Jane Austen’s novels and clever heroines and romantic interests have been adapted into movies and television shows for decades. This study explores a literary adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel entitled Pride and Prejudice, published in1813. It was adapted to the screen by Joe Wright in 2005 and written by Deborah Moggach. We shall discuss how Joe Wright interpreted the setting and conflict. This research was conducted using the adaptation theory proposed by Linda Hutcheon. We argue that the movie interestingly altered the setting to show the characters’’ romantic scenes and the major characters’ social economy level. The movie provides its audience transposition of major external and internal conflicts among the major characters. The movie has minimized the issues of social condition status and women’s roles in the Victorian era. Moreover, the film focuses on finding true love, the power of love, and the romantic scene. Joe Wright realistically maintains the struggle of romantic relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth and the beautiful landscape setting makes the audience feel it.

Penelitian ini mengenai perempuan dalam kuasa patriarki yang direpresentasikan dalam drama Korea Because This Is My First Life (2017). This research about women in patriarchal authority represented in the Korean drama Since This Is My First Life. Within two decades, Korean dramas (afterward referred to as K-drama) became popular in the global world and were the main pillars of the spread of Korean popular culture. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of women in the challenges of patriarchy and the struggle to face discrimination as well as the challenges themselves from the binary opposition of patriarchy. The theory used through the approach of Helene Cixous. Based on qualitative research methods and data analysis, it is known that this K-drama has succeeded in representing the reality of common problems faced by 21st century Korean women in dealing with patriarchal practices. The term post feminism contained in K-drama can get the value that women will not be objects of male power, but can also be free subjects in interpreting themselves as individuals not seen from them, by way of explanation is women. The researcher argues that in the process of presenting this K-drama there is a change in traditional patriarchal values in Korea where binary patriarchal values do not fully match based on Helene Cixous's patriarchal binary thought.

That means, there are more than 45 million women's products are used and discarded every year. In Indonesia alone, it turns out that sanitary pads can reach 26 tons every day. The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Andalas University realizes that the problem of waste, especially waste from pads, is very important for the balance of the environmental ecosystem. As an initial step to reduce sanitary napkin waste by providing education and socialization on the manufacture of cloth sanitary napkins. The service activity began with socialization with the school principal and teachers, after which it was given to all 29 Al-Ishlah High School students. Then a pre-test was conducted to find out the students' knowledge regarding eco-friendly sanitary napkins and menstruation where more than half of the students (89%) had good knowledge about reproductive health. After that, counseling was carried out regarding the impact of using disposable sanitary napkins on the environment and educating female students to use cloth sanitary napkins and explaining how to make cloth sanitary napkins. It is hoped that by carrying out this community service activity, the use of disposable pads/plastic pads can be reduced little by little, so that the amount of sanitary pad waste can be reduced and the environment will be better.

This study compares the novel Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan (2013) and the film adaptation of the same title, Crazy Rich Asians, by director Jon M. Chu (2018). Using the adaptation theory by Linda Hutcheon, this thesis examines how Jon M. Chu describes lifestyle and fashion behavior by looking at the three points of social stratification proposed by Max Weber. This research was carried out using a qualitative method. We argue that the lifestyle of upper-class people and fashion behavior in the novel are illuminated luxuriously on the screen. The atmosphere in the film of the lifestyle and fashion behavior strengthens the arrogant manners of the elite class. The novel’s social dynamics and romantic drama have been exposed with a strong ambiance for the cinematic experience for the audience.

This study aims to compare two works in different mediums: a novel titled Little Women, authored by Louisa May Alcott in 1868, and its film adaptation of the same title, directed by Greta Gerwig in 2019. This study explores how Greta Gerwig transformed gender roles and femininity in Little Women’s novel into a film version. This study employs the fidelity theory offered by James M. Welsh and the adaptation theory proposed by Linda Hutcheon. Qualitative analysis and library research are used as research methods in this study. The results revealed that the gender roles in the film adaptation had been portrayed with some changes, to focus more on their struggles to obtain their dreams and less romantic portrayal. The writers argue that femininity in the novel is depicted with a more modern sense of femininity and more aligned with modern feminist ideas.
