Abstract

Introduction: Reticulocytes are young blood cells that have just been released into the bloodstream from the bone marrow. Reticulocytes have characteristics that still have ribosomal RNA remnants. Physical activity is a body movement produced by skeletal muscles and requires energy, including activities performed while working, playing, doing household chores, exercising, and traveling.. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the results of reticulocyte examination before and after physical activity. Research Method: This research was conducted in 2 laboratories, blood sampling at the Hematology Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Technology, Muhammadiyah Palembang Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, and at the Palembang Health Laboratory Center. The number of samples used was 17 with 2 treatments using purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of reticulocyte examination before and after physical activity using the sysmex-XN1000 hematology analyzer. Results: The results showed that before physical activity produced an average of 1.24% while those after physical activity produced an average of 1.12%. In this study, there was a decrease that was not far from its normal value. Analysis of the data using the Wilcoxon test results obtained sig 0.209 where p≥0.05. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference between before and after physical activity.

Abstract

Hemoglobin is a protein molecule in red blood cells that functions as a means of transporting oxygen (O2) from the lungs to tissues throughout the body and taking carbon dioxide (CO2) from the tissue below to the lungs to be released into the free air. This study aims to determine the effect between blood immediately examined and a delay of 2.5 hours at room temperature on hemoglobin levels conducted at IKesT Muhammadiyah Palembang. The type of research used is cross sectional with intact group comparison research design. The sample consisted of 30 samples immediately examined and 30 samples with a delay of 2.5 hours taken from 30 respondents. The study was conducted starting from patient preparation, taking examination materials, processing examination materials, analysis and research results. The average hemoglobin level immediately examined was 12.8 g/dL while the hemoglobin level with a delay of 2.5 hours was 12.7 g / dL, the results of the wilxocon test showed that the significant value was p=0.342. The p value obtained is p>0.05. The results can be concluded that there is no difference in hemoglobin levels immediately examined and a delay of 2.5 hours at room temperature.

Abstract

Background: Cases of helminthiasis in children are more often infected by Soil Transmitted Helmint (STH) worms, one of which is Trichuris trichiura (whipworm). Stool examination aims to determine the presence or absence of worm eggs or infective larvae. Examination of worm eggs by native and flotation methods is a qualitative examination, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. In the native method, the process is fast, but less sensitive in mild infections. The flotation method has the advantage that the field of view of the microscope is free from faeces so that it is easier to read on a microscope. The drawbacks of the flotation examination are that it takes quite a long time and is more suitable for use in feces that contain small amounts of worm eggs. Purpose: to see the quality of Trichuris trichiura worm egg preparations native and flotation methods. Research Methods: This method is used as an alternative because the native method still has drawbacks, especially in mild infections. This type of research is descriptive analysis. The research was conducted in the Hematology Laboratory of the Muhammadiyah Palembang Institute of Health Sciences and Technology on January 3, 2022 with a total sample of 32 preparations. Results: the study found that the flotation method was more optimal in detecting Trichuris trichiura worm eggs than the native method, with very good quality assessment results on the flotation method 10 preparations of 16 preparations (62.5%), while the native method obtained very good results for 3 preparations of 16 preparations (18.8%). Conclusion: from the research results, there are differences in the results between the flotation method and the native method.
