Abstract

This research is motivated by the colonial problem in the archipelago which still leaves a trail of oppression as well as the struggle of the natives to escape the impact of this ideology. The colonial trail that still lags behind creates an indigenous group that becomes a subaltern - an isolated, oppressed, and exiled group. In the postal colonial subaltern theory Gayatri Spivax stated that among the groups that were the most victims of colonialism were the subalterns. Relevant to the problem, this study aims to describe the forms of discrimination against subaltern groups, especially women who become subaltern groups, against colonial ideology. Data obtained from Saraswati : Gadis dalam Sunyi shortstory by A. A Navis that is analyzed qualitatively. Based on research data sources namely Saraswati : Gadis dalam Sunyi shortstory by A. A Navis. The results of this study indicate that the figure Saraswati became subaltern because she is marginalized, economically impoverished, labeled, and sexually abused.

Abstract

Minangkabau language (ML) is one of the daily communication tools used by the people of West Sumatra, Indonesia. ML is a challenge in communicating. The ML language translation process is necessary to facilitate communication. This study aims to build a translation system for ML into Indonesian by developing the concept of natural language processing (NLP). NLP development adopts the performance of morphology-based Minangkabau language stemming algorithm (MLSA) which can separate basic words with affixes and endings. The research dataset adopts 600 basic ML words sourced from the big Minangkabau dictionary. The results of this study provide analytic output that can translate ML into Indonesian well. These results are presented based on the testing process on basic word input with an accuracy rate of 97.16% and based on text documents of 91.65%. Thus, the MLSA performance process presents the accuracy of the translation process. Based on these results, this research contributes to developing a stemming algorithm model in carrying out the process of removing prefixes, inserts, and suffixes in the Minangkabau language. Overall, this research can be useful as a tool for translating the ML into Indonesian.

Abstract

The short story "The Goats in the Cemetery" by Kanogpong Songsompun, a Buddhist writer from Southern Thailand, incorporated Islamic terminologies as its opening and closing lines, highlighting the presence of hybridity between Islam and Buddhism in the region. This research aimed to explore and analyze the depiction of hybridity between Islam and Buddhism in Southern Thailand, as observed in Songsompun's writing. The focus was on the coexistence and mutual respect between the majority Malay-Muslim villagers and the Thai-Buddhist capital holders in the face of a modernization program. This research employs Homi K. Bhabha's postcolonial theory. The analysis revealed that the short story effectively portrayed the villagers' anxiety caused by the modernization program. Despite the religious differences, with the villagers being predominantly Malay-Muslims and the capital holders being Thai-Buddhists, they lived harmoniously, demonstrating mutual respect and coexistence. Moreover, Songsompun's writing challenged the notion of Islam as a restricted religion by presenting it from a global perspective within the context of his work. The research findings emphasized the potential for hybridity to thrive when different religious communities respect and tolerate one another. This research contributes to a broader understanding of the manifestations of hybridity between Islam and Buddhism in societies that embrace multiple religions. It underscores the importance of mutual respect and coexistence, serving as a reminder of the possibilities for cultural hybridity and harmonious coexistence in diverse communities.

Abstract

Background: Nutritional surveillance monitors nutritional status to inform policy and programme decisions to improve community nutrition, including stunting. Chronic malnutrition and recurring illnesses cause stunting, which is when a child's length or height falls below the health minister's guidelines. Challenges include: not all Posyandu are active/covered low, not all targets have been input into the EPPGBM application (Toddlers and Pregnant Women), the use of the EPPGBM application in Community Health Centres has not been optimal, not all health workers and cadres have received height measurement training, coordination at each level, the monitoring system, and supervision to ensure height measurement quality. Due to its impact on the newborn, the first 1,000 days are critical. Permanent and lasting damage. Providing nutrition assistance at community health centre with surveillance can avoid stunting. Methods: The employed approach is participatory in nature, wherein partners are engaged to actively participate in various activities, while being supported by a dedicated staff that serves as a valuable resource and facilitator. The data analysis conducted for training purposes is to facilitate the implementation of the stunting surveillance programme, which is anticipated to encompass many sectors. This programme will primarily focus on monitoring and reporting nutrition-related activities, with a particular emphasis on stunting routines.
