Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the dynamic population of beef cattle at North Pamona of Poso regency. This research was an analytical descriptive study conducted using survey method on 572 respondents taken using a purposive sampling method from all villages at         North Pamona. The result showed that the composition of beef cattle were 533 (34.88%) bull and 995 (65.12%) cows. The total number of bull calves, bullock and bull were 93, 100 and 340, respectively, while the heifer calves, heifers and cows were 135, 130 and 738 respectively.          The birth rate was 30.89% or 14.83% of the total population whereas the motility rate was 2.7% so that the natural increase was 12.13%.  Key words: Beef cattle, population and reproductivity.

Abstract

The influence of various types of sera i.e. Fetal Calf Serum (FCS), Bovine Post Estrous Serum (SPES) as heterolog sera; and Ewes Fetal Serum (EFS) and Ewes Serum (ES) as homologue sera on in vitro maturation and fertilization of sheep oocytes was investigated using Tissue Culture Medium 199TM (TCM 199. Gibco). Sovine sera were collected from cow at seven days post-estrus, while ewes sera were collected during estrous (ES-HO) and six days post estrous (ES-H6). The result shows that the maturation rate of oocytes cultured in medium supplemented with EFS, ES-HO and ES-H6 at  concentrations of 32.9%, 68.7%, and 67.6% respectively is better than those supplemented with FCS and SPES at concentrations of 22.2% and 28.9%, respectively. In vitro fertilization rate were significantly higher in medium supplemented with ES-HO and ES-H6 at concentration of 65.4% and 65.8% (P < 0.05) than that supplemented with SPES at concentration of 31.7%. In conclusion, ewes sera could be used in culture medium for promoting both in vitro maturation and fertilization rate of sheep oocytes.

Abstract

The experiments were carried out to study the influence of different sera on in vitro maturation and early development of ovine embryos. Sera used in this study were FLS (Fetal Lamb Serum), ewe serum collected on Day 0 (ES-DO) and Day 6 (ES-D6) of oestrus cycles. Ovine oocyte were matured and cultured in TCM-199 supplemented with 10 % of different sera. Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the best hatching technique of maleo eggs from various measures such as as ex-situ, incubation time and hatch capacity of maleo bird using incubator. Thirty eggs were collected from the Lore Lindu National Park of Palu, Province of central Sulawesi according to an accidental sampling. The results showed that the mean weight of eggs from the National Lore Lindu Park was 208.80 ± 12.30 g, egg length was 102.85 ± 0.034 mm while egg width was 60.66 ± 0.02 mm.  The mean of incubator temperature of was 34.061 ± 0.19ºC with relative humidity of 70.87 ± 1.43 %. The percent of hatching eggs for incubation time of 53-55 days was 23.81 %, for that of 56-58 days was 23.81 %, for that of 59-61 days was 42.85 % and for that of 62-64 days was 9.53 %.  Thus, the average time for the eggs to hatch was 58.47 ± 2.88 days at the hatched rate of 70%. Based on such figures above, it can be concluded that the hatching technique using incubator could become the conservation strategy for maleo bird in Sulawesi particularly in Central Sulawesi Province

Abstract

Maleo (Macrocephalon maleo)  termasuk famili Megapodiidae yang merupakan fauna langka dan endemik Pulau Sulawesi. Keistimewaan jenis burung maleo yaitu memiliki telur lebih besar 4-5 kali dari telur ayam kampung, meskipun besar tubuhnya relatif tidak jauh berbeda dengan jenis ayam, dengan warna kerabang telur mendekati warna merah dadu. Penelitian bertujuan mendapatkan gambaran mengenai perilaku bertelur maleo di Kawasan habitat Kuala Vuno Desa Oloboju Kabupaten Sigi Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Penelitian menggunakan metode survey dan dianalisis secara deskripif. Peubah yang diamati yaitu perilaku bertelur sebelum bertelur, saat bertelur dan setelah bertelur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku bertelur maleo di Kawasan Habitat Kuala Vuno Desa Oloboju Kabupaten Sigi Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah dimulai dari maleo mendatangi habitat peneluran, melakukan pengintaian pada lokasi yang dituju, lalu menggali lubang untuk meletakkan telur pada lokasi yang aman. Apabila lubang sudah siap maka maleo betina masuk ke dalam lubang untuk bertelur selama beberapa menit sementara maleo jantan mengawasi selama burung maleo betina dalam proses bertelur. Setelah burung maleo betina keluar dari lubang peneluran maka sepasang burung maleo tersebut menimbun dan meninggalkan habitat penelurannya.

Abstract

Research problem was lack of information regarding reproductive disorders that cause failure of artificial insemination and factors causing level and stages of reproductive failure of Donggala cattle. Therefore, the objective current study is to explore information of reproduction insemination failure on the stage of ovary and estrus abnormalities that influence the success of artificial insemination and factors causing reproductive disorders in Donggala cattle at each stage of reproduction. This research was a descriptive study carried out in Sindue sub-district, Labuan sub-district, Central Banawa sub-district and South Banawa in Donggala Regency which lasted from July to November 2016. The study used 121 samples of Donggala cattle belonging to the local farmers group. The cattle samples were cows that in dry period, not pregnant, not lactating and not in an estrus state. The variables of this study are reproductive disorders including anatomical ovarian abnormalities (ovarian hypoplasia, persistent corpus luteum) with rectal palpation approach (direct palpation) and abnormalities of estrus (subestrus, disguised estrus, anestrus) with observation. Fertility variables were non rutern rate (NRR) and conception rate (CR) as the focus on the success of Artificial Insemination (AI). Research variables showed that the percentage of reproductive disorders was much lower with NRR and CR values ​​than normal ovarian values ​​higher than AI evaluation results. The conception rate of the first AI results in Donggala cattle with normal anatomy and ovarian function was 95.6% (87/91 head). Furthermore, ovarian hypoplasia was 9%, (2/22 head), whereas persistent corpus luteum did not occur conception.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of the Bali cattle population in the northern part of Parigi Moutong Regency, this study has been carried out in three districts, namely Bolano, Bolano Lambunu and Moutong for two months, from March to May 2022. The method used in this study is a purposive method. sampling. The parameters observed in this study are the income rate consisting of the annual birth rate, the annual purchase rate, the annual cattle subsidy/assistance and the expenditure rate including the mortality rate (mortality), slaughter and sales as well as natural growth/Natural Increase (NI). The results showed that, the income rate for the birth rate to the mother was 54.03% and the birth rate to the population was 22.41% from 362 calves born, while the purchase rate was 6.32% from 102 heads and assistance was 6.13%. of 100 heads. The expenditure rate for the sales level is 7.18% of the 116 birds sold, while the slaughter rate is 2.48% from 40 birds, the mortality rate to the broodstock is 1.94% from 670 birds and the mortality rate to the population is 0.8% from 1615. cattle, so the number in the NI value is 21.61%.

Abstract

Reproduksi merupakan kunci utama dalam pengembangbiakan ternak, karena proses reproduksi ternak yang normal diikuti oleh produksi ternak yang baik. Reproduksi dianggap sebagai salah satu aspek untuk meningkatkan produksi dan populasi ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efisiensi reproduksi Sapi Donggala di Kabupaten Donggala. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di 5 kecamatan yaitu Kecamatan Tanantovea, Sindue Tobata, Sindue Tambosabura, Balaesang, dan Banawa Tengah . Penentuan lokasi menggunakan purposive sampling dan responden ditentukan secara accidental sampling. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode sampling terhadap peternak Sapi Donggala di 5 kecamatan tersebut. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data Tahun 2022.  Variabel yang diamati berupa karakteristik peternak dan data reproduktivitas. Karakteristik peternak terdiri dari umur, pendidikan, dan pengalaman beternak. Sedangkan data reproduktivitas berupa umur pertama dikawinkan, lama kebuntingan, dan Calving Interval (CI).  Hasil penelitian diperoleh umur peternak terbanyak yaitu umur 15-65 tahun (96%), tingkat pendidikan terbanyak yaitu SMP (42%), pengalaman beternak tertinggi yaitu 3-10 tahun (67%), umur pertama dikawinkan tertinggi umur 1,6-2 tahun (46%), lama kebuntingan sebanyak 270-290 hari (69%), dan calving interval (CI) diatas 12 bulan (73%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efisiensi reproduksi Sapi Donggala di Kabupaten Donggala masih tergolong rendah

Abstract

Evaluasi keberhasilan inseminasi buatan pada sapi Bali (Bos sondaicus) merupakan penilaian dalam pelaksanaan inseminasi buatan yang merupakan salah satu teknologi yang tepat guna dapat dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas Sapi Bali dan mampu meningkatkan mutu genetik dari ternak sapi Bali. Penelitian ini di laksanakan di Kecamatan Mori Utara kabupaten Morowali Utara tahun 2022. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode survey berdasarkan data sekunder dan data primer melalui wawancara. Data sekunder diperoleh dari Bidang Peternakan Dinas Pertanian dan Pangan Daerah Kabupaten Morowali Utara, dan wawancara dilakukan melalui kuisioner yang sudah dibuat. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sapi Bali sebanyak 130 ekor. Penentuan lokasi penelitian secara sengaja (purposive) dengan pertimbangan ternak  yang sudah pernah dilakukan IB dan yang terdapat di daerah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai service per conception(S/C) rata-rata 1,38 ± 0,13, Conception Rate 66,89 ± 9,77%, angka Kelahiran Rate 66,89 ± 9,77% dan  angka kematian anak 6,20% Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pelaksanaan inseminasi buatan di Kecamatan Mori Utara Kabupaten Morowali Utara masuk dalam kategori baik.empedu 0,72 ml/ekor, berat ventrikulus 21,9 g/ekor, dan berat usus halus 25,3 g/ekor.
