Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation, digital infrastructure, and cybersecurity on e-commerce revenue in developing countries during the 2023-2024 period. This study employed a quantitative approach using secondary data from 62 developing countries selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results indicate that inflation has a negative and significant effect on e-commerce revenue, meaning that every 1% increase in inflation reduces e-commerce revenue by 4%. Digital infrastructure has a positive and significant effect on e-commerce revenue, where a 1% increase in digital infrastructure increases e-commerce revenue by 64%. Cybersecurity also has a positive and significant effect, with a 1% increase in cybersecurity leading to a 3% increase in e-commerce revenue. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.9978 indicates that the three independent variables are able to explain 99.78% of the variation in e-commerce revenue, while the remaining 0.22% is explained by other factors outside the model. The findings of this study confirm that controlled inflation, adequate digital infrastructure, and strong cybersecurity are key factors in encouraging the growth of e-commerce revenue in developing countries.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of exports, local government spending, and information and communication technology (ICT) development on the open unemployment rate in 34 provinces of Indonesia during the period 2020-2024. The high unemployment rate remains a structural problem in Indonesia, with significant disparities between provinces. This research employs a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) with White cross-section standard errors correction. Data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Ministry of Trade, and the Ministry of Finance (DJPk) across 170 observations (34 provinces over 5 years). The results indicate that exports do not have a significant effect on the open unemployment rate, with a probability value of 0.1432 > 0.05. Local government spending has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate with a coefficient of -1.994314 and a probability value of 0.0121. ICT development has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate with a coefficient of -1.552154 and a probability value of 0.0004. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R²) of 0.864958 indicates that 86.50% of the variation in the open unemployment rate can be explained by the three independent variables, while the remaining 13.50% is explained by other variables outside the research model. These findings provide important implications for local governments in formulating more productive spending priorities and expanding access to digital technology to create broader employment opportunities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how economic growth in Indonesia post-pandemic is influenced by Foreign Direct Investment, Labor, and the Technology Development Index. To determine the extent to which these independent variables influence the dependent variable, namely economic growth in the manufacturing sector. Economic growth in the manufacturing sector plays a crucial role, as the manufacturing sector is the largest contributor to Indonesia’s economy. This study employs a quantitative methodology using panel data regression analysis. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) provide secondary data in the form of panel data for 34 provinces covering the 2021–2024 period. Using Eviews 13.0 software, this study employed a fixed-effects regression model. The results of this study indicate that, in part, economic growth in the manufacturing sector is significantly and positively influenced by foreign direct investment, the labor force, and the technology development index. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of the manufacturing sector, policies are needed to support foreign direct investment, workforce quality, and the development of information and communication technology.

Abstract

This study examines the causal relationship between fossil energy consumption, economic growth, and foreign direct investment (FDI) in six ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines) over the period 2005-2024. Using panel data with 120 observations, this research employs the Panel Vector Error Correction Model (PVECM) framework with ARDL Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimation and Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality test integrated within the Toda-Yamamoto approach. The findings reveal unidirectional causality running from economic growth to fossil energy consumption at the 5% significance level, supporting the Conservation Hypothesis. Furthermore, unidirectional causality is found from fossil energy consumption to FDI and from economic growth to FDI at the 1% significance level, indicating that FDI acts as a pure recipient in the ASEAN causal system. In the long run, fossil energy consumption has a positive and significant effect on economic growth with an elasticity of 1.011 at the 1% level, while FDI shows a significant positive effect on fossil energy consumption with a coefficient of 0.039 at the 1% level. The Error Correction Term (ECT) is negative and significant at the 10% level in the energy equation, confirming a long-term equilibrium adjustment mechanism. These findings imply that economic growth is the primary driver in the ASEAN energy-investment system, while FDI does not provide significant feedback to either economic growth or energy consumption, suggesting the need for green investment attraction and energy diversification policies to achieve sustainable development in the region.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the dynamic and asymmetric responses of Islamic banking financing risk (Non-Performing Financing/NPF) in Indonesia to macroeconomic variable shocks, specifically Economic Growth (IPI), Inflation, and Exchange Rate. This research is motivated by the urgency of risk mitigation amidst the post-pandemic "pseudo-stability" phenomenon and the inconsistency of prior literature findings dominated by linear approaches. Such conventional approaches are considered less accurate in capturing the behavior of fluctuating macroeconomic variables. The unit of analysis is the national Islamic banking industry using monthly time-series data from January 2015 to September 2025. The data analysis technique employs the Non-Linear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) estimation, which decomposes independent variables into positive and negative shock components, complemented by the Wald Test for statistical asymmetry validation and the Error Correction Term (ECT) to measure adjustment speed. The results reveal variable-specific patterns: (1) Economic Growth (IPI) exhibits a dominant negative effect but is symmetric, indicating that the profit-loss sharing mechanism effectively distributes risk proportionally according to the business cycle; (2) Inflation has no significant long-term effect, proving the resilience of Islamic banking customers supported by cash flow certainty in Murabahah contracts; and (3) The Exchange Rate is proven to have a significant asymmetric effect. Rupiah depreciation dynamics have a far more destructive impact on asset quality compared to the improvements during appreciation, confirming the validity of the non-linear balance sheet channel. Systemically, Islamic banking demonstrates robust stability with an estimated self-recovery time of approximately 4.4 months. This study recommends the implementation of asymmetric hedging strategies for banking management and the calibration of dual-scenario stress testing policies for regulators to maintain financial system stability.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of digital payment usage and financial literacy on students’ consumptive behavior, with lifestyle as a mediating variable. The quantitative survey was conducted on 279 students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, class of 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that digital payment has a positive and significant effect on students’ consumptive behavior, both directly and through lifestyle mediation, due to the convenience and perceived benefits of digital payment. Financial literacy has a negative effect on consumptive behavior, both directly and through lifestyle, suggesting that higher financial literacy can reduce students’ tendency to be consumptive. The direct effect of financial literacy on consumptive behavior is more dominant than its indirect effect through lifestyle. Based on these findings, it is recommended that universities integrate financial literacy education into curricula and supporting activities, families provide financial management education from an early stage, and digital payment providers offer features that support students’ financial control. These strategies are expected to help students optimize the benefits of digital payment technology without increasing consumptive behavior.
