproductive, productive, and social. A qualitative approach with phenomenology method is used in this research while the data are collected by non-participant observation and in-depth interview with six participants. The results of this research show that the steps of information seeking behavior of those women are the initiation, selection, formulation, collection, and presentation; while the exploration step does not appear at all. Based on the role of reproduction needed by the informants in relation to their role as housewives, the information needed by the women are about the price of basic commodities, family healthcare and well-being, children education, as well as information about the flood. On the productive role, the information needed are vary among the informants depends on their occupations. While for the social role, the information needed by the informants are related to personal health, fashion, entertainment, and politics. The primary source of information is informal source those are relatives and neighbors.

Abstract

Background of the study: literacy skills of librarianPurpose: This study aims to identify the information literacy skills of librarians in meeting the information needs a user at the public library in the city of Bogor.Method: This study used a qualitative approach with the case study method. Data were collected through observation and interview. The informants of six people selected using purposive sampling, with the criteria set librarian of Library Science education. Information literacy models used in this study are a model Empowering Eight, consisting of identification, exploration, selection, organization, creation, presentation, assessment and application information..Findings: The results showed that the information literacy librarian at the public library in the city of Bogor in meeting the information needs user already applied include a component on the identification, exploration, presentation, assessment, and application.Conclusion: There are some capabilities that cannot be applied to the maximum, including component selection, organization and creation of information.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi promosi Perpustakaan Daniel S.Lev melalui Twitter dan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kegiatan promosi. Dampak perkembangan teknologi yang dirasakan oleh perpustakaan melalui media sosial mempengaruhi promosi yang dilakukan oleh perpustakaan. Maraknya penggunaan media sosial memberikan keuntungan bagi perpustakaan dalam mempromosikan produk perpustakaan. Perpustakaan Daniel S.Lev mempromosikan koleksi, layanan, dan fasilitasnya melalui Twitter. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Subjek dari penelitian adalah pustakawan yang berkaitan dengan media sosial Twitter @Danlevlibrary dan objek dari penelitian merupakan media sosial Twitter yang dimanfaatkan oleh Perpustakaan Daniel S.Lev sebagai media promosi perpustakaan. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga jenis, yaitu wawancara, studi dokumen dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Perpustakaan Daniel S.Lev telah menerapkan empat dari enam bauran promosi yang terdiri dari promosi penjualan, penjualan pribadi, hubungan masyarakat, dan pemasaran digital. Selain itu, promosi juga dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi promosi adalah program Pemustaka Aktif yang berhasil meningkatkan jumlah kunjungan di Perpustakaan Daniel S.Lev.

Abstract

Di era digital saat ini, sistem alat bantu perpustakaan harus dievaluasi untuk mengetahui kepuasan dan efektivitas penggunaannya. Penelitian ini membahas evaluasi sistem temu balik informasi di Perpustakaan Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, studi dokumen dan analisis audio visual kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam hal cakupan, sistem temu balik informasi telah mampu mencakup dan memproses banyak dan beragam koleksi dari berbagai subjek yang digunakan oleh pengguna perpustakaan. Ingat dan presisi juga tinggi dan hasil pengukuran pada jeda waktu pencarian cepat dan efektif dengan waktu rata-rata 0,48 detik. Tampilan katalog juga memudahkan pengguna perpustakaan untuk menggunakan dan mencari informasi meskipun tampak kaku. Katalog online juga telah dapat membantu mengurangi upaya pengguna perpustakaan yang berlebihan dengan tampilan yang akrab serta beberapa klasifikasi sederhana yang mengelompokkan koleksi ke dalam mata pelajaran tertentu. Studi ini memberikan praktik terbaik tentang penggunaan sistem temu balik informasi di perpustakaan pemerintah yang memiliki keunikan dalam hal jenis koleksi, subjek, koleksi itu sendiri dan pengguna perpustakaan.ABSTRACTIn the digital age, library retrieval system tools must be evaluated to find out the satisfaction and effectiveness of its use. This research discusses information retrieval system evaluation at Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) library. The study used qualitative approach with descriptive method. The data was collected through observation, document study and qualitative audio visual analysis. The results showed that in terms of coverage, its information retrieval tool has been able to cover and process numerous and varied collections from various subjects used by library users. Recall and precision were also high and measurement result on search time lag was fast and effective with resulting average time of 0.48 seconds. Catalog interface made it easy for library users to use and search information even though it seemed rigid. Online catalog has able to help reduce library users excess of effort with familiar display as well as several simple classifications categorizing collections into particular subjects. This study provides best practice on the use of information retrieval system for government libraries, in which its uniqueness in terms of collection types, subject, collection itself and library users.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas nilai-nilai, norma dan kepercayaan remaja dalam menyebarkan informasi di media sosial. Proses penyebaran informasi tidak hanya karena teknologi yang memungkinkan informasi untuk disebarluaskan tetapi kehadiran budaya di media sosial untuk mendistribusikan kembali informasi yang diperoleh. Budaya ini kemudian berkembang menjadi kebiasaan digital bagi pengguna media sosial. Tujuan dari penelitian ini menggambarkan nilai-nilai, norma dan kepercayaan remaja dalam menyebarkan informasi di media sosial, yang dipahami dan mendasari remaja dalam menyebarkan informasi. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologis. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini nilai, norma dan kepercayaan adalah filter untuk informasi yang akan disebarkan oleh remaja. Nilai saling menghargai itu membuat remaja tidak serta merta menyebarkan informasi di media sosial. Norma yang disampaikan oleh orang tua dan guru di sekolah dan pemahaman mereka tentang kepercayaan memiliki pengaruh besar pada keputusan remaja untuk menyebarkan informasi. This study discusses the values, norms and beliefs of teenagers in disseminating information in social media. The process of disseminating information is not only due to technology that allows information to be disseminated but the presence of culture in social media to redistribute the information obtained. This culture then evolved into a digital habit for social media users. So the purpose of this study illustrates the values, norms and beliefs of teenagers in disseminating information in social media, which understood and underlies adolescents in disseminating information. The research approach used is qualitative with phenomenological method. Data collection methods used interview and observation. The results of this study values, norms and beliefs is a filter for information to be disseminated by adolescents. The value of mutual respect that makes teenagers do not necessarily disseminate information in social media. Norms delivered by parents and teachers at school and their understanding of beliefs have a major influence on teenagers' decisions to spread information.

Abstract

Introduction. @literarybase is an autobase account focusing on literacy and literature on Twitter. This article discusses the role of @literarybase in increasing the reading interest of its followers based on principles of reading interest development. Data Collection Methods. This study used a quantitative approach with survey method as the data collection technique involving 288 followers of @literarybase account. Data Analysis. The data was analyzed using a descriptive analysis method. Results and Discussion. The results showed that the @literarybase account played a significant role as a place to increase followers' reading interest. In general, the @literarybase account has applied the principles of reading interest development framework. Conclusion. Based on the findings, the application of the principle of teaching interest self-regulation strategies on the @literarybase account is still not as effective as the other three on reading interest development principles.In managing the account, the @literarybase, more interactivediscussions with their followers to support activities related to literacy and literature.

Abstract

This research describes new trends of archivist’s roles in the Archives of University of Indonesia. Technological, social and educational development realm have been influencing these new roles. Collaboration and communication should take place between archivist, librarian and researcher for any different roles as records manager, educator and researcher. Apart from his/ her own expertise in archival principles, archivist should have more skills and specialties in accordance with technological and social development. This research aims to identify the archivist’s roles in an university archives, in this case the Archives of University of Indonesia. This is a qualitative research. The data is collected by observing, interview and literature studies. The informants are choosen by applying purpossive sampling method that include among others the chairwoman and the qualified archivists of the archives. The result shows that the evolving roles of the archivist could develop the archives’ achievement in turn. These new roles are including digital archivist, researcher and educator. Apart from those, archivist should maintain his/ her roles as past guardian and librarian-archivist.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dalam bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan kearsipan yang berupaya mengidentifikasi langkah-langkah serta pemahaman staf kantor arsip di kelurahan kota Depok dalam upaya kesiagaan menghadapi bencana. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi pemahaman staf kantor arsip kelurahan beserta langkah-langkah apa saja yang telah diupayakan dalam rangka kesiagaan menghadapi bencana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga kelurahan di Depok belum optimal dalam kesiagaan menghadapi bencana. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan masukan bagi para pemangku kebijakan, khususnya pemerintah kota Depok dalam mendukung terciptanya lingkungan kerja yang siaga terhadap bencana melalui suatu program kesiagaan menghadapi bencana di kantor arsip kelurahan yang digagas oleh tim penelitian.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Respon terhadap bencana sangat penting dalam perpustakaan perguruan tinggi, terutama di masa pandemi. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis akun Instagram pada tahap respon bencana di perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan konten analisis deskriptif dengan menganalisis akun Instagram perpustakaan perguruan tinggi terbaik di Indonesia berdasarkan Webometrics Rank 2021. Sejak 2 Maret 2020 hingga 31 Desember 2021, terdapat total 4192 unggahan dari 19 akun perpustakaan perguruan tinggi yang dianalisis. Terdapat 216 unggahan berdasarkan respon terhadap pandemi yang meliputi konten status gedung, jam masuk perpustakaan, akses dan layanan, serta proses dan prosedur. Hasil: Dapat disimpulkan bahwa akun Instagram perguruan tinggi belum memanfaatkan Instagram pada tahap respon terhadap bencana secara maksimal. Hal ini terlihat dari beberapa akun Instagram perpustakaan yang sama sekali tidak mengunggah informasi berupa video maupun gambar terkait tahap respon terhadap bencana. Namun, perpustakaan perguruan tinggi telah merespon bencana pandemi dengan memberikan informasi mengenai langkah-langkah prosedur yang diterapkan di perpustakaan untuk menjamin keselamatan pengguna. Kesimpulan: Pemahaman akan tahap respon pada bencana merupakan hal yang harus diperhatikan oleh perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Perpustakaan perguruan tinggi dapat memaksimalkan penggunaan akun Instagram untuk melakukan promosi terkait kebijakan baru yang diterapkan pada kondisi pandemi.   Background: The response to disasters is very significant in university libraries, especially during a pandemic. Purpose: This study aims to analyze Instagram accounts at the disaster response stage in university libraries. Methods: This research was conducted using quantitative research methods with a descriptive analysis content approach by analyzing the Instagram accounts of libraries at the top universities in Indonesia based on the Webometrics Rank 2021. From March 2, 2020, to December 31, 2021, there were a total of 4.192 posts from the 19 university library accounts analyzed. There are 216 posts based on responses to the pandemic covering building status content, library entry hour, access and services, and process and procedure. Results: It can be concluded that the college's Instagram account has not utilized Instagram at the response stage at its best, and it can be seen from some of the library's Instagram accounts that did not post information in the form of video or image related to the response stage at all. However, university libraries have responded to the pandemic disaster by providing information on the procedure steps implemented in libraries to ensure users’ safety. Conclusion: Understanding the stages of disaster response is something that university libraries must pay attention to. University libraries can maximize the use of Instagram accounts to promote new policies implemented during the pandemic.
