Abstract

An institution which creates and organizes accessible information resources both local and remote based on information technology, remains to be one of interesting topics discussed by academicians and practitioners in Library and Information nowadays. This digitized infor-mation which is called as ‘institutional repository’ relates to one of researches in digital library management. This repository is developed not only to provide access easily and globally or to create digital archieve as long-term stable resources to ensure their quality and survivability, but it is also addressed to institutional prestige and excellence. Therefore, it is more often viewed as institutional ranking both national and international that we call as the webometrics repository. However, librarians have challenge and opportunity to compete for the best insti-tution in organizing the repository. The competition has been lasting among PTKIN’s libraries (libraries in State Islamic University) which participate and devote highly attention to organize and develop their repositories. In this case, how do the PTKIN libraries organize their reposi-tories and to what extent the organizing has impact on ranking webometics of repository? This paper is trying to elaborate addressed to the questions by doing research into six PTKIN’s libraries using quantitative method. Indicators to evaluate in organizing the repository use the same indicators as webometrics’ standards. They are size, visibility, rich files, and scholar. The findings show that organizing the repository has been conducted by three PTKIN’s libraries (UIN Yogyakarta, UIN Jakarta, and UIN Riau) which reached the higher score from 1 to 3 respectively. These results are in line with place of three institutions in ranking webometrics. Meanwhile, another three PTKIN’s libraries (UIN Malang, UIN Bandung, dan UIN Makasar) have very different score with the aforementioned three PTKIN’s libraries. The repository of last three PTKIN’s libraries shows that there is no one of them registered in the ranking webo-metrics. In conclusion, organizing of the repository in six PTKIN’s libraries has relevant impact on the ranking webometrics.

Abstract

This study is aimed at explaining the level of religious role of library amongst users of Syuhada mosque library that is located in Kota Baru Yogyakarta. The study uses the concept of Glock and Stark in defining the religiosity based on five dimensions, such as ideology and experience. In addition, other concepts related to the role of libraries that it can become in the forms of frequency of visits, type and subject of collections read, and the theme of religious subjects used. While the research uses a descriptive quantitative approach equipped with data collection techniques, such as questionnaire, interview, and observation. Its data analysis uses a method of percentage of a four-point Likert scale. The results are found that the religious role of library amongst Syuhada mosque library users achieves a high category, which is amounted to 76.80%. The number is an average of five indicators. The highest level is occupied by correlative links of the library effects to the level of religiosity of Syuhada mosque library users with a value of 85.60%. Conversely, the lowest one is located by the indicator of types of collection read by 70.75%. Based on the findings, the important recommendation that can be proposed is that the mosque library should be encouraged and developed because it obviously shows its correlative effects to the religious life of society.

Abstract

Pengetahuan Islam lokal dipahami sebagai pengetahuan yang dimiliki komunitas tertentu dan berkembang di geografis tertentu yang bersinggungan dan menyatu dengan nilai-nilai Islam. Pengetahuan lokal yang saling terintegrasi dengan Islam yang datang kemudian inilah yang memunculkan pengetahuan Islam yang bersifat lokal. Hasil penelitian mengenai perpustakaan perguruan tinggi Islam di Indonesia yang telah merintis pengembangan pengetahuan Islam lokal belum ditemukan hingga saat ini. Pada saat yang bersamaan, muncul keprihatinan karena keberadaan pengetahuan tersebut belum dirawat secara maksimal, bahkan masih banyak yang berserakan di berbagai tempat di sekitar perpustakaan tersebut berada. Beranjak dari kenyataan ini, salah satu institusi yang semestiya memberikan perhatian sungguh-sungguh atas nasib pengetahuan Islam lokal ini adalah PTKIN dengan memaksimalkan peran perpustakaannya untuk menghimpun dan mengelola pengetahuan tersebut. Untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengelolaan dan jangkauan akses atau diseminasi yang telah dilakukan perpustakaaan-perpustakaan UIN di PTKIN terkait dengan pengetahuan Islam lokal sehingga pengetahuan ini bisa dimanfaatkan masyarakat luas dengan cepat dan mudah melalui jaringan global, ada 11 Perpustakaan UIN di lingkungan PTKIN yang diteliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua perpustakaan UIN tersebut belum mengimplementasikan pengelolaan pengetahuan Islam lokal sehingga diseminasi pengetahuan tersebut belum dilakukan. Bagaimanapun, terdapat tiga perpustakaan yang telah merencanakan pengelolaan pengetahuan Islam lokal yaitu Perpustakaan UIN Yogyakarta, Perpustakaan UIN Surabaya, dan Perpustakaan UIN Aceh. Karena belum ada satu pun perpustakaan UIN di lingkungan PTKIN yang diteliti menyediakan akses secara spesifik pada pengetahuan tersebut baik lewat jaringan lokal maupun akses jarak jauh, maka dampak pengelolaan pengetahuan Islam lokal digital terhadap pencapaian world class library belum diketahui secara pasti. Meskipun demikian, sebagian besar Perpustakaan UIN yang diteliti berkeyakinan bahwa pengelolaan pengetahuan Islam lokal dapat berdampat positif terhadap pencapaian internasionalisasi perpustakaan.

Abstract

This article explores the assertive behaviour of librarians in an effort to improve service quality in the digital era. It is expected that librarians can adjust to the rapid development of technology and the increasingly complex demands of users. To face these challenges, assertive behaviour is required, which includes effective communication skills, the ability to express opinions assertively, and self-confidence. This research uses the literature study method to look at various scientific sources on assertive behaviour and its impact on library service quality. The results show that assertive behaviour helps create good interactions between librarians and users, increases user satisfaction with services, and supports the transformation of libraries towards digital-based services. It is hoped that this research will provide insights for librarians on how to develop assertive skills to improve the quality of services provided by digital libraries.
