Abstract

Blood donation nowadays were considered to improve health status of the donors by declining human’s cholesterol level. The high level of cholesterol inside the blood bags influenced the blood quality. However, there was limited data about cholesterol level and its influencing factor on the blood donors. This cross-sectional study aimed to analyse the associated factors of cholesterol levels in blood donors. This study involved 120 respondents using the purposive sampling as sampling method. Data was collected using questionnaires and blood cholesterol examination. The obtained data was analysed using univariate and bivariate statistic tests with significance level α=0.05. This study found that the majority of respondents aged 35-45 years (60.8%) and male (60.8%). More than half respondents were routine to donate their blood. Although they consumed cholesterol foods, their cholesterol level remained normal (88.3%). This study also found that blood donation had an association with cholesterol level p=0.000, while the other variables did not show any relationship. The normal cholesterol level among blood donors was influenced by frequent blood donation. Further study needs to be explored about the activities and the foods type to identify the cholesterol level among blood donors.

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a collection of symptoms or complaints in the form of physical, emotional, and behavioral that occur 7-10 days before menstruation.  Many theories state the cause of PMS, but one of the factors suspected of causing PMS is hormonal.  The imbalance of estrogen and progesterone hormones allows a person to experience Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS).  This study aims to analyze the correlation between the level of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) with the incidence of Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in undergraduate nursing students at STIKES KaryaHusada Kediri.  The research design used in this study is correlated with a cross-sectional approach.  The sample in this study was 165 people who were the whole population (Total Sampling).  Data analysis using Spearman rank.  The results showed that almost half of the respondents had moderate PMS and most of the respondents had EDS.  Analysis with the Spearman rank statistical test obtained an -value of 0.001 with an error level of =0.05, which means that there is a relationship between the level of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and the incidence of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) with the strength of the weak category (r=0.252).  Many factors can affect PMS and EDS conditions, perhaps one of the factors that can play a role in the form of bad living habits such as lack of physical activity and bad habits the form of playing with gadgets before going to bed.  Thus, changing life habits for the better such as increasing physical activity and reducing bad habits of playing with gadgets before bed with maximum use of 30 minutes can be a solution to prevent the occurrence of EDS, besides that sufficient physical activity can also reduce the perceived risk of PMS severity.  and also avoiding stressful and fatigue conditions can be the solution.

Abstract

The high level of physical activity carried out by school adolescents is one of the factors that causes the condition of the sprain strain to occur in students. The high enthusiasm for sports such as playing soccer, running and other sports can trigger the condition of a sprain strain that is difficult for students to avoid. Improving the health status of the school community can be done through various activities, one of which is the provision of first aid training for sports injuries (sprain strain) using the RICE method. Students of SMAN I Plosoklaten are a group of teenagers in a community setting who have a risk of health problems due to dynamic activities. First aid for a sprain strain can be a treatment that can be given immediately. This is to prevent the injury from getting worse. One method that can be used to treat cases of sprain strain is RICE (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) by keeping the leg that has a sprain strain still, compressing it with ice or cold water to relieve pain, Giving an elastic bandage to prevent swelling and also This can be done by elevating the injured body part to improve blood flow. Community service activities in the form of Sports Injury First Aid Training (Sprain Strain) at PMR SMAN I Plosoklaten are very positive activities to be carried out in order to disseminate health knowledge so as to increase the knowledge and ability of each student in providing assistance to muscle injuries.

Abstract

The problem of a decrease in knee joint extension makes it difficult for the elderly to carry out their daily activities. Static and dynamic stretching exercises can help to maintain joint range of motion and minimize muscle flexibility loss. The goal of this research was to identify if static and dynamic stretching had different effects on knee joint extension in the elderly. With a pre-experimental research design, this research used a two-group pre-test post-test design. The participants in this research were divided into two groups: static stretching and dynamic stretching, with each group consisting of 18 people recruited by the purposive selection technique. Before and after the intervention, a goniometer was utilized to evaluate knee joint extension. To investigate the difference in influence, the Independent T-Test statistical evaluation was utilized, demonstrating that static and dynamic stretching had different effects on knee joint extension in the elderly. Both of these treatments had the ability to influence joint extension. Static stretching relaxes the muscles, allowing them to stretch further by moving one leg alternately and retaining the maximal position. Dynamic stretching increases joint flexibility by moving both legs simultaneously and slowly. This static and dynamic stretching is necessary for the elderly to avoid a reduction in joint extension during daily activities.
