Abstract

Traditional medicine or commonly known as herbal medicine is often found, because its free to use without consulting medical therefore. Chemical drugs in the herbal products are still often found. Drug chemicals often added to herbs are paracetamol and phenylbutazone. In this study TLC Densitometry system used to detect paracetamol and phenylbutazone, to get optimal TLC system, validation includes selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision, LOD and LOQ, determination of paracetamol and phenylbutazone in herbal samples.Optimal mobile phase for detection paracetamol and phenylbutazone is ethyl acetate : chloroform (2:1). Maximum wavelength of 240 nm paracetamol, 237 nm phenylbutazone. The method used has selectivity, linearity and met the criteria of accuracy and precision, but the limit detection and limit quantitation do not met requirements. The result of the study 30 samples of herbs, found 5 samples were positive containing phenylbutazone that samples j, k, s, u and v with successive percentpercentages of 9,5053%; 10,6138%; 62,8776%; 42,8839% and 24,9238%.

Abstract

Endophytic fungi used as a new resource to produce bioactive compounds such as antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer. This study aimed to analyze the antibacterial, antioxidant, cytotoxic fraction of the separation ethyl acetate extract of mycelium of endophytic fungi genus Fusarium sp. Diethyl ether fraction showed high antibacterial activity in E.coli (20,75 µg/mL), S.typhi (35,08 µg/mL), and S.aureus (51,96 µg/mL). Test showed that the antioxidant activity of ethanol 96% fraction has highest antioxidant activity and total phenolic content (75,85 ± 0.87 mg GAE). Cytotoxic test on T47D breast cancer cells showed that the fraction of diethyl ether have highest activity with IC50 of 10,16 ± 0,88 µg /mL.

Abstract

Cultural conflict can occur because the diversity of cultures, religions, and races. When we refuse to learn about other cultures, stereotype, misinterpretation and tendency to change attitudes toward other ethnicity might happen. The purposes of this thesis is to explore the cultural conflict and the settlement in Kevin Kwan’s novel Crazy Rich Asian. This novel presents Rachel Chu and Nicholas Young as the central character. The research is conducted by means of descriptive analysis method. The results shows that the cultural conflicts experienced by Rachel and Nick were caused by stereotypes, misunderstandings, ethnocentrism and materialism, a high sense of selfishness that made the conflict continue without any resolution.Keywords: Crazy Rich Asian; Cultural Conflict; Culture.

Abstract

ABSTRACTLycopene is one of the phytochemical compounds of the carotenoid group, the main producer of red pigments found in watermelons. Watermelon is a round-shaped vines containing vitamin C and vitamin A and has high antioxidant levels. This study aims to identify lycopene compounds in watermelons. Extraction of watermelon flesh by maceration method. Identification of lycopene compounds with UV-Visibel spectrophotometry instrument followed by identification with the TLC method and fractionation of extracts using preparative TLC with chloroform: ethanol (1: 1) solvents, and identification of fractionation results with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results of the identification of watermelon fruit extract using the TLC method obtained three spots and the results of UV-Vis spectrophotometry showed three peaks namely between 440-520 nm. The identification of fractionation of watermelon extract using FT-IR obtained a constituent group of lycopene structures, but did not show the R-CH = CH-R group that is owned by lycopene, whereas the results of the test with UV-Vis spectrophotometry appearing at 206 and 245 which indicate the presence of other compounds. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the testing of known extracts of watermelon fruit contains lycopene compounds, but the testing of lycopene identification on the results of fractionation of watermelon fruit extracts was not found with certainty the existence of lycopene because the FT-IR results were only shown and contained on the results UV-Vis spectrophotometry was found to be the wavelength of other compounds.keywords: Watermelon, Lycopene, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, IR Spectrophotometry

Abstract

ABSTRACT Petunia  (Ruellia  brittoniana  Leonard) is a  wild  plant  species belonging  to  the Acanthaceae family. This study aimed to identify the content of ethanolic extract of petunia leaf. A total of 185 grams of petunia  leave powder were macerated with ethanol resulting 17.5 grams of ethanolic  extract.  Chemical  identification  was  performed by  using  reagents.  The  test  using reagents showed that the extract contains tertiary alkaloid, polyphenol, saponin, and essential oil. The antioxidant activity of the extract was recorded by using DPPH assay with the value of ES54 was 53,39 µg/mL. Keywords: Ruellia brittoniana, Acanthaceae, extract, antioxidant.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan kebun kopi pada saat ini berkembang sangat pesat dan salah satunya di Desa Kucur, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Terdapat kelompok tani dengan nama Republik Tani Mandiri (RTM) yang dibentuk untuk memproduksi kopi. Namun, proses pembuatan kopi masih tradisional dan omset penjualan belum maksimal, sehingga diperlukan inovasi dan penambahan alat produksi untuk meningkatkan harga jual dan kapasitas produksi kopi. Salah satu inovasinya adalah pembuatan kopi fermentasi. Kelompok pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Ma Chung telah melakukan penelitian dan menemukan kondisi yang optimum untuk proses fermentasi kopi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih para petani kopi dalam membuat dan mengembangkan kopi fermentasi, serta penyerahan mesin dan alat yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan produksi kopi fermentasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa peningkatan pemahaman pembuatan kopi fermentasi dan peningkatan produksi kopi fermentasi. Peserta berharap kegiatan pendampingan fermentasi kopi terus berlanjut.

Abstract

Bajakah kalalawit (BK) secara empiris digunakan sebagai obat tradisional untuk meningkatkan daya tahan seksual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian ekstrak dari batang BK terhadap aktivitas seksual tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan dengan parameter pendekatan, menunggang, dan kawin. Desain penelitian yaitu rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 perlakuan dan induksi selama 3 hari. Batang BK dimaserasi dengan etanol 96%. Kontrol negatif diinduksi dengan CMC-Na 0,5% dan kontrol positif diinduksi dengan sildenafil sitrat pada dosis 10 mg/KgBB. P1, P2, dan P3 masing-masing diinduksi ekstrak batang BK pada dosis 150 mg/KgBB, 200 mg/KgBB, dan 250 mg/KgBB/hari. Aktivitas pendekatan, menunggang, dan kawin pada hewan uji yang telah diinduksi diamati menggunakan libidometer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak batang BK dapat meningkatkan aktivitas seksual tikus putih jantan pada dosis 150 mg/KgBB/hari jika dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan yang lain. Kata Kunci: Uncaria gambir Roxb, Tikus Jantan, Afrodisiaka, Libidometer Bajakah kalalawit (BK) is empirically used as a traditional medicine to increase sexual endurance. This study aimed to analyze the effect of administration of BK stem extract on the sexual activity of white male rats (Rattus norvegicus) with the parameters of introduction, climbing, and coitus. The research design was a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three days of induction. BK stems were macerated with 96% ethanol. Negative control was induced with 0.5% CMC-Na and positive control was induced with sildenafil citrate at 10 mg/kg BW. P1, P2, and P3 were induced by BK stem extract at dose of 150 mg/kg BW/day, 200 mg/kg BW/day, and 250 mg/kg BW/day, respectively. Introduction, climbing and coitus activities in the induced test of male rats were observed using libidometer. The results showed that the induction of BK stem extract could increase the sexual activity of male rats at dose of 150 mg/kg BW/day compared to the control group and other treatment groups.

Abstract

Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan fraksi air ekstrak metanolik kulit batang faloakdilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan senyawa radikal 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Prinsip metode DPPH adalah penurunan intensitas absorbansi larutanDPPH yang berbanding lurus dengan kenaikan konsentrasi senyawa antioksidan yangdinyatakan dengan Inhibition Concentration 50 (IC50). Penentuan kandungan fenolik totaldilakukan dengan pereaksi Folin-Ciocalteu dengan menggunakan standar baku asam galat.Prinsip metode Folin-Ciocalteu adalah senyawa fenolik teroksidasi oleh reagen Folin-Ciocalteusehingga larutan uji berwarna biru yang dapat diukur dengan spektrofotometer visibel padapanjang gelombang 750 nm. Kandungan fenolik total dinyatakan dengan massa ekivalen asamgalat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi air ekstrak metanolik kulit batang faloaksecara kualitiatif mempunyai senyawa antioksidan dan secara kuantitatif mempunyai nilai IC50sebesar 45,628 ± 1,474 μg/mL yang tergolong dalam antioksidan sangat kuat. Fraksi air ekstrakmetanolik kulit batang faloak memiliki kandungan fenolik total sebesar 6,971 ± 0,167 mgekivalen asam galat per gram fraksi air ekstrak metanol kulit batang faloak.

Abstract

Introduction: The adverse drug reaction (ADR) is 4-7 times more common in elderly patients. That was also related to changes in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics that triggered the emergence of Drug-Related Problems. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess ADR in elderly patients with chronic diseases using the GerontoNET Score and the Screening Tool of Older People's Prescriptions (STOPP) criteria. Methods: The research design used a cross-sectional study which was analyzed descriptively. The sample consisted of 72 patients, aged more than 60 years, accompanied by chronic diseases, and hospitalized at Waluyo Jati Kraksaan Hospital. The exclusion criteria were patients referred to the Intensive Care Unit. Assessment to see the risk of ADR in elderly patients with chronic diseases using the GerontoNet Score while the wrong type of drug is given to elderly patients using the STOPP criteria. The variables contained in the GerontoNET Score are comorbid conditions ³4 (score= 1), heart failure (score= 1), liver disease (score = 1), the number of drugs such as: £5 (score= 0); 6-7 (score=1); ³8 (score=4), history of ADR (score=2), kidney failure (score=1). Results: The variable with the most ADR risk factors was the number of drugs ³8 drugs as many as 47 patients (65.3%) with GerontoNET score ³4 as much as 70.8%. The types of drugs included in the STOPP criteria are clopidogrel, Arixtra (fondaparinux), beta-blockers, NSAIDs, and furosemide. Conclusion: The risk factor for ADR was the number of drugs ³8 drugs.
