Abstract

The  dialectical  process  between  the  Qur’an,  Hadith  and  other  religious texts with reality will produce a variety of  interpretations.  This diversity of interpretations within different kinds of approaches: theological, legal, mystical, social, political, economical as well as various other points, in turn will present a discourse in the domain of thought, as well as practical measures in social realities. In this article, the author analyzes the theological and legal interpretation of Jama‘ah Tabligh. He also discusses a number of concepts which was arisen from their readings of a number of verses in the Qur’an and Hadith.

Abstract

Artikel ini memfokuskan kajian tentang metode Living Qur’an sebagai sebuah pendekatan baru dalam kajian al-Qur’an. Living Qur’an adalah kajian atau penelitian ilmiah tentang berbagai peristiwa sosial terkait dengan kehadiran al-Qur’an atau keberadaan al-Qur’an di sebuah komunitas muslim tertentu. Living Qur’an juga bisa dimaknai sebagai “teks al-Qur’an yang ‘hidup’ dalam masyarakat.” Pendekatan ini berusaha memotret proses interaksi masyarakat terhadap al-Qur’an, yang tidak sebatas pada pemaknaan teksnya, tetapi lebih ditekankan pada aspek penerapan teks-teks al-Qur’an dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penerapan teks-teks al-Qur’an tersebut kemudian menjadi tradisi yang melembaga dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat

Abstract

This article focuses on the study of interpretations of the meaning of happiness in the Qur'an. From the results of the author's study, it was concluded that the Qur'an uses different terms to describe happiness. The saida term with its various derivatives shows happiness in the hereafter. While the term aflaha with its various derivatives shows the process of achieving happiness in the world and the hereafter. The Qur'an also distinguishes between pleasure or pleasure (al-farh, mata ‘) with happiness (al-Falah, al-Sa‘adah). From the results of the study the author shows that the Qur'an distinguishes the meaning of pleasure from happiness. Happiness does not merely fulfill desires or desires of lust alone, but also considers two important aspects in us, namely affective (emotion) and cognitive (logic). Real happiness can be achieved if we keep abiding by the rules and moral norms that apply. Happiness (happiness, al-sa‘adah) is different from pleasure (pleasure, al-farh, al-surur).

Abstract

The understanding of the Qur’an produces a variety of cultural practices, which are the results of the reception of Muslims to the Qur’an. One of them is the practice of reciting selawat which is carried out at Ar-Rizqy Selawat Majlis, Buntet Village, Astanajapura District, Cirebon Regency. It is the reception of QS. al-Aḥzâb verse 56. There are two results of this study. The first one is that the background of the selawat tradition was a part of the practices of the QS. Al-Aḥzab’s command (verse 56). In addition, the recitation of the Qur'an as dhikr was believed to have strength or virtue. Another form of Living Qur'an practices was reciting the Qur’an by reading it as much as one nis}f (half of a juz), then reading QS al-Fâtiḥaḥ once, and then reading QS al-Ikhlâs}, al-Falaq, al-Nâs, and al-Kursiy Verse 70 times. The number of the counts (70) was based on the ijazah (certificate) given by the teacher. Besides, the number 70 is an odd number and Allah favors odd numbers. The second result is the reception to the Qur'an was a functional reception which consisted of 3 functions. The first function was to protect oneself from the disturbance by supernatural creatures. Qur’an’s verses considered as verses that could protect oneself from the disturbance by supernatural creatures were found in the sixth verse of QS al-Nâs, the third verse of QS al-Falaq, and in  “ya'lamu ma baina aidihim wa makhalfahum” in al-Kursi. The second function was to use water as medicine. And the last one was to provide a psychological effect, namely to reassure the soul.Keywords: selawat tradition, reception and phenomenology. Pemahaman terhadap Alquran menghasilkan beragam perilaku kultural. Perilaku kultural merupakan hasil dari resepsi umat Islam terhadap al-Qur’ân. Salah satu praktiknya ialah resepsi terhadap QS. al-Aḥzab ayat 56 yakni praktik pembacaan selawat atau disebut dengan selawatan yang dilakukan di Majelis Selawat Ar-Rizqy Desa Buntet kecamatan Astanajapura, Kabupaten Cirebon. Hasil dari penulisan tersebut adalah pertama latar belakang tradisi selawatan bagian dari perilaku dari perintah QS. Al-Aḥzab ayat 56 dan pembacaan Alquran dijadikan sebagai bacaan dzikir dipercaya memiliki kekuatan atau keutamaan. Bentuk praktik Living Qur’an lainnya ialah pembacaan Alquran antara lain membaca Alquran sebanyak satu nishfu (setengah juz). Kemudian membaca surat al-Fâtiḥaḥ 1 Kali, dan membaca surat al-Ikhlâs, al-Falaq, an-Nâs, dan ayat Kursi sebanyak 70 Kali. Banyaknya jumlah hitungan 70 kali berdasarkan hasil ijazah dari gurunya. Selain itu, angka 70 merupakan angka ganjil, dan Allah menyukai angka yang ganjil. Kedua, resepsi terhadap Alquran yaitu resepsi fungsional, 1) melindungi diri dari gangguan makhluk. Ayat Alquran yang dianggap sebagai ayat yang dapat melindungi diri dari gangguan makhluk menurut para pelaku ialah terdapat dalam ayat ke-6 surat an-Nâs, ayat ke 3 surat al-Falaq dan pada lafaz ya’lamu mâ bayna aydîhim wa mâ khalfahum dalam ayat kursi. 2) Penggunaan media air sebagai obat. 3) dapat memberikan efek psikologis yakni menentramkan jiwa.Kata Kunci: Tradisi selawatan, Resepsi dan Fenomenologi

Abstract

Hell torture is not only in the form of just hell fire and scorpion, however there is also torture hell which in form of fruits or food which are hardly known by many people. In hell there are food and trees of drink as dish to all residents of hell. Among them, there are trees of zaqqum, trees of dhari, ghislin, al-hamim, al-ghassaq, and al-shadid. This undertanding rises several questions: 1) How is the conception of Zaqqum in the Interpretation of Maudu’i? and 2) How are the interpretation and the view of Moslem Scholars About Zaqqum?. This Research is qualitative and it studies the primary and the secondary book containing the word of zaqqum and about interpretation of maudh`?. The approach of this research is thematic. The result of the research are: 1) According to the interpretation of Maudu’i, Zaqqum is tree for food to dweller of hell, and can also be interpreted as every food bringing lethal. Abstract

This study is based on the increasing environmental destruction in this world, like forests in Indonesia are getting smaller, floods, and coral reef damage. Besides that, social behavior damage impacts the surrounding environment. The attitude of dishonesty, oppression, hedonism and others also adds to the list of damage on this earth. The Qur'an has mentioned that thi universe is destined for mankind. Therefore, God has created man as His-khalifah on earth, and given the responsibility for it. Therefore, good and bad the environment is depends on human behavior because humans have also been given a mind is not given to other living beings.

Abstract

At-Tarbiyyatul Wathoniyyah Islamic Boarding School (PATWA) located in the village of Mertapada Kulon, Astanajapura District, Cirebon Regency, is one of the Islamic boarding schools that conducts a routine reading of Surah Yasin, or commonly known as Surah Yasin Fadilah, in which there are dhirk and prayers. The phenomenon was used as the object of this study with some research questions formulated, which are (1) why do they conduct a routine reading of Surah Yasin Fadilah?, (2) what is the purpose of reading Surah Yasin Fadilah?, and (3) how does the practice of reading Surah Yasin Fadilah affect the community?

Abstract

This article examines the meaning of Islam in the perspective of contextual interpretation. This research is a literature research using historical and hermeneutic approaches. From the results of the study, it was concluded that Islam, which has been often misunderstood as a religion that is final, standard and allows its adherents to commit acts of violence against different faiths (the others; lian), turns out to have a much more essential meaning and is in accordance with the current context. The meaning that the author is referring to is that Islam is a progressive doctrine. Islam can be interpreted according to the times. Artikel ini mengkaji tentang makna Islam dalam perspektif tafsir kontekstual. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan dengan menggunakan pendekatan sejarah dan hermeneutik. Dari hasil kajian disimpulkan bahwa Islam yang selama ini sering disalahpahami sebagai agama yang bersifat final, baku dan memperkenankan pemeluknya untuk melakukan tindak kekerasan melawan yang berbeda keyakinan (the others; lian), ternyata memiliki makna yang jauh lebih esensial dan sesuai dengan konteks kekinian. Makna yang penulis maksud adalah bahwa Islam adalah sebuah doktrin progresif. Islam bisa dimaknai sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the contextualization of the meaning of QS. an-Nur verse 4-5 on the phenomenon of accusations of adultery on the Twitter social media platform. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytic method. The results and discussion in this study indicate that the contextualization of the flogging law contained in QS. an-Nur verses 4-5 on the phenomenon of accusations of adultery that occur on the Twitter social media platform, its enforcement is adjusted to the attitude of the person who accuses and is accused. If the accusation is proven true and the witnesses and conditions are fulfilled, then the flogging law does not apply. Meanwhile, when the accusation is not proven true, the flogging law is adjusted to the wishes of the accused person. In addition, this flogging law must also be applied when the person accused is male, in other words, not only women. This research recommends to all people who utilize technological sophistication, especially the millennial generation, to always be wise in using social media and be careful in using it.
