Abstract

The development ability of embryos recovered from LMR - Strain rats (age 3 to 4 months with an average 120 g). embryos recovered from treated animals with 10 and 20 IU PMSG, respectively, were compared with those from control (0 IU). Embryos were collected from uteri on day 4 post coital.Treated groups tended to show an increase willingness to mate comfored to control groups, but a high number of embryos that have degenerated in rats treated with 20 IU PMSG were observed. The experiment suggested, that the dose of PMSG was an important source of variation in embryo production.

Abstract

The influence of various types of sera i.e. Fetal Calf Serum (FCS), Bovine Post Estrous Serum (SPES) as heterolog sera; and Ewes Fetal Serum (EFS) and Ewes Serum (ES) as homologue sera on in vitro maturation and fertilization of sheep oocytes was investigated using Tissue Culture Medium 199TM (TCM 199. Gibco). Sovine sera were collected from cow at seven days post-estrus, while ewes sera were collected during estrous (ES-HO) and six days post estrous (ES-H6). The result shows that the maturation rate of oocytes cultured in medium supplemented with EFS, ES-HO and ES-H6 at  concentrations of 32.9%, 68.7%, and 67.6% respectively is better than those supplemented with FCS and SPES at concentrations of 22.2% and 28.9%, respectively. In vitro fertilization rate were significantly higher in medium supplemented with ES-HO and ES-H6 at concentration of 65.4% and 65.8% (P < 0.05) than that supplemented with SPES at concentration of 31.7%. In conclusion, ewes sera could be used in culture medium for promoting both in vitro maturation and fertilization rate of sheep oocytes.

Abstract

The effect of sublethal concentrations of phosphamidon on tissue damage of nile fish (Oreochromis niloticus Trew.) were studied at the Laboratory of Aquatic Animal Physiology Faculty of Fisheries and at the Laboratory of Anatomy F aculty of Veterinary Medicine Institut Pertanian Bogor. Renewal test method with 40 % of the media renewed everyday was used for the examination of the sublethal toxicity. Each test consisted of 30 nile fish in 15 1 water. The concentrations of phosphamidon used in this study was 0 mg/l (control group), 3.7 mg/l, 7.4 mg/l, dan 11.0 mg/l, respectively, and all groups were repeated three times. Histopathologically, the gill yielded secondary lamella damages, necrosis, hipertrophy, fusion lamella and degeneration of cartilaginous supportive tissue. The intestine showed necrosis of mucous cells, hipertrophy, bleeding in the lamina propria, and proliferation of connective tissue. In the hepatopancreas organ there were bleeding, infiltration of leucocytes and proliferation of connective tissue.
The experiments were carried out to study the influence of different sera on in vitro maturation and early development of ovine embryos. Sera used in this study were FLS (Fetal Lamb Serum), ewe serum collected on Day 0 (ES-DO) and Day 6 (ES-D6) of oestrus cycles. Ovine oocyte were matured and cultured in TCM-199 supplemented with 10 % of different sera. Results of this experiment showed that supplementation of ES-DO or ES-D6 could support maturation rate (Metaphase-II) at 68.7% and 67.6%, respec Yohan Rusiyanto; Bambang Purwantara; Yuhara Sukra

Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the correlation between the decreased of body weight asand the increase of egg production, after the forced molting stress program. As many as 180medium type chickens, strain Dekalb Warren, aged 84 weeks old were used. The desain applied2x2x2 factorial and used complete randomized design in 5 times replications each of whichconsisted 4 chickens. The first factors were water supply and without water supply. The secondfactor was the duration of no feeding for 10 and 5 days. The third factor was the amount of feedgiven during recovery period, that was 50% and 25% of the normal consumption. The total of thetreatment of forced molting program applied were 9 treatments. The data obtained were analysedusing analysis of variance (anova), orthogonal comparison test and regression analysis. Theperformance and the mortality were also observed. The result showed that the treatment couldincreased egg production significantly and repaired layer performance with low mortality. It istherefore concluded that the increase of the egg production had no correlation with the decreaseof body weight in forced molting program.
