Abstract

This study aims to determine the accuracy of the concept used in Senior High school Chemistry textbooks grade XI that is used in the city of Bogor, especially on solubility concept. The research was conducted by surveying the titles of textbooks used by teachers and students in 10 senior high schools in Bogor city. The three books most widely used by the 10 schools were analyzed for the accuracy of the concept description compared to the content of four university chemistry textbooks on materials related to solubility and solubility products. The results of the analysis were validated by 2 experts. The result of the analysis of three textbooks in circulation indicates the imprecision of concept description and potentially lead to misconception.

Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka resmi diberlakukan secara nasional pada tahun 2024. Guru adalah kunci keberhasilan dari implementasi kurikulum di sekolah pada mata pelajaran masing-masing. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kesiapan guru kimia dalam menghadapi Kurikulum Merdeka. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus di salah sekolah di Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir, Sumatera Selatan. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data menunjukkan bahwa guru kimia telah siap menghadapi Kurikulum Merdeka. Guru kimia tersebut menyadari bahwa perubahan kurikulum itu adalah hal yang biasa dan selalu terjadi. Tidak ada perbedaan signifikan persiapan mengajar antara implementasi Kurikulum 2013 dengan Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

There are not many detailed explanations on how to design STEM learning in chemistry lesson scope. This has made researchers and chemistry teachers not understand about its application in the classroom. Therefore, this study aims to develop a guidebook containing theories on how to design STEM learning. This research used Design and Development Research with these stages being carried out, namely (1) analysis of STEM concepts and lesson plans, (2) design of the CATUR STEM outline, (3) development of the contents of the CATUR STEM guidebook, and (4) assessment which includes validation of guidebook content. This guidebook has been declared very valid without revision by 12 validators involved with a validity value of 3.74 (out of a maximum score of 4.00). This guidebook contains information about STEM learning using modification of Engineering Design Process (EDP), how to create lesson plans based on Merdeka Belajar policy and STEM-EDP learning, and a collection of examples of STEM-EDP learning lesson plans. It is highly expected that this guidebook will later be tested to teachers of early childhood education programs, elementary schools, junior high school as an attempt to strengthen the theory of the STEM learning model.

Abstract

This research was conducted to discover children’s undertanding about social emotional through the game of matching emoji cards. The aim of this service is so that children can learn to regulate their emotions This type of research is qualitative case study research. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of this service activity, the participants in the play were divided into two groups. Muhammad's group (boys) and Aisyah's group (girls) compete alternately with emojis. Children understand the meaning of given emojis more quickly. They have succeeded in differentiating the types of emotions of the Emoji Card Matching game.

Abstract

STEM-based learning implementation plan aims to integrate aspects of natural science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a holistic learning activity. In the educational context, pre-service teachers have an important role in developing effective learning implementation plans to achieve learning goals and facilitate the student learning process. This study aimed to explore the cognitive abilities of prospective teachers in designing STEM-based learning implementation plans using the CODE-Plan model. This research was conducted using qualitative research methods involving several pre-service chemistry teachers as participants. Pre-service chemistry teachers design lesson plans based on the CATUR STEM guidebook (how to organize STEM Learning). This guidebook is a product developed by researchers. Data was collected through interviews, observations and analysis of documents related to learning implementation plans that pre-service chemistry teachers had made. The cognitive abilities of pre-service chemistry teachers in designing STEM-based learning implementation plans are assessed through several indicators, including clarity in formulating objectives, accuracy of integration of context and content, accuracy of a series of STEM-based learning activities, and completeness of the assessment. The results of the research show that most pre-service chemistry teachers have been able to make plans for implementing STEM-based learning by adapting the methods in the CATUR STEM guidebook. Some of the pre-service chemistry teachers have been able to formulate learning objectives in accordance with the chemistry curriculum, design STEM-based learning activities that are oriented towards learning objectives, and plan evaluations. Various chemistry issues in everyday life are correlated with chemistry material and presented in STEM-based learning activity plans by pre-service chemistry teacher students. However, pre-service chemistry teacher students still need to improve in planning the total lesson hours needed for each meeting, and some of the chemical issues used in these learning activities are difficult to implement in the classroom

Abstract

This research aims to determine the difference in the assessment results in the critical thinking skills of State Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MIN) students or State Islamic schools in Indonesia using paper-based and digital-based tests. Data was collected from 314 participants representing MIN on four large islands in Indonesia, namely MIN Bogor Regency, West Java, MIN Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi, MIN Palembang City, South Sumatra, and MIN Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan. The research method used a quantitative survey. A total of 24 valid Critical Thinking Skills Items with the Facione Critical Thinking Skills indicator as an instrument for measuring critical thinking skills. Factors such as motivation, technological accessibility, and effectiveness of test formats contribute to differences in results. This study provides new insights into the effectiveness of technology-based assessment in Madrasa education, especially in evaluating critical thinking skills. These findings lead to policy recommendations for improving the Madrasa assessment system in the digital era.

Abstract

So far, separating science and religion has brought the world into chaos. In contrast, science and religion do not need to be a dichotomy because they can be integrated constructively to solve problems in human life. This study aims to analyze the validity, practicality, and readability of Islamic Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) Activities for Early Childhood (AUD), which is part of design research. The research approach uses quantitative methods with a design that refers to the Plomp model. The results of the validity test show that the resulting product is very valid with improvements in standard and non-standard language, use of fonts, enlargement of font sizes, and improvements in Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions. After going through the improvement of the prototype, readability, and practicality tests, the results were very good and suitable for use. The results and steps of this study can be used as a reference for other researchers who want to test the validity, practicality, and readability of reading product development for early childhood. In this STEAM Storybook product, more emphasis is placed on integrating Islamic content and activities with the Engineering Design Process.

Abstract

In Indonesia, STEM education has been implemented in the learning process since 2014. The number of researches on the implementation of STEM education are increasing from year to year. Therefore, this research was conducted to map the all articles published online with the theme of STEM education implementation in Indonesia. The scoping review was carried out following the framework from Arksey O'Malley (2005), with the following steps: (1) formulating research questions, (2) exploring research results on Google Scholar database from 2015-2020 with the keyword “implementation” + "STEM education" + “Indonesia”, (3) sorting the collected articles with predetermined criteria and selecting them according to the PRISMA model, (4) discussion, and (5) conclusion. Found 597 articles that match to these keywords and 154 articles that meet the criteria as research data. The results showed that the STEM education is implemented as a learning strategy and approach, integrated with other learning models, used as a learning assessment, and developed into teaching materials, modules, and learning media. Additionally, teachers implement STEM to improve entrepreneurship skills, learning motivation, and various 21st-century skills in their students. Furthermore, research on STEM has been conducted in 19 provinces in Indonesia, which are dominated by West Java and East Java provinces. Beside that, the STEM education has been studied at all levels of education and high school is the most widely used research subject and STEM education has grown in small units and has proven to be capable of developing many student skills. The implementation of STEM education can be a trigger for renewal in the world of education.

Abstract

This article aimed to describe a combination between Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning with religious character while respecting diversity in the story book. This research is part of the research method of designing and developing picture storybooks at the ADDIE model's analysis, design, and development stages. Prototype Design STEM Activity Storybook shows how the picture of project-based learning is implemented. In this storytelling, students can learn how to interact with different tribes, nations, races, and religions to solve environmental problems. In the storybook, there are trigger questions Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to be discussed in discussions and STEM-Engineering Design Process (EDP). The purpose of developing this book is to illustrate how to combine STEM learning and character education in story books.

Abstract

ABSTRAK : Keterampilan bertanya adalah teknik yang penting untuk dikuasai oleh guru PAUD agar penalaran dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah AUD dapat berkembang maksimal. Dilakukan asesmen terhadap keterampilan bertanya 23 calon guru PAUD mengacu pada kriteria level pertanyaan Nielsen dengan metode analisis konten. diketahui bahwa sebanyak 68% partisipan masih mengemukakan pertanyaan dalam bentuk Low Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) dan 32% sudah mempraktekkan pertanyaan untuk mengembangkan High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Semua partisipan memulai pertanyaan dari pertanyaan deskripsi yakni tentang apa, siapa, dimana, dan kapan. Pertanyaan LOTS yang muncul paling banyak seputar pertanyaan deskripsi mengenai apa, siapa, dimana, dan kapan disertai berhitung jumlah objek. Pada pertanyaan HOTS, pertanyaan yang ideal adalah pertanyaan yang melalui proses penalaran (Q3) atau bagaimana anak bisa mengamati secara detail objek yang dipelajari melalui proses membedakan (Q4). ABSTRACT : Questioning skills are an important technique to be mastered by Early Childhood educators so that Early Childhood reasoning and problem solving skills can develop optimally. An assessment of the questioning skills of 23 prospective Early Childhood educators was conducted referring to the Nielsen question level criteria using the content analysis method. It is known that as many as 68% of participants still raise questions in the form of Low Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) and 32% have practiced questions to develop High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). All participants started the question from the description question about what, who, where and when. The LOTS questions that appear most revolve around description questions about what, who, where, and when accompanied by counting the number of objects. In HOTS questions, the ideal questions are questions that go through the process of reasoning (Q3) or howchildren can observe in detail the objects learned through the process of differentiating (Q4).
