Abstract

The study of identification and inventory of cassava accessions was done from August to September 2014 in four districts based on their potential as a center for cassava cultivation, namely Simalungun, Serdang Bedagai, Deli Serdang, Langkat Regency representing the lowlands and Simalungun and Karo Regency representing the highlands. Each district was selected 3 subdistricts and each subdistrict was surveyed 3 villages randomly through the accidental sampling method. Guidance on identifying morphological characters was used by reference from Fukuda, et al. (2010) by giving a score for each character observed. The results of the study obtained 8 genotypes with their respective codes and local names; 1) Sawit (G1), 2) Lampung (G2), 3) Merah (G3), 4) Adira-1 (G4), 5) Kalimantan (G5), 6) Malaysia (G6), 7) Roti (G7) and 8) Klanting (G8). The most common genotype found in the location were Malaysia and Adira-1, while the rarest was Merah. The yield potential at the age of 10 months were Sawit (26,9–30,1 tons/ha), Lampung (29,6–52,6 tons/ha), Merah (54–61,6tons/ha), Adira-1 (34,8–55,0 tons/ha),  Kalimantan (15,8–64,2 tons/ha), Malaysia (32,9–64,3 tons/ha), , Roti (24,7–55,5 tons/ha), and Klanting (327,4–49,8 tons/ha).

Abstract

This research aims to study Tartrazine and Zinc (Zn) status in blood sample of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) children. Deductive research using the descriptive method through 3 stage, namely : 1. Taken of blood sample, 2. Analysis of Tartrazine status in blood sample was performed by using High Performance Liquid Chromatograpy (HPLC) method, and 3. Analysis of Zinc (Zn) status in blood sample were measurements by using Atomic Adsorbance Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and Chi Square tests (X2) by Computer programs (SPSS 15). The result of the assessment of Tartrazine status in blood sample of ADHD children that had been was considered statistically highly significant a increase of the assessment of Tartrazine status in blood sample of ADHD children by 130 mg/ml compared with laboratory reference (control) by 28 mg/ml, HA>C** (p<0,001). The result of the assessment of Zinc (Zn) status in blood sample of ADHD children that had been was showed statistically highly significant a reduce of the assessment of Zinc (Zn) status in blood sample of ADHD children by 0,37 µg/ml compared with laboratory reference (control) by 0,64-1,18 µg/ml, HA<C** (p<0,001). This was considered a reduction and increase in Tartrazine and Zinc (Zn) concentrations induces of the Hyperactivity children by 95%.

Abstract

Research on the study of producing rich beta carotene natural fibers beverage has been done by completely randomized design (CRD) with two replicates. The first factor was the ratio of water spinach stem and melinjo seed skin (S1 = 100:0, S2 = 75:25, S3 = 50:50, S4 = 25:75, S5 = 0:100). The second factor was the addition of carrots juice (W1= 30%, W2= 40%, and W3 = 50%). The parameters observed were fiber content, β-carotene content, water absorption index, oil absorption index, hedonic value of color, flavor and aroma. The statistical analysis was showed that the ratio of water spinach stem and melinjo seed skin provide highly significant effect (P ≤ 0.05) on fiber content, beta carotene content, water absorption index, oil absorption index, hedonic of flavor and aroma as well as had no significant effect (P 0.05) to  hedonic of color. The addition of carrot juice provides highly significant effect (P ≤ 0.05) on fiber content, beta-carotene content, water absorption index, oil absorption index, hedonic of aroma, color and flavor.
