Abstract

Green mussels on the Kenjeran beach contains 1.833 mg / kg heavy metals Pb. Excessively accumulated heavy metals in the body can lead to death or illness in a short time. This study aims atdetermining the difference levels of Pb decreased in green mussel (Mytilusvirids) with a different concentration of the filtrate tomatoes.This study is an experimental research using one group pretest posttest design.The dependent variable in this study is the heavy metals Pb concentration in green mussel. The independent variable is the filtrate tomatoes concentration (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) with 60 minutes soaking time. To determine the decrease levels effect of heavy metals Pb concentration, researcheruses One Way Anova test becausethe data has normal distribution.The results shows that the average content of Pbbefore treatment (control) is 0.20 mg / Kg. Afterthe treatment, the highest decrease of Pb is at 75% concentration that is 0.12 mg / kg with a percentage decrease of 60%.It can be concluded that there is an influence of filtrate tomatoes concentration to decreased levels of heavy metals Pb in green mussel. It is suggested to people to soak the mussels before consumption by using tomatoes filtrate because it can reduce the level of heavy metals Pb contained in crestacea, especially green mussel. Keywords : green mussels, heavy metals Pb, tomato filtrate

Abstract

Penyehatan kapal penumpang perlu dilakukan dalam rangka mewujudkan sanitasi kapal yang baik. Pemenuhuan syarat sanitasi pada kapal agar terciptanya kenyamanan dan pencegahan penularan penyakit bagi penumpang dan ABK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan sanitasi kapal penumpang di wilayah kerja KKP Kelas I Surabaya.Penelitian ini bersifat observasi deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional, penentuan objek penelitian yaitu semua kapal penumpang yang berlabuh/sandar di pelabuhan selama waktu penelitian. Penilaian sub variabel yakni dapur, ruang rakit makanan, ruang tidur ABK, air minum, limbah cair, limbah medis/padat dan keberadaan vektor terdiri dari dua kategori yaitu memenuhi syarat dan tidak memenuhi syarat. Seluruh variabel akan disajikan dalam bentuk tabel.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penilaian terhadap variabel sanitasi dapur, ruang rakit makanan, ruang tidur ABK, air minum dan keberadaan vektor 2 ruangan (33%) terlihatnya tanda keberadaan vektor dan 4 ruangan (67%) tidak terlihat adanya keberadaan vektor pada KMP Legundi dikategorikan memenuhi syarat, sedangkan variabel limbah cair dan limbah medis/padat tidak memenuhi syarat.Disimpulkan dari sanitasi dapur, ruang rakit makanan, ruang tidur ABK, air minum dan keberadaan vektor pada KMP Legundi dikategorikan memenuhi syarat, sedangkan variabel limbah cair dan limbah medis/padat tidak memenuhi syarat. Disarankan perlu mempertahankan sistem pemeriksaan sanitasi kapal, serta diperlukannya pemantauan yang dilakukan secara berkala agar tidak menjadi tempat penyebaran penyakit. Serta memberi himbauan untuk melakukan pengolahan limbah cair yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan kapal sebelum dibuang, memberi himbauan kepada pemilik kapal maupun ABK untuk selalu menjaga kebersihan kapal dan meningkatkan kuantitas maupun kualitas fasilitas agar penumpang menjadi nyaman.

Abstract

Garbage is resulted from human activities and their existence is unwanted. High population growth can causean increase in garbage volume. This situation calls for right and proper garbage management. Such garbagemanagement can be done in the landfill.The research was carried out in Kupang Landfill at Kecamatan Jabon Kabupaten Sidoarjo. This was adescriptive study, using cross sectional approach. This study illustrated the garbage managementimplementation in Kupang Landfill in Kecamatan Jabon Kabupaten Sidoarjo in 2014. The data were analyseddescriptively based on the tabulated data using fulfillment standard as 50%.The results indicated a score of 65% on garbage management implementation in the Landfill that is inaccordance with the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 3 Year 2013 regarding The Implementationof Garbage Infrastructure in Household Garbage Handling and Garbage Similar to Household Garbage. Thegarbage management method adopted in Kupang landfill is a controlled landfill. Garbage comes fromresidential areas, markets and manufacturing companies or industries. The daily generation rate of garbage isin the average of 376 m3/ day. The type of the produced garbage is household garbage and similar to those.In terms of the composition it consists of organiC and inorganic garbage. The equipment and tools being usedin garbage management are dump truck, arm roll, pick up, bulldozer, broom, small water pump, big dieselengine, and methane gas suck blower.It is suggested to perform some sorting between garbage from manufacturing companies or industries withpublic garbage. Garbage grouping is based on garbage composition which can be expressed in % of weight or% of volume of each garbage composition, conduct garbage sorting and grouping since garbage leaves itssources, provide sorting facilities, a place for every type of garbage, and provide sorted garbage collectionfacility

Abstract

Toilet merupakan ruangan bersih, aman, nyaman dan higienis yang dirancang lengkap dengan kloset, persediaan air bersih dan perlengkapan lain untuk masyarakat saat berada di tempat domestik, komersial, dan publik dapat membuang hajat serta memenuhi kebutuhan fisik, sosial dan psikologisnya. Air pada bak toilet dapat ditumbuhi Candida sp apabila sanitasi yang dilakukan kurang baik. Air dapat menjadi sumber penularan penyakit jamur (kandidiasis) terutama pada air bak toilet yang digunakan untuk membersihkan anggota badan yang vital. Faktor lain kontaminasi jamur Candida pada air bak toilet dapat melalui berbagai sumber, diantaranya yaitu kontaminasi sumber air, lingkungan sekitar toilet dan frekuensi menguras. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh fasilitas sanitasi toilet terhadap jamur Candida albicans pada toilet laki-laki dan perempuan di SPBU.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain cross sectional. Pengumpulan data dengan cara pengukuran, pemeriksaan, dan penilaian formulir sanitasi toilet. Subyek penelitian ini adalah toilet yang terdapat bak air yang berjumlah 6 toilet (3 toilet laki-laki dan 3 toilet perempuan). Obyek penelitian yaitu jamur Candida albicans.Dari hasil penilaian fasilitas sanitasi toilet di SPBU Kecamatan Taman Kabupaten Sidoarjo menunjukkan dari 6 toilet didapatkan 4 toilet (66,7 %) termasuk dalam kriteria baik dan 2 toilet (33,3 %) termasuk dalam kriteria kurang. Hasil pemeriksaan jamur Candida albicans di 6 toilet SPBU menunjukkan hasil positif pada semua toilet yang telah diperiksa.

Abstract

Penduduk di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tekung sarana air bersih yang digunakan adalah sumur gali. Sumur gali berjumlah 7.320 , namun yang memenuhi syarat kesehatan yaitu 103. Konstruksi sumur yang tidak memenuhi syarat kesehatan dapat menyebabkan pencemaran pada air bersih. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh konstruksi sumur gali terhadap kualitas bakteriologis air bersih.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei analitik dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Variabel pada penelitian ini yaitu kualitas bakteriologis air bersih, lokasi, dinding sumur, bibir sumur dan lantai. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 995. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan proporsional random sampling. Jumlah sampel yang diambil sebanyak 91. Analisa data menggunakan uji regresi berganda.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa air bersih yang memenuhi syarat bakteriologis yaitu 27 sampel dan 64 tidak memenuhi syarat. Konstruksi sumur yang memenuhi syarat adalah 19 dan 72 tidak memenuhi syarat kesehatan. Sumber pencemar yang meliputi resapan septictank, air kotor, tempat pembuangan sampah, dan kandang ternak. Hasil analisa statistik diketahui bahwa lokasi, dinding sumur dan lantai memiliki pengaruh terhadap kualitas bakteriologis air bersih. Bibir sumur tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap kualitas bakteriologis air bersih.Kontruksi sumur meliputi lokasi, dinding sumur dan lantai mempengaruhi kualitas bakteriologis air bersih. Disarankan kepada puskesmas untuk melakukan penyuluhan mengenai konstruksi sumur yang memenuhi syarat kesehatan dan penyakit yang dapat ditularkan oleh air yang tercemar. Dan puskesmas hendaknya melakukan pemeriksaan kualitas bakteri secara rutin. Kata Kunci : Air Bersih, konstruksi sumur gali, kualitas bakteriologis

Abstract

One indicator of swimming pool water pollution is the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria. Factors can caused the presence of Escherichia coli in pool water are the levels of residual chlorine, the visitors who dispose of metabolic waste (sweat, urine) in pool water and disinfection of pool that were not done properly. This study analyzes the quality of swimming pool water seen from the presence of Escherichia coli in public pool water. This study was an observational analytic that use a cross sectional research design. The sample used were public swimming pool located in the Sukodono Health Center working area with total of pools were 10, and with Fisher's exact test. The results showed that main factor affecting the presence of Escherichia coli in pool water was residual chlorine content with a p-value of 0.019 which means that there was a difference number of Escherichia coli in swimming pools containing residual chlorine and in pool water that didn’t contain residual chlorine.This study concluded that there were differences in the number of Escherichia coli bacteria in pool water containing residual chlorine and in pool water that did not contain residual chlorine. To keep the remaining chlorine in pool water in accordance with Permenkes No. 32 of 2017, pool managers should routinely check the remaining chlorine and do chlorination regularly. Keywords: Escherichia coli, residual chlor, swimming pool

Abstract

Tourism is a gathering place for a lot of people both adults and children so that it potential both as the site of disease transmission, environmental pollution, or other health problems. Therefore, the facilities provided must be complete, so that surveillance and inspection of sanitation in public places is very necessary to prevent transmission of disease and other health problems as well. This research was descriptive, which will describe about the state of sanitation facilities in SunanAmpel Religious Tourism of Surabaya Year 2016. Data collection was conducted by interviewing the manager and observation by using the tourism object appraisal form. Based on the results of observation at the sites, the object was concidered fair in category (69.7%). This case due to the state of the environment also in fair category (73%), the state of sanitation facilities was fair category (77%), state of the supporting facilities down to poor category (35%), the state of mosque sanitation included in the good category (82%). Final result of study concluded that the state of Sunan Ampel Religious Tourism of Surabaya was in the category of Fair (69.7%); it is suggested to the manager of the Sunan Ampel Religious Tourism of Surabaya to continuously monitor and keeping clean the environment of mosque area, grave, and the cleanliness of toilets. The trash place should be replaced using the garbage bins which are not easily corroded and fitted with a lid, janitors expected to make a schedule of transporting waste to landfill in maximum of every 3 days and move poolling locations to other empty sites. Abstract

ABSTRACTBungah is a village and sub-district in Gresik Regency, East Java province, Indonesia. DesaBungah is well-known as a center of production for „kopyah‟ (a local term for cap) and tambourines. Sincethe 50s the people of Bungah made the business of producing tambourines as their livelihood. Thisbusiness continues to grow along with the increasing number of tambourine craftsmen, mainly found inwestern part of Bungah in Dusun Kaliwot. Currently, tambourines made in Bungah already spread toalmost all parts of Indonesia. The purpose of the present study was to determine the effects of the levelsof wood dust on workers‟ respiratory complaints.This is an analytic study, that attempts to explore how and why a health phenomenon occur.Subsequently, it analyzes the dynamics of correlation between the risk and effect factors.Results showed that the individual level of dust measured in 38 workers of tambourine homeindustry in Dusun Kaliwot was eligible (52.6%). Furthermore, most of those 38 workers had severerespiratory complaints (36.8%).The owners of tambourine home industry are recommended to provide their workers with masksto minimize dust exposure and to prohibit smoking at work. Workers are expected to wear masks and notsmoke during working hours. The Office of Industry and Trade is expected to monitor and control thelevels of dust in the workplace. Future researchers are expected to investigate the ambient dust levelsaround the home industry.Keywords : Tambourine home industry, levels of wood dust, respiratory complaints

Abstract

Community health status was also determined by environmental condition, thatincluded public places and availability of health services. Among many problems encounteredby the Mojosari Market included the fact that many merchants disposed off their garbageindescriminately, dirty and smelly bathrooms and toilet rooms, smelly and tarnish placereserved for praying and a place for selling birds, and the so called clean water that deviatedfrom standards. This research was directed to assess condition of sanitation facilities inMojosari Market in 2013.This was classified as a descriptive observational research following a cross sectionalapproach. Data collection is conducted by means of interviews, observation and laboratorytests. Object of this investigation were condition of sanitation facilities as well as otherfacilities. Data was analyzed descriptively.Results indicated that clean water availability was granted with score of 400 (40%)which meant it was in compliance, bath room and toilet room was granted with score of 500(50%) which also meant it was in compliance, garbage disposal facility was given a score of620 (62%) meaning that it was in compliance, sewerage system scored 200 (20%) and itcomplied to the expected requirements, the musholla scored 240 (40%) and remained incompliance, bird selling place scored 272 (34%) which was in compliance range while thehealth service post scored 0 and it did not domply to the requirement.It was deemed advisable to carry out clean water disinfect at the sources, to addartflclal lighting units in toilet room and to remove and clean all visible crusts, to incorporatesorting mechanism in garbage disposal and to provide cover on garbage containers, cleaningthe sewer system, periodical cleaning at musholla , and to provide health service postequipped with first aid items.Key words: sanitation facilities and other facilities

Abstract

Detergent is included as chemical characteristic of the wastewater in the form of organic compound that has negative impact on the enviroment and human health. Phytoremediation can be used to reduce level of detergent by using the water hyacinth plant as abssorbent. The purposeof this research is to use water hyacinth to reduce level of detergent in water. This is a pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest approach. Datacollection was conducted by checking detergent level for a contact time as many as 31 samples.Furthermore, the data was analyzed descriptively by using tabulation. The highest percentage of decrease in detergent level based on the amount of water hyacinth was in the 6th day with 6 hyacinth by 70.08%. In this research, it is advisable to raw water companies to use water hyacinth in reducing level of detergent in water. Other researchers are suggested to increase the amount of water hyacinth and extend contact time by performing the same processing. To add detergent, it needs to take into account the initial detergent concentration.
