Abstract

This article attempts to reveal the relation of murshid and mur?d (pupil) of the Tarekat Sh?dhil?yah at Pesulukan Thoriqot Agung (PETA) in Tulungagung East Java. The author discusses the pattern of constructive relation between murshid and his pupils to build an objective social reality of the tarekat in terms of its teaching and ritual aspects. This moment subsequently becomes a medium of adaptation of the pupils. It helps the pupils to reach the process of spiritual happiness and internalize it into his/her consciousness and behaviors. Within such relation, social construction affirms that community is a result of human?s production and it stands beyond the zone of an external phenomenon. This external phenomenon consists of material and non-material subjects. In time, the external phenomenon becomes an objective reality, which forms understanding and behavior of other people in other different periods. Murshid has been the main subject within a tarekat who is capable to color spiritual realm of his pupils. The plot of murabb? al-r?? (spiritual educator) attached upon murshid is not a mysteriously hidden, abstract, and unseen epithet. Instead, this spiritual status is applied in his social action and behavior and it colors the spiritual actions of his mur?d.

Abstract

This paper discusses the construction of spiritual wellbeing in the community of tariqah. Myths, philosophy, and science, have all contributes in proposing descriptions pertaining to the mystery of human beings. Welfare, happiness, and prosperity, are of essential themes within the main subject in the study of social sciences, particularly in the discipline of Social Work. These themes became a research trend in a number of Social Work studies towards the end of the twentieth century. The orientation or purpose of religion on its adherents is manifested by providing information and rules relating to how to behave well to themselves, to God, to other human beings, and to their environment. This regulation is more accurately described as a practical living mechanism loaded with commands, prohibitions, and suggestions that lead to establishment of legal categories for each activity in a given context.

Abstract

East Java Governor Decree No. 55/2012, which regulates the Development of Religious Activities and the Supervision of Cults, is a response to various religious events in East Java society. This regulation emerged as a result of the physical conflict between Sunni and Shia communities in Sampang Regency, Madura, which resulted in the loss of life and material from both parties involved. One of the implementations of this policy is the relocation of Sampang Shia followers to Jemundo Flat in Sidoarjo, and until now, some of them have not returned to Sampang. In the context of the Sampang Sunni-Shiite conflict, this regulation has been more curative than preventive in its implementation for almost a decade, and from the perspective of public policy discipline, several issues still need to be addressed. This study uses a qualitative approach with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and document analysis accompanied by triangulation. The results show that the implementation of this regulation has contributed to the search for a resolution in the Sunni-Shiite conflict, although there are still imbalances in some aspects. In particular, given the sensitivity of the Sunni-Shia conflict phenomenon, especially in the local context of Sampang, this imbalance is seen in the historical, political, bureaucratic, and sociological dimensions. Therefore, it can be concluded that this regulation is a policy that can be evaluated and has provided results in conflict resolution efforts, but also requires a review to address the imbalances that still exist.

Abstract

Desa Burno in Lumajang has experienced a significant surge in cardamom cultivation in line with evolving agricultural trends. While initially boosting farmers' incomes, this production explosion has led to a drastic decline in cardamom prices in the market. This phenomenon is exacerbated by the dominance of middlemen who control pricing and marketing, making it difficult for farmers to obtain fair prices. This article explores the dynamics of the cardamom market in Desa Burno, including the impact of mass planting trends on prices and the limitations faced by farmers due to middlemen influence. Through qualitative analysis, market data, and structured interviews, this research uncovers the challenges faced by cardamom farmers and provides recommendations for fairer marketing strategies. Additionally, the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) behavior among farmers has contributed to the increased cultivation of cardamom, further worsening the market situation. This study aims to provide deeper insights into the relationship between cardamom agriculture, middlemen dominance, and FOMO behavior, while offering solutions to enhance the welfare of farmers in Desa Burno.

Abstract

This study focuses on the growth and development of radicalism in the Lamongan Regency area and the forms and variants of co-religious conflicts in the Tuban Regency area. These two focuses do not intend to compare Lamongan and Tuban as study destinations but explore the two regions with different questions. The next focus is the da'wah model based on socio cultural capital in preventing radicalism and religious conflicts in Lamongan Regency and Tuban Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of grounded theory according to the stages of the type of research. Socio cultural capital is diverse and meaningful, stretching from the potential of natural resources, economy, culture, customs, arts, and religion. The results of the analysis show that the dominant factors that cause the growth of radical ideas in Lamongan Regency are limited religious knowledge and insight, mistakes in choosing teachers, low levels of economic welfare, provocation of online media, sectarianism, disappointment with social, political, economic and legal conditions, and weak government control over educational institutions and pesantren affiliated with radical groups. The form of religious conflict that occurred in Tuban Regency was a peaceful action, which is an action carried out by Muslims without violence in order to address sectarian and communal issues. The socio cultural capital of the Lamongan and Tuban communities has a diversity ranging from the potential of natural resources, economy, culture, customs, arts, and religion, giving birth to five da'wah models for preventing radicalism and religious conflicts. The five da'wah models in question are economic-based, institution-based, village-based mosques, pesantren, and based on local wisdom.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the literacy skills of the elderly in Wonosari Village, Grujugan, Bondowoso, by teaching them how to read and write the alphabet. Literacy, particularly reading and writing, is an essential skill for every individual, yet it remains a challenge for many elderly people in rural areas due to limited access to education during their younger years. Through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which focuses on utilizing the community's existing assets, this program successfully engaged elderly participants in a structured learning process. The elderly were taught to read and write the alphabet over seven sessions, leading to increased self-confidence and independence in their daily lives. The program not only improved their literacy but also fostered greater social inclusion and community participation. This initiative demonstrates that with the right approach and support, the elderly can continue to develop and contribute to their community.
